"The court has basically given South Africa everything they asked for and ordered Israel to take measures to prevent a genocide… but just stopped short of ordering Israel to enact a ceasefire " Just read the news and I wonder why a ceasefire wasn't requested.

" Just read the news and I wonder why a ceasefire wasn't requested." Because of (possibly) two reasons. (a) a ceasefire is not required to prevent genocide (in the literal, not social media figurative definition). (b) (conjecture) the court ordering a ceasefire would mean that a group could terrorise, kid-nap then hide behind civilians and get immunity (relatively speaking) - it would be overstep and a dangerous precedent.

"The court has basically given South Africa everything they asked for and ordered Israel to take measures to prevent a genocide… but just stopped short of ordering Israel to enact a ceasefire " That is an interesting take on it. The only *material* ask was a ceasefire, which was rejected. In summary, Israel was told, "We're keeping an eye on you. You've gone over the top somewhat and you need to hold back. We will hold you to account. And Hamas - stop being dicks".

"Is this a serious claim? Since it's in front of the highest UN court I have to assume that this nonsense is being taken seriously...yet nothing from SA on the similarly genocidal act by their russian buddies. And the toothless UN gets closer to oblivion " 25k+ dead civilians Half of them children USA uk and allies supervising the killing Forget the UN court it’s the retaliation by suicide bombers to be worried about. Allies have made the western countries unsafe.

" Genocide is, at the very least not clear cut, and arguably nonsense. That was the point of the OP. Not that the horrific deaths of innocents is nonsense. Now there have been actual cases of genocide and ethnic cleansing in recent history, both in the Middle East and Asia. For some reason, those don't get so much attention.

"Genocide is the intentional destruction of a people in whole or in part." The intention from Israel is to take over Gaza and kill as many innocent people as possible. As of Tuesday 26 December, 29,124 Palestinians had been killed. 11,422 children. 5,822 women. 481 health personnel. 101 journalists. "If not genocide what is it? 20 to 30,000 civilians killed whilst penned behind steel fences. Half the dead women and children. What is the purpose of so many civilian deaths? Modern munitions can be accurately targeted. Civilians are not a military threat. So why?" $$$ Simple as that.

"Israel is a rogue state, founded on terrorism, genocide and land theft. The undisciplined, recklessly homicidal IDF (a terrorist organisation, if we apply definitions equally and objectively) has a decades-long history of murdering civilians, aid workers and journalists, without fear of repercussions or facing justice for their crimes. Finally, the world is waking up to the unjust situation which has been faced by the Palestinians for decades. Western governments are unfortunately too slow to catch up with, or represent, the opinions and deep concerns of their populations over the horrific actions of Israel's most extremist government ever, against innocents. No doubt Israel's apologists on here will deceitfully deploy the anti-semitism label, but let us be clear. Anti-zionism is an entirely legitimate point of view (even held by some Jews) which should never be conflated with anti-semitism as some crude, shouty propagandist rebuttal." I think you might need to look further back into the history of the region before presenting what you say as facts.

I understand your point but do you think the people of Gaza should stand against the terrorist self imposed government and look to better their lives? I say self imposed because hamas hasn't let the people vote since 2006 and that is a problem, do the Palestinian people support hamas and the war it has brought upon them or not? We don't know for sure! The population has a high percentage of children, around 50%, which means that half the population have never voted for hamas. All of this means nothing when the people are being bombed to death, but when it stops as it must what happens next?

"The court has basically given South Africa everything they asked for and ordered Israel to take measures to prevent a genocide… but just stopped short of ordering Israel to enact a ceasefire Just read the news and I wonder why a ceasefire wasn't requested." It seems to be consistent with the order they gave previously regarding the (possible) genocide of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. Not sure of the reasoning in both instances, though I will note that ICJ rules on disputes between states, not between a state and a non-state actor. The Rohingya are a non-state actor, any and all Palestinians are non-state actors. That may be related.

Iran asked Russia to ask South Africa to bring this case to force Israel into a ceasefire. That's the geopolitical background here." Gonna need a source for that, sounds made up.

