"Is the resignation of Justin Wokeby an historic opportunity for the Church of England to be truly inclusive? Why should this top job be exclusively for Christian? Several Archbishops did not even believe in God so surely this should no longer be a closed shop ?" Why is this in the politics forum?

"It would send out all the right signals of love, peace, inclusiveness and general wokeness if the incumbent was a Muslim. " Justin Wokeby never expressed any concern with the massacre of Nigerian Christians by those of that faith so I think he would approve.

"Why should this top job be exclusively for Christian? That made me laugh. I would have thought that being a Christian and specifically a member of the CofE faith would be the starting point for anyone who aspires to this appointment." You might think so but Justin Welby said he doesn't always believe in God, which I'd always imagined was pretty essential for the head of a religion.

"Seems to me that we don't need a new Arch-Bishop at all. Isn't it about time that we recognised that these people aren't doing good, and should just be removed from their role in parliament." Probably, then get rid of the royal family

"Yes I don't understand that part of their role." Ironically, they're supposed to be the voice of morality, holding the government to account.

"It should ideally be headed by someone who is a believer in their religion, I would think. It has amassed lots of money and property, as well as power from us and gets massive tax breaks, at our cost, solely due to being a religion. With millions globally under him, he needs to be Christian, to keep it together and lead. " This!

"Is the resignation of Justin Wokeby an historic opportunity for the Church of England to be truly inclusive? Why should this top job be exclusively for Christian? Several Archbishops did not even believe in God so surely this should no longer be a closed shop ?" Unreal question. It's a branch of Christianity so therefore the leader is a Christian - a followers of Christ. Was this a genuine question or a piss take

The Crown Nominations Committee independently submts two nomìnations. A PM could theoretically reject the first nomination, but cannot reject a second. Interestingly, a Catholic or Jewish PM cannot make that decision and it is well publicised that 2TK attends synagogue every week. An arcane and largely ceremonial process if ever there was one.

If I was setting a spread it’d be 45-50, which based on your 400% under appreciation is about right

"This is a joke right? As it's only Christianity we're allowed to take the pee. Other religions, not so much." Come on. We are on a swinger site so let's do some swapping. All in the name of inclusivity of course. I nominate the bishop of York to take Friday prayers down at the local Mosque. The chief Rabbi to take over as Archbishop of Westminster. The Hindu Council could run the synagogues and I'm sure we could find an Imam or two that could take over at Lambeth Palace. This could be fun.
