I think Harris will top the popular vote, something like 52/48, but Trump will win the election by a couple of States.

"Only a few weeks until the USA votes for a new (or old) President on November 5th. So predictions please- who wins and by how much ?"

I was going to do a primer at some point as to what to look for

Might as well do it now….

Basically the election is going to come down to 6 states… the rust belt 3 (Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin) and the sun belt 3 (Georgia, Nevada and Arizona)

These are the 6 states Harris is playing a little bit of defence

The simplest way to put it would be that Trump would need to win 4 of those 6 states that Biden won last time to win the election…..

And then there is the wild card…. North Carolina

This is the one state last time trump won.. that Harris could this time… last time Trump beat Biden in NC by 0.8%

If Harris wins North Carolina, which is absolutely doable… then trump would need 5 of the 6 swing states to win

I think Harris will win the rust belt 3… Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin.. that gets her to 270 and she wins the election

I wouldn’t be surprised if she pulls off North Carolina as well

I think Harris will win, by a close margin. The democrats did well replacing Biden. They would have lost it if he was their presidential candidate

"I read somewhere that the pollsters underestimated the Trump vote in 2020 so are overestimating it this time. Who knows."

That is an interesting question… because for example in Arizona, in Georgia, heck even in Florida (which is probably just out of reach in the presidential race, but the democrats winning the senate seat is doable because the sitting republican is so unpopular) there is also certain abortion right statues that are on the ballot as well that may drive certain people out to vote

My best guess is “down ballot” both house and senate flip , just because of what is needing to be defended on the Democratic Party side in this senate cycle

I think the house will go from republican to democratic control…

the senate from democratic to republican control

Fabian, the democratic response to the hurricane un North Carolina is non existent and is being carried out by the public.

Thank you kamala and joey you have hopefully sealed up the vote for President Trump in NC

The polls have it as a win for the Democrats. But then again polls always seem to reflect more votes for the democrats than they actually get. So who knows.

"Not too bothered about the U.S election but if I had to pick, with the greatest reluctancy I would vote for Donald Trump based on economic policy alone"

That’s an interesting perception… because the communist leftists rag .. the Rupert murdoch owned.. Wall Street Journal literally started yesterday that 70% of economists believe that Harris proposal for the economy would be better than Trump

Also that trumps economic policies would lead to higher inflation, interest rates and deficit than under Harris

And the federal budget deficit would increase by twice the number than it would under Harris

So.. if you were using the fiscal argument…

Democrats actually run the country way more fiscally than republicans do… and it’s basically Been that way for 50 years

I think there's going to be a twist in the tale of this year's election. Possibly a dispute about who actually won.

Whatever happens it'll not be a totally free and fair election.

Just a hunch/opinion.

Side note....did you see the car crash CBS 60 minutes interview with harris? Absolutely hilarious. Her answers were so stupid and vague that the interviewer had to over dub his own voice to explain an answer she gave to a question. Her non-answer word salads are legendary!

It's a good thing that whoever gets elected neither Trump or harris makes any decisions about what happens in America.

Absolutely true trumps tariffs plan will increase inflation in the states he has repeatedly lied on cutting social security and getting rid of Obama care this would be devestating to a majority of older Americans. The only reason the economy was good when trump was president is the 78 consecutive months of job growth under Obama who left trump with a good economy which started going down hill after trumps first year

Sorry rant over

Lets just look at the last week:

He refuses to do the 60 minutes interview (and then comes up with a number of excuses)

He refuses to release his medical records (if this had been Biden republicans would have lost their shit!)

He managed to mess up a soft ball interview on Fox News (in fact the only place he now does any interviews is trump friendly networks)

At his own organised town hall event last night, he stopped taking questions, finished it 40 minutes early and just danced around on the stage like a senile DJ

Let me save you a good nights sleep…

This election will not be decided on election night!

Just because of the various different ways the republicans have tried to suppress the voting and counting process.. I doubt that Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona and Wisconsin will be called on the night!

I have a bet with a friend it won’t be called till Friday

Installed a candidate just as incompetent as joey. Americas failings in the last four years are just attributable to kamal as joey.she touts change, why has she waited this long, and what gives anyone confidence that her change will be any better.

You are 100 percent correct obama will be pulling the puppet strings for kamala and little tampon timmy.

Trump will stand alone and be carrying out his own agenda.

