Sounds like an average sort of day in one of the UK's shit-hole cities. People know what it's like and they still go, and personally, my main thought is meh.

“Around 7,000 officers will be on duty to keep everyone attending safe and to respond to any incidents” 23 Aug 2024

@£200 a day that’s £1,400,000.

Investigating firearms and weapons offences - CiD

Hospital treatment, paramed, intensive care for victims

For the murders and sexual assaults - ‘A six to 12-month investigation costs approximately £67,968 but increases to £453,115 per officer after five years’ (web police federation)

Legal aid for the arrested. Courts etc.

£12m does not sound a lot

Regarding the fatal stabbings, has anyone seen any info on how the stabbings occurred?

In the case of the woman who had her kid with her, it’s not as though two blokes from rival gangs were having a fight and one of them pulled a knife. Somehow, someone ended up stabbing a young mother and killing her. How could such a thing have happened?

Went once and it wasn't really my thing.

As it gets later in the Monday afternoon you can see the mood change. Saw a guy getting into an argument with his girlfriend and then started repeatidly punching her in the face.

Knew it was then time to leave!

Dont know why anyone is surprised about the carnival has been like it for years, used to go mid 90s till mid 2000s daytime is usually ok up there but once it gets past about 6 in the evening it gets sketchy as fuck no matter what day you choose to go, but hey i suppose if you have a load of 15-23 year olds from across all the london boroughs pissed up then scores are going to be settled, my advice if your goung to go is get outa there before the evening comes

Why is it with this event that attracts this?

Is it coincidence or something going on?!

Personally I don't see why the carnival should be stopped because of a small minority of scumbags.

Personally, anyone just carrying s knife should be getting a lengthy sentence.. 5 years minumum

Genuinely, I think Carnival has outgrown it's area. It's so crowded that a little bit of argy bargy and machismo escalates too quickly.

I don't think moving it to a field or park is the solution , I think that expanding the Carnival area and moving some of the soundsystems further out may help the overcrowding and reduce the conflicts.

Five people were shot Monday at New York City’s West Indian American Day Parade, police said. It’s the latest instance of violence marring one of the world’s largest annual celebrations of Caribbean culture.

A gunman targeting a specific group of people opened fire along the parade route in Brooklyn around 2:35 p.m., NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell said.

Two people were critically wounded, Chell said. The three other victims are expected to survive their injuries, he said. The gunman fled.

Some people attending the parade were shaken by the violence.

“I’m crying over this, it’s so terrible. How can someone have the heart to fire a gun around so many people — babies, children, the elderly,” Jalissa Bailey told the New York Post.

“I know this parade has a history of violence, but things have been peaceful in recent years, and we got to hoping that there was enough security in place that maybe that was over with,” Bailey said.
