It seems a lot of councils are wading in on being or becoming without our taxes.

Kent being the biggest county has recorded bankruptcy.

Are you living in a bankrupt county? Council tax will be so high we might be having to move to cheaper A band but even that will sky rocket.

Good job they do not tax sex that be next

Essex County Council haven’t declared bankruptcy… yet.

But they’re quite happy to pay nearly half a million pounds to a shady bloke for “social media posts”

Levelling up funds seem to have missed these places.

Plymouth councils city centre revamp including illegal tree felling has gone from initial cost of £3.9m to latest figure of £36.8m.

I watched that video the other day. It really shows what a shit state the whole country is in.

Down here in Bournemouth is just as bad, town centre and suburbs littered with drug addicts, homeless and closed up shops. You won't see any of that in brochures, just nice photos of the beach.

Get Mrs Feisty in the brochure and tourism will boom and the beach won’t matter!

Sad state of affairs. Bradford city centre is pretty much a no go area now. The whole place has been run down for years.

Border of London

The entire UK governmental structure, from local to central, needs to have a good, hard, look at itself and ask "what are our core responsibilities, and how can we deliver on them". Politics, cronyism, inertia, inefficiency and poorly directed efforts erode all levels and sides of government.

There really needs to be some sort of reset and reprioritisation. Of pretty much everything.

Is it a case of paying more, or getting better run councils?

I would be perfectly happy to move to an area that wasn't run by a political party, more of a managed service provider, or several providers that would be directly answerable to the residents as shareholders.

I would also then be happier to pay great local taxes for improved services, police, fire, health, education etc.

It would have down sides, in terms of house prices rising and pushing out people who couldn't afford the uplift, it would also have greater rewards.

Private police and fire services? What happens if you fall behind on your payments, or don’t respect a bit of small-print?

Seriously, never underestimate the ability, and willingness, or private industry to remove your service and keep your money

Out on their ear if they can't pay, sell up and move on losers.

I'm creating an exclusive zone, not a socialist one

Better make sure your insurance hasn’t got any loopholes, or the fire brigade will let your gaff burn down.

She offered but as we don't have any 'pals' other council, they turned her down.

Shall I put your name down? You will need 3 sponsors who live in the area and sign a pre approved document for the new wall that is being built

Pretty sure I could afford it without the sponsors, but extreme capitalist hell isn’t my ideal home

It seems like a stupid idea to up sticks and move, because council tax is cheaper somewhere else.

Councils, like the NHS will be wasting millions every year, they should be held accountable by the tax payer.

“Sketching out Labour’s critique of the government’s economic record since 2010, Reeves said public debt as a share of national output was at the highest level since the 1960s; debt interest payments were at the highest level since the second world war; taxes as a share of national output were the highest since 1949; the economy was smaller than when Rishi Sunak became prime minister in October 2022; and the current parliament was on track to be the first in which living standards – as measured by real household disposable incomes – fell”

And £407,000 spunked on legal fees for the leach Duke of Sussex.