Lots of legislation by individual states that has made the voting process hopefully more transparent and less susceptible to fraud.

We shall see.

The dems have had the white house for 12 of the last 16 years and America is in the shitter. Trump promised so much (drain the swamp, lock her up...etc etc) but delivered so little. Anyone that thinks trump is some sort of saviour needs a boot up the arse....however, anyone that thinks harris is a sound, strong, robust and effective leader needs their arse booted also. Neither have the interests of the American people at heart and the agenda rolls on towards dystopia.

In the American system of Govenment, to have any real effect, you need to control the House of Representatives, Senate and White House.

Trump had all three and used it to pass laws that reduced Tax on companies like his own at a cost of $3 trillion in borrowing to the USA. He also altered the balance of SCOTUS to make it a branch of the extreme right wing of the Republican party.

Biden only has the Senate. He passed the Infrastructure Bill, despite Republican opposition, and other executive orders. A bipartisan bill, created by the senate to deal with the Southern border, was sent to the House and rejected on the orders of Trump so he could use it as an election issue.

Only one fact is clear and undeniable. This current term of the House, because of the MAGA zealots, has passed fewer Laws than any in the history of the USA. Something must be done to redress this in the November election.

Adding to this, Obama only had control of both the house and senate for 2 of his 8 years in office… when he had full control his passed the affordable care act

Getting 40 million people healthcare… as opposed to a 3 trillion dollar tax cut put onto the deficit

Shows the parties priorities I suppose…

Actually….. it does… in the sense of legal migration

For example, our lovely Haitian immigrants who are living in Springfield, Ohio (they of the now infamous eating pet’s smears) were actually placed there under trump’s TPS (temporary protective status) scheme specifically to help local factories because there were not enough local residents to do the jobs

Without migration there would be no low market meat packaging industries, there would be no mass agricultural industry, there would be no mass building industry

To name but a few

Betting markets currently have Trump at highest probability of winning since Harris became Dem candidate. Roughly they have Trump at 55% chance of winning against 45% for Harris.

"Betting markets currently have Trump at highest probability of winning since Harris became Dem candidate. Roughly they have Trump at 55% chance of winning against 45% for Harris."

Betting markets are there so that bookies have the same money on both sides so they don’t lose….

Nate silver who did 538.com and now does his own independent stuff on his political modelling has it 50.7-49.3 in favour of Harris and the gap has narrowed a lot!

Who has momentum at the moment? Good question… what I would say if that Harris is doing all media ( breakfast club yesterday, Fox News with bret baier tonight, Univision tomorrow, the Joe rogan podcast next week, and a cnn town hall next week) … and Trump seems to be retreating to as little as possible ( cancelled on CNBC yesterday, the not very good interview with the Bloomberg reporter, his very weird town halls where he refused to answer questions and turned dj)

The more they are questioning his mental acuity (he told people to go and vote on January 5th yesterday… imagine if it had been Biden who had said that.. he would have been getting pelted!) the more he is regressing to doing trump friendly puff pieces

Betting markets are there so that bookies have the same money on both sides so they don’t lose….

Nate silver who did 538.com and now does his own independent stuff on his political modelling has it 50.7-49.3 in favour of Harris and the gap has narrowed a lot!

"

I believe 538.com gave Hilary Clinton a 70% chance of winning in 2016 so perhaps not the most reliable source.

"Who cares? Endemic of America that two absolute morons are the best they can come up with to contest the most powerful office in the world. Apart from the knesset cos everyone now knows that Israel runs the cosmos."

People care for various reasons. US is a world power, the stability of that country has a knock on effect. If they elect someone who thinks science isn't real, they'll pull out of the Paris climate agreement again. Etc.

Some people have empathy for ordinary Americans who have been having a bad time of it the last 8 years.

And because people care because US news gets disproportionately reported in the news here. And because Trump is always news worthy with whatever mad shit he's saying and doing, whom he's been sexually abusing etc.

"I think Harris will win, by a close margin. The democrats did well replacing Biden. They would have lost it if he was their presidential candidate

I agree, replacing Biden was key and seems to have turned things around.

As much as I don't like much of the policy being touted, it's definitely less awful than what Trump is offering.