"Just as with Iraq, our government is failing to represent the opinion of the majority of citizens on this issue. Israel is a racist, expansionist state, founded on terrorism and ethnic cleansing, which has always been given carte blanche to do as it pleases, irrespective of international law and standards of decency. Its recklessly homicidal IDF (motto: shoot first, ask questions later) regularly murders journalists and aid workers, quite apart from its horrific actions against Palestinian civilians. Hamas is the creation of Israeli policy and its recent incursion, while in no way excusable in its ferocity, is understandable in terms of tactics. Now that Israelis are sharing with Palestinians what it means to live in a state of existential fear, perhaps the requirement for the elusive two-state solution might finally become clear, as a real priority and necessity, rather than a theoretical talking point, to Israel and its western backers." When you say our government is failing to represent the majority of citizens, what % majority are we talking about?

" Compare, contrast and extrapolate!" Purely from a statistical analysis perspective: If 85% of protestors/speakers are Muslim and 6.5% of the UK are Muslim, then it's a visible and vocal minority with an ability to organise, and extrapolations are meaningless. That is not to say that your assertion is necessarily incorrect, but extrapolation fails.

(3) About as many Jews were forced out of Arab/Middle Eastern countries between 1948-54 as Palestinians we're from Israel. Should they go back to Yemen, Iraq, etc. as well? Or to Europe? 1) Israel being a democracy is the joke of the century. When the majority don't even have the right to citizenship or political representation. 2) Arab countries are not Democratic because the so called democratic west has installed puppet dictators and tyrant kings to serve the western indirect colonial interest/plunder of their wealth. 3) Is right to send 2nd, 3rd 4rth generation immigrants. A) they're not immigrants who cane in legally by a Palestinian visa. They're invaders, colonial settlers. Even then, the Palestinians are generous enough to let them stay as equal citizens. Unlike the Israelis who want to genocide or at least ethnically cleanse the native majority. Majority of them are refugees abroad. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation refugees. Plus the millions who are internally displaced and made refugees in their own land. Would you accept the Pakistani immigrants to take power of the UK and ethnically cleanse the white British? Or do you have double standards? 4) 4) " 4) "As many Jews were kicked out of Arab countries" Those Jews lived and thrived in Arab countries for centuries. Nobody kicked them out. The zionist movement with Arab nationalism created by the colonial policy of the west created the rift and they moved to the newly created Israel by fear. If peace is established, the Islamic culture and laws of the Arabs gives them the right to return. Us this linked to the Abraham accords? Abraham records aims to normalise political and economic relations between Arab countries and the Zionist Entity at the expense of the Palestinian cause. So no. Accords*" Ah right. Thanks for the info

Now that Israelis are sharing with Palestinians what it means to live in a state of existential fear, perhaps the requirement for the elusive two-state solution might finally become clear, as a real priority and necessity, rather than a theoretical talking point, to Israel and its western backers. Eloquent and excellent post! I only wish politicians could read this.. " Totally rubbish. Israel has open and free elections of which Arabs are elected and represented. Isreal is surrounded by racist and hostile States that would quite happily invade Isreal if they could (they have tried several times )

Within Israel, democracy is relatively free and fair. Your point is only true if you consider the whole historic Israel (or mandatory Palestine) as a single state. In which case you'd need to consider Jordan as well, arguably. On the other hand, Palestinians in Lebanon, Jordan, etc. are actually considered second class citizens, without access to land ownership and medical attention in the same way as citizens, despite being third and fourth generation. That is much closer to apartheid than the Arab population of Israel. A solid majority of Arabs in Israel are perfectly happy living in a democracy and would hate to be under the rule of either the PA or Hamas. Or living as second class citizens in Jordan or Lebanon (or being kicked out of Kuwait).

You spit out so many lies I don't know where to begin but let me try. 1) Not if you consider Israel a alseperate state. You mean the only state in the world that doesn't define it's border? Open to unlimited expansion as they occupy more and more. Israel occupies The west bank and gaza. None of the Arab populations there have the right to vote. Also there are over 14 million Palestinians expelled from what you call Israel. They also don't have the right to vote. You're the lovely non racist who is supporting a lovely Apartheid Israel that's only committing genocide to defend itself. The only racist here is you. Making racist comments and false equivocations.. What have I said that's racist? Or do you make empty accusations? You basically called a certain racial group uncle Tom's "sell outs" because they don't vote with their race or ethnic group. Haha Which race I called "Uncle Tom's Sell out"? Lol You specifically said "sold out blacks" that is a slur Quote me where? There are traitors in every community. There is nothing racist about mentioning traitors. Here's the quote from you "This like saying: Apartheid South Africa has open and free elections in which 100% of white invaders can vote and 15% of the Blacks can vote and are represented by sold out Blacks. While the other 85% Blacks have no human rights. And they are surrounded by racist Black countries. Racist because they don't like Apartheid." Saying someone is a traitor to there race because they have different opinions or make different choices is racist and bigoted.. Lol, Congrats, you have just invented a new definition of racism. Stop watching Disney Cartoons I haven't invented anything. Slurs like "uncle tom" date back the 19th century. I don't watch Disney films because they are too woke." "Uncle tom" is a nickname for people who betray their community in obedience to the master enslaving them. In other words. Traitors. Although I haven't used that terminology. You did. It's not racist.

