US reported to begin supplying humanitarian aid by airdrops into Gaza

The irony, having supplied thousands of bombs to kill 30,000, injure 60,000, create 17,000 orphans, make 1.5 million people homeless they are now at last showing remorse for the survivors.

Remorse? Never.

Political pressure and it's an election year.

It's a bit of a glaring admission that biden and others are being ignored by Netanyahu and his core of hardline right wing friends in power ..

Maybe the aim as well as delivering much needed aid is to limit the air and artillery of the IDF but it's not going to be enough..

How many bombs has the US given to Israel?

The WSJ report said a surge of US arms to Israel since the start of the war has included 15,000 bombs and 57,000 155mm artillery shells that have primarily been carried on C-17 military cargo planes.( 2 Dec 2023)

"more than 100 UK-based suppliers" were involved in the construction of the F-35 including "BAE Systems, GE Aviation, Martin-Baker, SELEX, Cobham, Ultra Electronics, UTC Actuation Systems and Rolls-Royce".

“”Israeli forces are also known to be using F-16 fighter jets and Apache helicopters, which the UK government has previously admitted "almost certainly" contain British-supplied components.

“”The UK-made components in the F-16s include advanced targeting equipment such as head-up displays, head-down displays and enhanced display units”” used for targeting civilians.

The objective of the US is to make sure the arms industry makes as much $$$ as possible. Maybe they think they can sell more bombs and missiles if they drop a few sandwiches and bottles of water into them.

That is good to hear, your comment made me think that you believe the only reason the US are sending aid is to sell more weapons, which is cynical to the extreme.

Delighted to know that the US is sending aid and that a six week ceasefire is looking as though it is going to happen.

Interested to know if there is a long term plan to rebuild Gaza once this conflict is over.

Also interested to know who is going to pay for this?

The whole situation is terrible.

Thousands of innocent people killed by bombs and military that made a lot of money for a number of people and a number of countries.

Israel couldn't have done this without the support of the US and others so what's the endgame as I am sure it has been discussed?

Russia, Iran, China and numerous other countries are selling weapons too, Iran supplying hamas their weapons is part of the problem too wouldn't you say?

In my opinion the rebuild should be funded by Israel, Iran and Hamas.

If a ceasefire is agreed peacekeeping forces will only have one job, policing Gaza, and ensuring aid gets to the people and not into the hands of hamas, who would use it control the people.

Have we all been misinformed about the size of and support for Hamas

How do 20,000 - 30,000- 40,000 surviving militants control two million people. Although recent events has undoubtedly seen growth in their numbers.

Yep, and fear of stepping out of line. I don't know the figures but I believe long ago Britain's military presence in India was tiny compared to the Indian population.

There are some crude measures that can explain ratio of military to population for mass control, the four box model 20 military per 1000 people.

However that would be for a situation of invasion rather than internal control.

There are examples of how organisations intimidate and control the population, Mexican cartels being one of them.

The significant factor in favour of the ability for hamas to control is the fact that almost all people will be in contact with a hamas member through family or friends, the harsh punishment for betrayal, leading to rule by fear. and finally the support the population have for hamas.

Iran's arms industry is state owned as far as I can tell. They're not pushing for more war for profit like the US is. And it's certainly not at the same scale.

It's not comparable at all.

I don't know enough about their state owned arms industry to know if they are making any money out of arming Hamas. I'm guessing Hamas have a fraction of the budget than the combined military spending budget of Israel and the US combined.

It is universally known that hamas are funded, trained and armed by Iran.

It is also universally known that Iran use hamas, as they do houthis as a proxy for their war on the West.

They have and will continue to arm and train their proxies to bring instability to the West, this is how they profit from arming, funding and training hamas and will continue to do so.

"US reported to begin supplying humanitarian aid by airdrops into Gaza

The irony, having supplied thousands of bombs to kill 30,000, injure 60,000, create 17,000 orphans, make 1.5 million people homeless they are now at last showing remorse for the survivors.

The objective of the US is to make sure the arms industry makes as much $$$ as possible. Maybe they think they can sell more bombs and missiles if they drop a few sandwiches and bottles of water into them.

Would you prefer the US to have not dropped aid?

Nope.

That is good to hear, your comment made me think that you believe the only reason the US are sending aid is to sell more weapons, which is cynical to the extreme.

Probably is true though.

What do you think about Iran supplying weapons to hamas?

Not great.

And the aid Iran are supplying to hamas so they can keep them firing the weapons they have been given?

It is a 2 sided conflict....

Iran's arms industry is state owned as far as I can tell. They're not pushing for more war for profit like the US is. And it's certainly not at the same scale.

It's not comparable at all.

Your comment is really out of touch, shockingly out of touch.

How so?

I'm just commenting on the reality of the situation.

"

bit like what the west are doing in ukraine then, arming and training a country that has been occupied

Excellent.

What's this got to do with the US arms industry making serious wedge from the conflict?
