"Why are concerned citizens setting fire to the Holiday Inn, Tamworth? What are their legitimate concerns, and should we be sitting down and having a nice chat with them?" There's no excuse for this not the pelting of police offers with bricks, stones, planks of wood, burning wheelie bins etc. I notice that the majority of these big tough men, and some women, like to wear masks and do their taunting from the safety of a distance. Scum, the lot of them. The police are expected to deal with this when out numbered and with little more than riot shields for protection and gid help them if they move forward as opposed to retreating from the masses. Where are the water cannons, tear gas etc that would actually have an effect? I blame the Tories in that respect for their failure to keep the police numbers where they should be | |||

My problem with immigration is that it is out of control and that affects everyone's life. The answer to the problems of skills and labour shortages in the UK aren't solved solely by immigration, UNTIL the existing workforce, immigrants and workshy brits, are actually working and contributing. Allowing migrants to come in and do the jobs the workshy don't want to do is the easy way out. Once that issue is sorted, by all means economic migration is fine with me. How are you going to get the workshy British to work though. Are these people employable in the modern workplace, where most mindless, repetitive jobs have been replaced by machinery. Cut their out of work benefits, after all, they were supposed to be a safety bet, not a lifestyle choice...and in any case, I was under the assumption that the majority of the shitty or back breaking jobs were done by economic migrants not afraid to get their hands dirty. Protesters were throwing bricks at police who were just protecting themselves with their shields at this point when a few of the protesters then decided to smash the window of a mobile phone shop, run to the back past shared staff and run out with boxes of mobile phones, one of them was wearing a st Georges flag over his shoulders. Now lets forget left wing, right wing, racist, the other side started it, two many boat people etc. That is a ram raid and theft of fairly expensive items. Whatever cause or point they are fighting for what in your little speech justifies that? It's wrong and not acceptable for anyone to prowl the streets tooled up but if they thought the mob were headed to the mosque that might be a reason especially given what happened in Southport that they thought they needed to be..? Were the ones leaving the mosque also heading to the mosque? Cone on now..." I haven't seen the footage, I thought me asking 'where they..' might be an obvious clue..? Perhaps put a more precise description of what's been shown on, that way others can make a better assessment etc.. | |||

Might be mis remembering, but wasn't a similar excuse used by a group on remembrance day, when they claimed to have gone to protect the cenotaph Tommy rabble roused them yes so to try and carry that out they attacked the police.. It's possibly playing into the hands of the far right who will say look at them when some in the Muslim community are reacting but if it were the other way round it would be equally predictable.. I really fear someone will be killed.. That has already happened. Fatal attacks on Muslims in Uk is dwarfed by deaths caused in Uk by Islamic fundamentalism. Since 1970, there have been at least 3,395 terrorist-related deaths in the UK linked to Islam the highest in Western Europe (wiki) " But... That doesn't... Fit...you have to like it or be labelled right wing or trying to defend the indefensible. But.. Neither does it justify the violence and vandalism. | |||
