Minister without portfolio.

If you go to the .gov website and click responsibilities, there are none. I don't know whether to or .

There is speculation that it's about common sense (obviously a big task ahead of her then as it's lacking in government ministers) and anti-wokery, whatever that means. Feel free to enlighten me

She is my MP.

A minister without portfolio is a politician who is given the rank of minister without being given responsibility for any particular area of a government's activities. Usually has a strong relationship with the chief whip in enforcing party discipline. Rishi senses a stalking horse and Ester could be there to stop it in its tracks.

"Keep your friends close, keep your potential enemies even closer..?"

Exactly! Ester is viewed by the right as a potential leader of the party. Makes sense to have her close.

To be honest looking at the current crop of leading politicians, from whatever colour, they are all mediocre.

Grant Shapps as the defence secretary looked lost and bewildered at last weeks remembrance services.

This may be true. I just can't stand Esther, never have been able to, for what feels like at least 20 years or whenever she started appearing on our TV screens.

Her voting record is pretty fucking abysmal. That's reason enough to dislike her as an MP.

Her voice and her air of superiority always just grated on me.
