Given how Farage, Braverman and Orban feel about people gathering together to express their political views, I would’ve thought they would be applauding the mayor. Municipal autonomy is a cornerstone of our democracy but can never overrule the Belgian constitution guaranteeing the freedom of speech and peaceful assembly since 1830. All they have done is provide more ammunition to those at the conference to show that others are no longer confident of winning against these people or groups that they have to resort to banning them.
