Has anyone any idea what’s going on?

At this precise moment, the mad and recklessly dangerous is leading the worthy but impotent and ineffectual.

Either way, the US is still decaying to general insignificance over the next few decades - possibly with a big huff and a big bang that takes some of the rest of us with it.

(For which they'll blame China)

Hope that helps OP .

What's going on in what way? It's a vote for president. Donald Trump is winning at the moment.

What’s weird is that when I was younger (which is always - obviously), American used to seem to be the way to the future

. Shuttles - Springsteen - Minor Threat, the Simpsons- right now- it feels old and from the 50’s. Trump feels like Jonestown

(For which they'll blame China)

Hope that helps OP ."

It was the way to the future - in ways it couldn't understand.

That future (for the next 1-200 years or so) will be very Chinese, Indian, and African (accounting for over half the global population too).

And then that future itself makes way for another future.

All great powers rise, and decay, and stimulate others to rise (often via oppression as well as the funky, fun stuff).

That's necessary and I welcome it.

I just don't welcome the bloodshed that usually accompanies the process.

Don't forget - until 1700, China and India had been the world's biggest economies for around 2,000 years (Rome got close for around 300 years).

The European/American thing is a recent phenomenon.

If this is what the Americans want then good luck to them. I can't understand why they would want Trump to win but they obviously know something I don't. It's only 4 years and let's face it anything he does can be undone by future presidents.

Trump can undo the damage done by Biden.

Hes a businessman and entrepreneur...in general they make money and the correct decisions..

Our politicians have got us 3 trillion in debt and waste money left right and centre...because they arent business people, entrapaneurs or streetwise.

A silly example , 100 million on cycle lanes,in the last 5 years, where i live , just 1 example, never been maintained so there overgrown and unusable..

Ive loads of examples like this , all true where they totally waste money..

Vance is more of a danger than Trump! Any English business will suffer because he said immediately he will increase the costs of imported goods coming into the US by 15-20% and the Republicans have control of the senate too making his policies easier to pass. A very dangerous time for global politics.

Expect a massive cut in support for the Ukraine and Russia to make a big advance into the country; which is not a great situation.

The trade tariffs will hit us, especially as we have left out biggest trade group and are now on our own

And the UK/USA special relationship will be interesting.

Trump is not very forgiving and has a bit of a beef with Labour.

I think the world will be giving a collective shake of the head in amazement, all I can think of is those poor women who will now have to live in a country where the government has full body autonomy over them 😢 let alone what the rest of it he has planned

He inherited his fortune, then had a disastrous career in business, bankrupting 6 businesses and committing multiple counts of fraud.

Democrats failed again. The gloves will really be off now, expect a night of the long knives shortly and for legitimate elections to cease forthwith.

We will see how much of the project 2025 agenda he decides to try and push….

His evangelical base is going to push for the national abortion ban… they could in theory do it by the back door via the comstock act

Putting an anti vaxxer in charge at health (hhs) should worry people

How is his mass deportation plan going to work?

Will he make another run at leaving NATO?

And let’s see about those tariffs…

And he will get 2 more SCOTUS choices (alito and Thomas will retired… and you will get a conservative court majority for decades)

Why? I would have thought the opposite, Harris had policies, Trump had a long list of people he hates and calls socialists.

Obama was a fool for letting this happen, and the justices refusing to retire put themselves before their principles. This should never have happened.
