"An ex-inspector has claimed that Notting Hill Carnival is 'the ultimate in two-tier policing' as more than a million people are set to descend on west London to enjoy the festivities. Notting Hill is one of the longest-running street parties in the UK and celebrates Caribbean culture with vividly costumed performers taking part in a parade through the streets with dancing and music. But carnivals in the past have also been marred by violence. There were eight stabbings and 275 arrests at the 2023 event and 7,000 Met Police officers are set to be deployed onto the streets of Kensington. Despite the high number of arrests and heavy police presence, a retired Met Police detective chief inspector has alleged that officers are hesitant to make arrests during the event for fears of being called racist. Mike Neville spoke to the Daily Telegraph where he leaned into the growing conspiracy theory that two-tier policing exists in Britain. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13777675/met-police-notting-hill-carnival-riots-london.html#comments 8 stabbings and 275 arrests, if it was a n annual football game, would it get the same treatment? plus the costs and 7000 officers being dragged from other areas ... makes you think?" There is no need to stop carnival. No one is talking about stopping the big name music festivals, with the drug use and assaults that happen there. As football has been mentioned, let's look at what spikes Domestic violence calls. Football such the world cup or any Big football game. There would never dare be a suggestion that football be stopped. Why? Because of money. Speaking as a Black person, 2 tier policing if it does exist has been done so with the black community for years, just saying this as an observation. This conversation is just some thing else to divide people FFS! There is a lot of history behind Notting hill carnival and it would be really sad to allow those who cause trouble to ruin it and have it stopped for good!!

"Officers aren't hesitant to make arrests at Carnival due to fear of racism, it simply isn't practical or in the publics interest to make arrests for low level offences (smoking in public, use of gas n air etc). The police at carnival do an excellent job given the challenging conditions and make appropriate arrests where necessary." So low level crime is forgotten or not acted on? Where is the line?

"I want to know if Mayor Khan calls " J'ouvert" at the beginning of London's carnival, in the true Caribbean spirit, or is he still in hiding from ULEZ protesters? It will be three tier policing if they have to look after him as well!" Nah, he just pops up for a quick photoshoot at the start of carnival with Amy Lame (like he does at Pride in June) then jumps into his armoured plated range rover and fucks off back home.

" I suspect that the carnival also brings in a lot of revenue to local business, shop's, bars, hotels, eating establishments and all hire equipment, tents, gazebos, sound systems, etc Not having the festival would I expect impact very heavily on the local economy Many towns and cities put on event's like this to bring money in " Actually a lot of businesses have to close for the weekend (for obvious reasons), I think it's more about cultural benefits rather than financial.

Okay… let’s use your football analogy.. and let’s be generous to you and use the largest stadium in the country.. Wembley So … 2 million at carnival equals 22 full capacity football games at Wembley (90,000) So… let’s divide everything you just said by 22 0.35 stabbing per Wembley event 12 arrests per Wembley event 320 extra officers per Wembley event For big time high risk game at Wembley…. The met would absolutely bite your hand off for those figures!!!!

"I never use to go to carnival on the Sunday anyway….that’s children and families day Monday was the one for the big kids… Anyway the misconception of the carnival is that you follow the whole route round.. oh god no! Most people fall into 1 of two groups 1) you walk till you find a spot on the main route… you park your arse there and you watch all the floats go by! 2) you walk till you find a good sound system playing your type of music …. You park your arse there and you listen and dance to the music! You tend to know what parts to avoid if you are smart " Why would you need to avoid certain areas? Surely the police know about these areas?

"Update at 23:00hrs on Monday 26 August There are only a small number of people left in the vicinity of Carnival. Officers remain in the area to ensure any further incidents can be dealt with. Throughout the day, officers have used their search powers to take weapons off the streets and prevent additional serious violence. Three firearms have been recovered, two at Carnival and one during a vehicle stop in Harrow involving individuals believed to be on their way to the event. As of 22:50hrs there had been five stabbings, two incidents where victims sustained slash wounds and one incident involving a corrosive substance Two of those who were stabbed are in a life threatening condition. The 32-year- old woman stabbed on Sunday also remains in a life threatening condition. There were 35 officers injured . They are receiving our full support. As of 22:45hrs, there had been 230 arrests. The breakdown of offences for Monday's arrests so far is as follows: 49 x possession of an offensive weapon 8 x sexual offences 15 x other violence 2 x vehicle crime 11 x possession with intent to supply drugs 40 x possession of class B drugs 6 x possession of drugs (other) 3 x other theft offences 22 x other offences 37 x assault on an emergencyworker 9 x violence with injury 1 x possession of a firearm 1 x harassment 9 x possession of class A drugs 4 x possession of nitrous oxide 2 x theft from a person 11 x public order offences" Will Starmer be demanding stiff jail sentences or do we have dual sentencing in play?