America desperately needs a functioning human as president. It'll have been 8 years since they had anything like that. you think the USA needs more migrants

You've mixed me up with someone else. I haven't commented on US immigration.

then lol I think that’s what’s going to fuck it up for Harris it was her job and she was a fuck up

This is a good point though. People have no idea what's going on, even when it's spelled out for them in a thread they're contributing to. I can see why some people would think voting for Trump is a good idea if they're willfully ignoring reality. maybe they seen the interview with Harris when asked questions she said she would take a holistic approach apparently putin shit a brick thought it was a new missile until he googled it then fell of his chair laughing

Maybe who has seen what interview?

Why would Putin "shit a brick" or fall off his chair over an interview with the VP?"

aw sorry you won’t of seen it it wasn’t on the bbc I believe lol

Harris and the Democratic Party have been utterly unfit to govern the last few years.

Strong leadership is needed

You seem to have contradicted yourself here. Do you want trump to win, or do you want strong leadership?"

Haven’t contradicted a thing, the only thing that’s black and white is that the dems have had the chances to govern, secure the border and aid with the cost of living crisis.

All they’ve done is point the finger elsewhere

Just remember too, that this is my opinion and that it shouldn’t hurt your feelings

You can see above comments from other posters that debunk these statements you've just made.

And anyway what's this got to do with your contradiction? Remember you asserted "Would like to see Trump win." And "Strong leadership is needed". Statements that appear contradictory.

"The dems have had the white house for 12 of the last 16 years and America is in the shitter.

Shows the parties priorities I suppose…"

You are right.

US Election - Who Wins ? - The only thing I do know is the good citizens of the USA lose. I genuinely think Trump is showing "degenerative" signs of being Compos mentis. Same as afflicted Biden but not as severe by a long way. But he's already a compulsive lying "man-child" to start with. Harris is a very poor orator, unable to hold her own in interviews and seems bereft of basic knowledge you'd expect a candidate to possess.

I am really glad I don't have a dog in this fight. Red or Blue??? Neither very poor candidate is a winner to me.

This is an interesting one. Whether they're Tories, Labour, UKIP, Reform or whatever they're not - I think its pretty safe to say - eligible to vote in November. At what point legally then does it become Election Interference in a Foreign Country?

I admit I certainly don't know the answer but I know that crime exists in International Law though!

So the Labour party is sending its staff to support Kamala in the election. This is wrong in so many ways.

Why interfere with another country's elections? How is this any different from the "Russian interference" that most lefties cry about whenever a democratic decision goes against their choice?

Also, what happens if Trump wins? You end up starting at the back foot with the president of a country that's your biggest ally.

Looks like Labour cares more about other things over the country's future.

This is quite common. Dems had people in GB observing McSweeney's strategy in the lead in to this years election and I can recall an interview with Neil Kinnock saying about the cooperation during election times. I don't for one nothing it's election interference more a learning opportunity.

"Only a few weeks until the USA votes for a new (or old) President on November 5th. So predictions please- who wins and by how much ?

I wouldn’t be surprised if she pulls off North Carolina as well "

That's a pretty decent analysis Fabio and could well prove to be correct.

However I think that voter motivation (or apathy) will play a big part this time.

I just have a feeling that Trump's supporters could just be a bit more motivated to get out and vote. It wouldn't need that many democrats to sit on their hands to turn the whole thing around.

Oh and just to echo what others have said on this thread: It really is a sad state of affairs when a country of nearly 400 million people can only offer the choice of these two as president. It really beggars belief.

I think Harris will win the rust belt 3… Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin.. that gets her to 270 and she wins the election

I wouldn’t be surprised if she pulls off North Carolina as well

That's a pretty decent analysis Fabio and could well prove to be correct.

However I think that voter motivation (or apathy) will play a big part this time.

I just have a feeling that Trump's supporters could just be a bit more motivated to get out and vote. It wouldn't need that many democrats to sit on their hands to turn the whole thing around.

Oh and just to echo what others have said on this thread: It really is a sad state of affairs when a country of nearly 400 million people can only offer the choice of these two as president. It really beggars belief.

Motivation could work both ways. Trump being Trump might motivate people to get out there and vote for the other candidate, whomever they are."

Of course. We will know which ones in 3 weeks.

"This is quite common. Dems had people in GB observing McSweeney's strategy in the lead in to this years election and I can recall an interview with Neil Kinnock saying about the cooperation during election times. I don't for one nothing it's election interference more a learning opportunity.