"Forcing a million or more people to relocate to the border and bombing their homes certainly sounds like ethnic cleansing to us. Still, I guess grabbing the land is worth it even if it means making yet another generation of Hamas." The real winners, the US arms industry, don't give a fuck, actually it works on their favour to have more angry young men with nothing left to lose in Palestine.

" fuck knows but when you look at how they have flattend gaza i wouldnt be at all surprised if most of the hostages are buried under the rubble, but lets be honest the hostages aint at the top of nutty yahoos list" This is true. His priority is demonstrating what Israel is willing and capable of as a deterrent. And bugger the cost, on either side. The thinking is that, in the region, an unwillingness to engage for operational or ethical reasons is seen as weakness and allows further invasions. This is why statements like "you're just creating more terrorists" falls on deaf ears. The perception is that the cost of doing nothing (or little) emboldens them more. It is also a message to Lebanon (and others) who are much more capable than Hamas. 95% of reasonable discussion in the West simply doesn't get the mindset on any side of most Middle Eastern conflicts, the nuances, the grievances, etc. That's not a comment on those discussing, so much as acknowledgement of the complexity. Why is Yemen in civil war? Why does Kurdistan not exist? Who actually controls Lebanon, and why? And it's the people at the bottom, on all sides, who suffer.

" What a retarded bigoted reply" https://www.theguardian.com/books/2002/jan/12/books.guardianreview5 In August, 2001, the American television channel CBS aired an interview with a Hamas activist Muhammad Abu Wardeh, who recruited terrorists for suicide bombings in Israel. Abu Wardeh was quoted as saying: "I described to him how God would compensate the martyr for sacrificing his life for his land. If you become a martyr, God will give you 70 virgins, 70 wives and everlasting happiness." If this is the case, how is it a bigoted response?

" And your source is Rupert Murdoch and American Propaganda. The Most Muslim loving Propaganda. Are you suggesting that Muhammad Abu Wardeh did not say that?" Do you know him in person? Do you have proof that he is a Hamas member? Or that he represents Islamic faith? This is like saying: Hizbu-Allah television has interviewed a Lieutenant James Brown, a member of the the US genocidal Army and he speaks on how he recruited American terrorists: "I told them by invading Muslim lands you get to grape 72 Muslim Virgins" Wouldn't you question the motives of such propaganda?

" Both the Tories and Labour party (that has purged 1000's of its members for their support of Palestinian human rights) are zionist parties who pledge support for Israel even in Its genocide. What more proof do you need they are zionists? They pass laws to classify Palestinian armed resistance as "Terrorism" and therefore any support for resistance by any british citizen, even through speech they made it a criminal offence. What more proof do you need that the law makers are zionists?

" Nobody knows this: Mohammed Abu Wardeh. The Original interview is not available. So nobody can investigate the claim of what he said, or what he claims to be. All you are left with is a report from unreliable Guardian page. Are you disputing the core facts to the point that the allegation was bigotry? 100%. If you want to know about Christianity you don't go to Hizbu-Allah and if you want to know about this 72 virgins claims you certainly don't go to Rupert Murdoch. Just as when want to know about the alleged 40 babies burned in the Oven by Hamas militants, you don't ask Biden or Netanyahu Then disprove it with logic, don't just say, "argh, that doesn't fit with my narrative! It's a lie!". Proof is the burden of the claimant. And if the Claimant is a proven perpetual liar, well known that they have deep rooted hatred for a certain group. Common sense is you don't take their claims as proof. So if your base level is asking for proof, can you do so in respect of the previous thread regarding the 3 people convicted of support for images of terrorism, where you state "People charged with terrorism for protesting agaist genocide with bollocks laws made by Zionists actively aiding genocide, would say anything to save their lives from being ruined by a corrupt system." (sic)...and I apologise for repeating what appears to be a something you may have drawn out of hatred. Can you please prove that the laws were in fact, "made by zionists"? After all, you were the claimant. The UK is the creator of the illegal zionist Colonial Apartheid state. And it has been in full support of this injustice since then. Including full support of the ongoing genocide. You're asking me to prove the sun exists when it's out there for everyone to see. We have ministers and people in the Parliament who want to pass laws to ban Palestinian flags, boycot, ect. People who support the human rights of Palestinians are accused of antisemitism all the time. What happened in 2019 elections is still in living memory. What else is there to prove? That isn't proof, it's opinion. It's an opinion the sun exists? You still haven't proven that UK laws in relation to the prosecutions were "made by zionists" have you? These laws have been used to stop support for anyone supporting or encouraging any terrorist activity, whether political or religious based. It just so happens that when 3 people decided to celebrate a terrorist act by a terrorist organisation, they were prosecuted. I know a people have been suspended from Labour but is the number truly 1000's who have been purged? ... and have 1000's been purged from the Tories? Can you define what you mean by 'purged'? Again, in line with your comments as a claimant, can you provide proof of your numbers as well?