"Geek alert… Given that policing is paid by taxes, and additional taxes raised during the festival make it value for money, I’ll address the crime part… Assuming 2million people attended, and that there were 8 recorded stabbings over the 3days: the festival is less than the national average of stabbing per million per day. Population: 65million Reported stabbings per year 55,000 = 3.25 per million / per day. Which means the national avg would be 9.75 over the 3 day festival, making it actually safer than not being at the festival 😊 (All numbers exclude Devon & Cornwall as for some reason, the gov data doesn’t included them) Most interesting, see both sides of this, but does this take into account what an economist refers to as 'Opportunity cost' - That's often the 'real cost' since economics essentially is the 'science of the administration of scarce means of production having alternative uses for the satisfaction of human wants'. the key words being 'alternative uses' ? put simply, do we build more Warships or Hospitals - please take this note in the d=firendly, though provoking manner intended "

You tend to know what parts to avoid if you are smart Why would you need to avoid certain areas? Surely the police know about these areas? Of course the police know where the bigger groups of people are likely to be… You don’t need to avoid any part but you can be smart… you sound like a person who has never been to Notting Hill but for example back in the day you know where the “radio 1” event is taking place on the route (underneath the westway) , you knew where the kiss fm soundstage was ( nearer to the Notting Hill end), you knew exactly where certain pirate radio station systems were ( just by Westbourne Park station a little bit off the main parade route) They hand out maps of the parade route, they tell you even as pedestrians which streets you can cut through to get from a to b “You tend to know which parts to avoid if you’re smart” “You don’t need to avoid any parts”. I’m confused. Are there areas that need to be avoided or not? And why do they need to be avoided? Mike Neville spoke to the Daily Telegraph where he leaned into the growing conspiracy theory that two-tier policing exists in Britain. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13777675/met-police-notting-hill-carnival-riots-london.html#comments 8 stabbings and 275 arrests, if it was a n annual football game, would it get the same treatment? plus the costs and 7000 officers being dragged from other areas ... makes you think?" It's the scumbags carrying and using knives and guns that need stopping. Question is how do you do it?

The breakdown of offences for Monday's arrests so far is as follows: 49 x possession of an offensive weapon 8 x sexual offences 15 x other violence 2 x vehicle crime 11 x possession with intent to supply drugs 40 x possession of class B drugs 6 x possession of drugs (other) 3 x other theft offences 22 x other offences 37 x assault on an emergencyworker 9 x violence with injury 1 x possession of a firearm 1 x harassment 9 x possession of class A drugs 4 x possession of nitrous oxide 2 x theft from a person 11 x public order offences Will Starmer be demanding stiff jail sentences or do we have dual sentencing in play? I'm sure they will be before the beak and 3 year sentence by dinnertime and labelled right wing Imagine if they were participating in planning a peaceful environmental protest. Banged up for five years. Two tier policing. Weak point. Not the same thing. And I don’t accept that the actions of the eco-terrorists are “peaceful”, deliberately disrupting the country’s infrastructure. Yeah, planning a non-violent environmental protest is definitely much more severe crime than race hate rioting. Haven't environmentalists targeted vandalism at famous works of art before? Mrs x Sure. But I'm talking specifically about comparing the guy who got five years for planning a non-violent environmental protest, Vs the violent racist rioters. People who support the second group, seem to think their is a two tier justice system that unfairly labels and unfairly targets violent racists. I'm merely reminding them that harsher sentences get given for non-racist, non-violent crime, if it potentially endangers £££ The prison sentences were as a result of the repeated breaking of Court injunctions. Or Contempt of Court, but then you already knew that and chose to pedal the false narrative. Breaking court injunctions sounds way worse than rampaging rioting race hate enthusiasts.yes that’s the lefts label but forget about the ppl who where there to protest tar them all with the same brush looks better in the mainstream media If people are participating in violent race hate riots (even if not being violent themselves), they can hardly be upset about being labelled accordingly." it was a protest that turned violent not other way round but what do you know like you said before you only use mainstream media you haven’t a clue what really goes on working class ppl are fed up if multiculturalism works that well there be no protests burying your head in the sand just makes you blind

"Don't forget, diversity is our strength Import the third world you turn into the third word. Barbarism. And yet “certain” people look back at the empire and think of it as the golden era…… hmmmmm" It was. But what has that got to do with what is happening in our country today? And if the empire was so bad why did over 50 countries stay connected to britain by voluntarily joining the commonwealth? Couldn't have been that bad. Why did all those countries hold onto parliamentary democracy, human rights, rule of law, English....etc? Guess it wasn't like the Soviet empire where all the countries attached to it couldn't wait to escape from Russian influence. Guess it wasn't like the short lived nazi empire which left nothing but destruction. But you carry on and denigrate Britain and malign past leaders and never once talk us up.

