Glasgow

Passed away at age of 69 after giving a speech in North Macedonia.

Regardless of political disagreements he was an incredibly important politician in Scotland. No doubt he loved the country. RIP.

Alex Salmond was among the four significant major political figure in my lifetime. I rate him along with Margaret Thatcher, Tony Blair and Nigel Farage as the four political figures that made the greatest political impact.

From the highest mountain to the deepest Loch was the greatness of the task he faced for Independence. He probably only realised when it was too late what a mammoth task it was to achieve.

At least he tried. A definite history maker.

'm still waiting for those women who landed him in court to be charged with perjury. But funnily enough that's never happened, despite the late Mr Salmond proving in court they were lying. Hence his inevitable acquittal.

Hey I'm no Salmond supporter, it all meant nothing to me really but thoughts with his family at this time, as it should be.

RIP

PS - should the dead still enjoy legal protection against defamation? Maybe even more so as they can't defend themselves? That's one for another post maybe but makes you think.

outside your bedroom window ;-)

There is definatley a conversation on his sexual needs, however at the end of the day he was found not guilty.

Never underestimate the English states ability to tarnish their foes.

Splitting the personal from the political. A missive political character who took the SNP from party od tartan and shawls to one of the most respected in the land.

Will go down as a titan of Scottish and UK politics.

No I'm not an snp supporter.

He delivered the vote to the Scottish people. They voted against it.

I think that is a fair assessment. He took Scottish independence as far as it would go and the people of Scotland said ‘no’ pretty decisively.

Kicking the bucket while trying to open a bottle of ketchup is not the way he would want to be remembered. The Grim Reaper must have a sense of humour after all.

RIP you poor bugger.

I agree and I was very sad hearing of his death.

I will attend his funeral memorial in weeks to come as I have great respect for his loyalty to Scotland.

Regardless of party politics and beliefs, I truly respect this man.

It was only “the English state” that tarnished his reputation? I thought it was allegations from within his own party.