Looks like Labour cares more about other things over the country's future."

Is Labour sending staff just to observe and learn though? It looks like they are going to actually campaign in favour of Democrats. Isn't that election interference?

""The left-leaning British Labour Party is sending nearly 100 members to U.S. battleground states to campaign for Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the presidential election"

If true, I didn't think that sort of thing was allowed, Now imagine the outrage if those pesky Russians done this

You missed "of staff". You edited the quote to make it sound more dramatic.

The funny thing here is Musk getting involved saying "this is illegal". Yet he has no issues interfering all over the shop.

I didn't miss any of the quote, I came across it on Twitter, I then googled it and came across it on NBC 15 News, My point being anyone who is a MP or works for them shouldn't be interfering in other countries elections

I second that "

Would this also apply to the mp for clacton speaking at trump campaign events….

Just asking “for a friend “

Nope… definitely in his first few weeks of him being the mp for clacton he definitely missed a few “constituency surgeries “ for a few trips to the states…

He even went out to the republican national convention instead of few votes in parliament

CPAC is organised by a union, not the Republican Party.

I'm sure there's others though, seeing as you said there were multiple.

That’s being disingenuous… CPAC is basically the republican “superbowl” … because the Republican national convention only happens every 4 years to in effect chose a presidential candidate, CPAC is basically akin and acts like the Conservative Party conference year on year

That's not what I said is it?

Labour staff are paid employees of our governing party. They should not be siding with another party from any country in the run up to an election. That goes for any paid employees of any party.

Besides, it looks like that plan has been cancelled. Another thing the Labour party clearly didn't think through.

As someone who watches american politics from afar (a lot more interesting than our lot) i cant quite understand how its even close. Trump is a walking advert for dementia. Hes flailing away at rallies by rambling on about whatever pops into his head(dems looking to ban windows?)cows, sharks and anything else that makes no sense. Had a rally in detriot where he proceeded to disparage every part of the place! Hes lost the plot, He has no policies that make any sense, goes on about how he will cut inflation, gas prices, grocery prices (newsflash! He cant change the prices) and anything else that he thinks will rally his rabid base. He's now cancelled nearly every interview that he had scheduled for the next 18 days.He has a 30-35% guaranteed voter turnout and maybe pushing 40% but the GOP have pissed off far too many women with Roe etc to make up the shortfall.

Now Harris is no superstar in the US political system but in a 2 horse race where one of the horses is lame then then i can see only 1 winner

I do find it interesting that trump leads Harris in male voters by 7, but Harris leads Trump in women’s voters by 16

And bearing in mind that women are more likely to vote than men……..I still think it will be close but at the moment, the momentum for me is with Harris… this Joe rogan podcast interview could be epic

Now Harris is no superstar in the US political system but in a 2 horse race where one of the horses is lame then then i can see only 1 winner

I think you picked up on Two of the most fascinating things for me… after the republicans saying that Kamala was being protected from the press, it actually Harris’s doing all the media everywhere, and Trump who has retreated to just Fox News..

After his disasters on Bloomberg and Univision this week I honestly doubt he will not do anything but fox news fluff interviews for the rest of this campaign (and even the way Fox News has been called out by the rest of the media for being trumps shield has been glorious!)

The otheryou must of wached a diffrent Bloomberg interview than me then so you think Harris is fantastic lately on interviews?she is shocking have you seen trump on the catholic convention one I can’t think of the name of it the one Harris didn’t turn up for ?"

She actually sent in a video for the Al smith dinner, trump can’t really talk because he didn’t show up for the Al smith dinner in 2020, but Biden did!

And then Trump goes on fox and friends yesterday and says some people at Fox News helped him write his jokes! That not a great look

The bloke on the Bloomberg interview had to basically teach him basic economics on how his tariffs proposal was going to work in the real world.. and when he didn’t like it he resorted to attacking the interviewer

Harris on Fox News… it was combative… bret baier went after her from the very start, he landed some blows, I am so glad Harris called out fox and baier trying to play a clip out of context to defend Trump .. by the way the fox all women town hall.. fox “forgot” to mention it was full of republicans officials and state party members..

Anyway… going back to Harris and Fox News.. I’d score that interview even, he got her to backpedal a bit, she got the click bait answers she needed, Fox News getting caught in real time not being on the level was a bonus!