" 100% stop it cost taxpayers 11 million per year. If it was a white culture event it would be seen as Far Right and banned. But little Keira party get on their knees for the black man. ------------------------------------------------------------- Oh dear, you're sounding quite insecure in your status. Have you ever attended the carnival? If so you'll know it's a celebration of inclusive multiculturalism, which hundreds of thousands of people from all communities attend. Ps black people pay tax too, as it appears important to you. Insecure ?? Please explain? ---------------------------------- Well clearly your limited experiences have given you a perverted view of society and your sense of self. I can't think of any 'white cultural events' that have been banned, nor would I describe the Carnival as a black one, white folks go and are welcomed too, you should try it, but probably best not to take Tommy with you!" Mmmm I can’t think of any other carnival with such high levels for stabbings either. I don’t know anyone called Tommy ? Who are you referring to ?

You are the one that call the 3rd world barbaric… and yet you invited them in on the windrush and various other ships…. The last major influx into Britain, prior to Blair, was in the 1600s when about 50,000 protestants moved here from France to escape persecution. There is no afro Caribbean, asian,Arabic history in this country. Well unless you include those who came after WW2? Our country has never experienced such a huge influx over a short space of time from the third world like we have experienced in the past decade. Never happened. Those who came after WW2 were relatively small in number and many integrated. That's gone now.

" Why did all those countries hold onto parliamentary democracy, human rights, rule of law, English....etc? " ------------------------- The foundation of English Law dates back to the Norman conquests and William I (an immigrant), there's also evidence it was influenced by mediaeval Islamic Law (ouch!). The principles of parliamentary democracy were heavily influenced by the Romans when they ruled here.

Mike Neville spoke to the Daily Telegraph where he leaned into the growing conspiracy theory that two-tier policing exists in Britain. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13777675/met-police-notting-hill-carnival-riots-london.html#comments 8 stabbings and 275 arrests, if it was a n annual football game, would it get the same treatment? plus the costs and 7000 officers being dragged from other areas ... makes you think?" No never - it is the best time people who are into black males or part of BMFC, Hope more black males join fab considering their humping capability and stamina that is liked by many here. So no don’t stop it, let it grow, they should do one in Manchester, Leeds and other northern cities too. Love to see them dancing, free living and humping. In fact British government must promote it at the same scale as Brazilian government do for their Rio festival, and name it Great British Humping festival. Trust me, this will attract 5-10 million people from all across the world. Boom time for all sorts of business.

"Curry is believed to have originated in the Indian subcontinent, or South Asia, as early as 2500 BCE in what is now Pakistan. The word "curry" comes from the Tamil word kari, which means "sauce" or "gravy", and the dish is made up of a sauce or gravy seasoned with ground spices like coriander, turmeric, cumin, and red chili. Other influences on curry include the Indus Valley Civilization, which used a mortar and pestle to blend spices like cumin, fennel, and tamarind pods, and the Mughal Empire, which influenced certain types of curry in the 15th century. " Still, I think we can all agree, the curry confusion is conclusive proof that multiculturalism doesn't work.

Why don’t you think multiculturalism doesn’t work it does work for most cultures but not all I agree here. Works for everyone except for the culture of bigotry and racism. Everyone else cracks on just fine. do why are we having problems then like most of Europe where as it actually worked with a certain culture and why and how ? I assume you have a theory? You say it’s worked everywhere so answer it can’t be thst hard or you want to keep calling bigots and racists What?" wher as it worked U.K. France germany Sweden or is it just a U.K. problem ?

It's fatuous to create a belief from the indiscretions of some members of minority communities and believe those features apply stereotypically to those communities as a whole, all communities are made up of individuals who have their own experiences and aspirations, they don't behave like an 'entity'.

"Why are we celebrating Caribbean culture? This is Britain, isn't it? We’re a wonderfully multicultural nation, isn’t that great? 🇯🇲🇧🇧🇧🇲🇭🇹🇹🇹🇬🇾🇧🇸🇱🇨🇰🇳 What's wrong with British culture? It’s Black British culture. Don’t like it? Blame the Empire. It was horrible anyway. " I think this poster puts it most succinctly. It's "Black British culture" and all the "Empire's" fault, apparently.

"do you think all cultures have worked in the U.K. and if so why are we talking about it most countries in Europe are having the same problems as us I think the stories we hear are very much more the exception rather than the rule…. And are sensationalised It’s a bit like using the story like the incident in Southport to suit a different narrative as in immigration ok the stories are sensationalised i think there numbed down by mainstream media but why then is it only the one culture we here these stories about look at France Belgium Germany Sweden and many more why are these having the same problems some even more than the U.K. " First the Jews couldn’t integrate, then the Irish, then Afro Caribbean people, then southern Asian people… Is there some sort of common denominator when it comes to all these different groups being unable to integrate into Britain?

The women in Malmo, Cologne....and on it goes, were TARGETED. See the difference?