Genocide and ethnic cleansing is not terrorism when it's committed by Israel. In the eyes of these zionist law makers. It's only terrorism when the Palestinians dare to fight back. Cut the crap "

There is no 'counter'support in the same vein for any act of aggression against any civilian.

People supporting genocides such as our government providing bombs for genocide and the Labour Dictator who supports cutting food water electricity to 2.3 million people until they're all dead. Those are the people who should be charged for terrorism. Not the ones protesting against terrorism.

He states that any claims need to be proven by the claimant. However, he refuses to apply the same standards to his own claims. He claims that 1000's have been purged from Labour and the Tories for a pro Palestinian stance. Laughably incorrect. He claims that the laws of this country were passed by zionists. Laughably incorrect. Funny if it wasn't so pitiful.

" I do not know about the facts being quoted neither do I need to know. " Clearly. " This is the first genocide to be broadcasted, every night one can turn on the T.V and watch many people being murdered. " This is untrue on two counts. It is not the first genocide to be broadcast. Saying this demonstrates how some people recognise evil only when it applies to one group. There has been a greater body count and actual intention to eradicate a people many times in living memory, but those are quickly forgotten and not acknowledged in statements such as these. Open your eyes to the other horrors in the world generally and the Middle East specifically. It is not genocide. You can call it unjust, illegal, evil, wrong, bloodthirsty - these are debatable points. But it isn't genocide. Or if it is, that is not currently being demonstrated by any test of what genocide actually is. Saying something many times doesn't make it true, unless you mean to change the definition of genocide.

The answer to that is certainly not, and further "bets" will not be dignified with a response.

It's written by you in this thread for all to see. Your exact words were "Proof is the burden of the claimant". It seems to be the only piece of common sense that you have said in here and where it doesn't suit, you want to discard it.

"For the 2.3 million inhabitants of the Gaza Strip, 29,000 people have been killed, over 60,000 injured, and 7,000 are missing under rubble, totaling over 90,000. 10,000 dead children and 17,000 Ophans. 85% of the population displaced from their homes and one in four are starving, according to the UN. Silence from western allies including UK who are assiting the killing with weapons supplies and intelligence, as how to end the killing. In their eyes, perhaps it was partly because they will look at the victims as martyrs (albeit for the vast majority, innocent and involuntary ones) and a price worth paying if they stand a chance of achieving any potential gain. Or perhaps it was partly because they were led on that path by a larger regional player. Or perhaps it was partly down to simple mutual hatred between the two opposing protagonists.

So your logic is in a case of a big man with big muscles grapes a physically much weaker woman for decades, the moment she lashes out and dare to scratch him with her nails, she deserves whatever his gonna do next. Would it be right to conclude that you believe that all human lives are equal.....only you are content for Israeli civilians to be classed as subhuman when it comes to the 7th October? Would you celebrate those specific actions if you were allowed to do so? Or, like the rest of decent society, are you a proponent of the basic human right to life in that everyone have an equal right regardless?

" Your underlying premise is the Palestinians, should accept their ethnic cleansing and perish in silence without the right to resist or fight back. " No. There are other possibilities between brutal terrorism and accepting "their ethnic cleansing and perish[ing] in silence". Ones that don't lead to a massive military retaliation. Perhaps your inability to see any but two extreme options should be a lesson to us here in the West as to the mentality that causes such trauma. If you, comfortable in Bathgate, are this radicalised, then one can only imagine the mentality of those in less fortunate places. Your presence here on this forum is an eye opener, truly.