Trump on the Univision town hall was a five alarm dumpster fire! If you look up in the thread earlier you’ll notice I asked about what would happen in certain industries without immigrants working in them… and god bless the audience for asking him

His answers were all over the place… that answer about January 6th may be the.single worst answer anyone has given to a question this entire election cycle! The answer about keeping guns out of school was shocking, and he doubled down on the immigrants eating pets thing by also alluding they may be eating other things as well

I do start to wonder if avid Trump supporters have a span of attention that is over stretched by TikTok posts or YouTube shorts.

The Trump campaign and Fox News try very hard to take sound bites from Trump's speeches that make him look good. However, if you look at the whole speech, it appears, when he stops using the teleprompter, he loses his train of thought within moments.

Possibly the worst recent display of this was the Bloomberg interview. Trump was asked legitimate questions about his policies, because that is what the audience wanted to hear, he had no idea. He thinks Tariffs are the greatest thing for the people of the USA.

As a point to consider, imagine you needed open heart surgery and you asked your surgeon what he is going to do. Surely, if he spoke like Trump, you would be scared shitless.

Vivek would've absolutely wiped the floor with Harris or Biden as it was back then.

Unfortunately Republican voters were far too stupid to see that.

Watch the whole of Bret Baier interview, start to finish. She was interrogated by a well prepared and experienced hostile host who tried to talk over her when she answered his "gotcha" questions. She did as good as any politician.

Trump's reply was a room full of MAGA disciples and softball questions.

Vivek Ramaswamy is far more switched on and potentially proper competition for Harris.

Sadly for the Republicans, he has no political experience and wound up stooping to floor level stupidity and name calling to try and relate to Trump's base. At least he realised he needed to do that to have any chance of success. He should stand for the House of Reps and get some experience.

"As someone who watches american politics from afar (a lot more interesting than our lot) i cant quite understand how its even close.

Going to be a great election night. Will be watching with interest.

Let me save you a good nights sleep…

This election will not be decided on election night!

Just because of the various different ways the republicans have tried to suppress the voting and counting process.. I doubt that Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona and Wisconsin will be called on the night!

I have a bet with a friend it won’t be called till Friday "

And then Trump will refuse to accept he did not win in California, New York, etc etc..

Why?

It’s amazing that so few seem to understand the objectives of the founding fathers, isn’t it? America is a nation of immigrants.

I don't particularly like Harris's politics. But I would vote for her over Trump. She's a functioning human, can speak, knows what science is, isn't a sexual assault enthusiast. I love this she can speak lmao you clearly haven’t seen her recent interviews

Yes you brought this up before and tried to use it to bash me. Maybe this time you can be clearer and tell us which interview you're talking about?i can’t remember which ones go on YouTube it’s full of them mate

So you don't know, and yet you tried to ridicule me on another thread for not knowing which interview you're talking about.

Amazing.

Anyway, I've watched several full interviews with her. She speaks as clearly as most politicians.

If you're trying to suggest that Trump can in some way communicate more clearly and concisely, then I would suggest you watch some of his full interviews. "

The President of the USA has a huge impact on Britain and Europe. If Trump gets back into power he will withdraw support for Ukraine and push Putin's Armies up to the EU borders.

In the past he has been anti NATO so we may well find ourselves on our own. He has an America first mantra which means putting tariffs on our exports making them more expensive in the USA. The USA is a big market for us to lose. So it does affect us a lot.

From the ACLU website:

‘Donald Trump’s administration initiated a sustained, years-long effort to erase protections for LGBTQ people. This included an effort to “define ‘transgender’ out of existence,” erode protections for transgender students and workers, and weaken access to gender-affirming health care that most transgender people already struggled to access.’

But this doesn’t concern you…

Well maybe that’s your issue then _estival… because the stuff at town halls isn’t “waffle for hours”… it’s questions on different topics that quite frankly you should be able to answer fairly quickly…

He was asked what he would do about the agriculture industry since most of its labour is done by undocumented immigrants…. He gave a really shit answer

He was asked about January 6th and accepting the result… he gave a really shit answer

He was asked how he his administration would deal with guns in schools… he gave a really shit answer

He was asked why he doubled down on the immigrants eating pets thing when everyone has said it’s not true… he gave a really shit answer

A question on hurricane relief and climate change… really shit answer

And so on… it was bad!.. really bad!
