Following on from Rishi saying he was going to bounce back from the supreme court decision to rule the Rwanda scheme illegal by singing a new deal....

Rwanda have told him do get stuffed and they won't have UK involved in their justice system thank you very much.

Call and election now as its the only chance they have of getting anywhere near a hundred seats!

Mugged off by Rwanda.

Rwanda were never going to say "no" , they may have been a bit annoyed that The UK government were incapable of arranging a deal that would be acceptable in The UK Courts . But all Rwanda have to do is sit back and collect the cash .

They asked for more money and they got it.

There is an independent legal framework now after they told us to get lost.

They saw us and played the government again.

So far, ministers have handed over £140m to the Rwandan government but have declined to disclose how much has been paid out in extra costs in Rwanda and the UK, particularly in a series of lengthy court cases.

Asked if there would be additional money for the new treaty, Cleverly said: “The financial arrangement which inevitably comes as part of an international agreement reflects the costs that may be imposed on Rwanda through the changes that this partnership has created in their systems: in their legal systems and their institutions.

So there is more money...they just don't want to say how much.

Also

The Sunday Times reported that the UK government would hand over another £15m on top of the £140m – a claim that was dismissed as “speculation” by the health secretary, Victoria Atkins.

Doesn't say it isn't true, therefore it is. Info leaked to the Times.

Also this:

But the new agreement creates a number of requirements and obligations to convince British judges that Rwanda will not mistreat asylum seekers, some of which will carry a cost.

These include free legal assistance for asylum seekers sent to Rwanda as well as an obligation to support people for the first five years after they receive a decision on their status.

That support is education, housing and finding them a job.

Fresh from getting another 15 million off the government after their big announcement today.....Rwanda has now threatened to pull out of the deal if it does not conform to international law.

So the big deal they signed which they were grandstanding only hours ago has just blown up.

More money coming their way and no asylum seekers.

I swear to god they got the Nigeria scammers to help set up the deals.

They know the UK government can't back out as they are too invested so Rwanda just going to keep the fish on the line.

Mugged off by Rwanda....again..

I've not looked past the sub headline

"Chris Philp says a 'small number' of asylum seekers who are sent from the UK to Rwanda under the government's plan to tackle immigration and are then jailed for committing offences could be returned to the UK after serving their sentence."

Believe this is on top of the referral bit.

To be fair, it's been a little while since Rwanda's last genocide so they're probably in a perfectly fair position to lecture the Tories about human rights.

They won't say at the moment as they try to avoid scrutiny about decisions made about your money.

Is an independent western media source not good enough for you now or is it that you just ignore news that doesn't fit your opinion?

“ It has emerged that the cost of the scheme had more than doubled to £290m. The Home Office admitted that, on top of the initial £140m payment, it had handed over a further £100m, and extra £50m is to follow.”

Add £8,000,0000 a day for hotels, living allowances, medical, home office staff costs processing claims, lawyers, appeals etc

And the whopping unreported cost of the Rwanda bill itself, legal costs, Supreme Court barristers etc

Daily Telegraph reporting that another £100 million was agreed in April and there will be another £50 million next year.

Then there was Rishi’s speech yesterday which basically asserted that his bill was going to supersede fact and thereby completely remove the separation of powers between parliament and the judiciary.

If you want it, I'll send it to you (or at least your national percentage of it). Let's see, that's £200,000,000, and you're one of 68m people, so that comes to £2.91. Not enough for a pint, so it will indeed be a small beer.

Let’s put some perspective around this…

It is costing £8 million a day to house asylum seekers who enter the country illegally.

To focus this a little more, that £2.9 billion a year.

Finally 200 million is just 6.9% of 2.9 billion, which I would consider, small beer after all things considered.

torynomics. £250m for naff benefit is fine, as long as you can position it agaisnt a large number !

(I doubt this is your point, but it's plausible where we will end up, and people will be fine).

Random fact tho. It's about 2.5pc of Rwanda gdp. That's nuts imo.
