"China installed more solar panels than the rest of the world put together last year and beat that total by around September of this year. According to many reports China's carbon peak is almost certainly next year. After that their carbon emission will be fallin year on year. Now it is not going to fall quick enough to meet the 2030 targets with current policy but the old ' we can only do something when China does ' excuse has gone. There has already been some progress on richer countries giving money to poorer countries to help them adapt which is a huge step and shouldn't be under estimated. There is still a lot of work to do however to meet the work we will need to do. " Indeed. You know, what with Rwanda reminding us of our obligations to the courts re immigrant deportation, and China no doubt shining a spotlight on our carbon emissions in a few years time, we are going to really realise just how far we have fallen on the world stage.
