Trump's Face on Mount Rushmore

Yes, of course Donald Trump wants his face added to Mount Rushmore

.

Trump, who has floated the idea in the past of having his face on landmark, posted the tweet in response to a New York Times report that the White House reached out to South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem to inquire about what would be involved in making the addition.

What do you think?

He is President

He has the Senate

He has the Popular vote

And looking like he has House of Representatives

Will he also have his face on Mount Rushmore?

I had a quick Google:

Commemorate American history

The sculpture honors the founding, expansion, preservation, and unification of the United States. The four presidents depicted on Mount Rushmore represent different periods of American history:

George Washington: The first president, representing the country's birth

Thomas Jefferson: Nearly doubled the size of the country with the Louisiana Purchase, representing westward expansion

Theodore Roosevelt: Oversaw the construction of the Panama Canal, representing economic growth

Abraham Lincoln: Fought to preserve the nation during the Civil War

So maybe:

Donald Trump: the first person convicted of fraud and of sexual abuse of women, to become president.

The other thing to bear in mind is that the presidents depicted were all dead by the time that their faces were carved onto Mount Rushmore.

They didn't request it.

Obviously I'm taking the piss with the suggestion but he has mentioned it when he was 45th president.

Mount Rushmore National Memorial chief of interpretation and education Maureen McGee-Ballinger told the Sioux Falls Argus Leader, part of the USA TODAY Network, that it was not possible to add a fifth president to the monument.

.

Anyone who has visited Mount Rushmore will know that CrazyHorse is also being carved into a mountain, I visited this 20 years ago and went back in 2014, it's a very impressive statue carving.

I don’t think Mount Rushmore would be big enough for a man of Starmer’s stature.

He was Director of Public Prosecutions.

President Donald Trump tweeted

that he thought it would be a "good idea," to have his face on Mount Rushmore but making any additions to the landmark – whether it would be to add the 45th president or any other person – is likely not possible without jeopardizing the existing structure

Anyone who has visited Mount Rushmore will know of the Large viewing square in front looking out.

Perhaps a Giant Statue of Trump can be built and placed in the Square

Too simplistic for so many reasons….

You have those people who come across illegally……

You have those people’s who come illegally but are allowed to stay regardless (Cuba under the wet foot dry foot policy, Venezuela,)……

And then you have those that come illegally but are coming under temporary protective status (Haiti for example)….

And then you have children covered under DACA (dreamers)……

See … a lot of you think this is a clear cut black and white (actually no pun intended in this) cases of who goes and who stays…

If you think that the way that the British government dealt with windrush was messy…. That’s going to be nothing compared to what the us government are going to have to do with people who come under DACA… dreamers

So for the point of the conversation.. if you don’t know what a dreamer is… it’s a child that was brought here with parents who came here illegally

So let me give you a scenario… at 3 points I will say… should they go, or should they stay

The scenario are common…… i am in no way trying to trick anyone

So….the youngest “Dreamers” now would have been around 6 when they came to the us with their parents…. Let’s say there parents have passed away, the us is the only place they know

Stay or go?

So… they have been here since 6… the be considered a dreamer you would never have gotten into any trouble with the police, they go to college … or work and pay taxes and contribute to society

Stay or go?

Let’s say the dreamer did really well in school or college.. and decided to sign up for the us armed forces.. they have done there time or are still serving

Stay or go?

Answer those 3…. And we can start having a reasonable rational conversation about immigration

She entered on. Tourist visa then worked illegally as a model then applied as a working visa illegally and then was allowed to stay illegally.. as did several of his voters who were born in Canada and stayed here illegally. Google Russian pregnancy trips for their achor babies. All sounds about white when the narrative should apply to them too but doesn't...

People over here don't even know the USA has several time zones yet alone knowing DACA or Dreamers policies..I'm American who moved here post Obama. So I'm well aware.. plus those 2 terms ARE NOT interchangeable. They do not have the same legality or criteria or requirements.

Because a child is not denied any education.. they don’t place that on the child…..

Also the people working thing and paying taxes, as long as they have not committed a crime, DHS policy at this time is to basically turn a blind eye in regards to attempts at deportation

If ICE do reverse that policy come January 20th, then good luck to the food and meat processing and packing industries… and good luck to agriculture… because those are going to be the first places Americans will feel it it in their pockets

If ICE do reverse that policy come January 20th, then good luck to the food and meat processing and packing industries… and good luck to agriculture… because those are going to be the first places Americans will feel it it in their pockets "

Thanks for the explanation.

It's no wonder that the US has such a problem with immigration. If someone can just turn up, get a job, and the authorities will ignore the fact that they're illegal, I can see why so many people make the journey.

"So… they have been here since 6… the be considered a dreamer you would never have gotten into any trouble with the police, they go to college … or work and pay taxes and contribute to society

I don't know how the US works in these cases. How does a child get registered for school if they are an illegal immigrant with no right to stay? Same question for an adult registering with the tax authorities.

"I had a quick Google:

Setting aside his obvious qualities as a human being, Trump could be the representative of the USA's final conversion into a Dictator run oligarchy.

Through their apparent naivety the American people, in free and fair elections, have elected to run the country the richest amongst them.

History has shown us those chosen few will now only use it, like the Russian Federation before them, as a way of self engrandisement whilst the American people work themselves to death thinking they are living the American dream.

Work themselves to death thinking they are living the American dream!!!

A number of my American ex work colleagues have retired from the oil rigs aged 55, still fit and touring the usa in camper vans that look like 3 bedroom homes.

They are indeed living the dream.

"Yes, of course Donald Trump wants his face added to Mount Rushmore

Will it be painted orange ?

Maybe we will get one of Starmer.

Just an empty grey suit on a plinth.

The LDS is strong here. He is a British PM, why would he be on Mount Rushmore

I don’t think Mount Rushmore would be big enough for a man of Starmer’s stature.

He was Director of Public Prosecutions.

True, he definitely deserves something near parliament , next to Churchill

Probably with a much bigger plinth than Churchill I imagine."

Nah, make it life size, he’s about 5 foot 3

I presume that the “working themselves to death” line refers to the pathetic number of holidays the poor bastards get when they are working. 10 days off isn’t uncommon.

Also the reference was to people who worked on oil rigs, which pays very well. So those referred to are clearly outliers.

Living and working on oil rigs is an exceptional job and very well paid.

It's the car mechanics, hairdressers, shop assistance, cleaners, office workers, waitresses, bus drivers etc who will not be buying $200,000 RVs.

With no statutory paid time off, no mandated paid public holidays, no parental leave and the second worst paid vacation days, in the world. Coupled with almost universal "at will" dismissal. The USA is not, by any measure, a comfortable place to work considering it is the richest country in the world.

Any attempt to make this situation less onerous on the ordinary Americans is villifiled as Socialism and Marxist thinking by the oligarchy that rule.

I was over on a 3 month project with a major American Oil Corporation and none of what you stated is true with this corporation, infact they look after their employees very well both in USA and UK.

They are no longer in the UK as they sold all North Sea assets but they still look after their retirees

There are always exceptions. It does not mean the normal situation does not exist. Google it.

Actually what he has said is correct…

I am glad that about what you were offered by your company… but those would have been classed as “perks” of your job… not minimum “obligations “ under law

The minimum employment regulations under us law and the minimum employment regulations under uk law as two completely different beasts..
