Is social funding. Numerous health secretaries, including Hunt, and PMs including Cameron and BJ, have promised to deal with this issue, invariably by ringfencing the social care budget to prevent it getting swallowed up by the NHS. It still hasn't happened and they won't now commit to it. It's about time we had a social care secretary with a separate budget

There's a real possibility that Labour will pour yet more funds into the NHS bottomless pit, and in doing so bankrupt the country. We'll be faced with the ignominy of going cap-in-hand to the IMF for a bail-out. Like Labour did in 1976 in fact.

There is also the real possibility that Labour will restore the NHS or certainly put the procedures in place to ensure that the British Public have a health organisation to be proud of once again after being left to decline after 14 years of Tory mismanagement.

Time will tell and, rather than being negative we should surely hope for a brighter future with a likely change in government.

C'mon you think Labour will do that? Seriously? The NHS is broken and beyond repair. It needs a fundamental re-think and a radically different model for both funding and delivery.

I actually agree with you on that but the British Public are very unlikely to allow that to happen.

Let's see what happens but, as I say, after 14 years of Tory mismanagement, it can only get better.

Totally agree, but would you scrap some elective elements of the NHS and make it more to do with saving life rather than improving life.

Cutting some services might save more lives. It would be a big move.

I believe the first step should be to scrap VAT on private healthcare procedures and services, making it more of an attractive offer by making it more affordable too more people. This should see a decrease in NHS waiting lists and increase the reach of the private sector.

Ideology apart, I can't see any problem with that plan. Likely cost neutral too, since lost VAT will be balanced by NHS savings.
