Vaping

The new laws seem quite an overstretch to me.

I have tried finding long terms tidies on damage to lungs etc of approved vaping products but still can't see any.

Every time I read a bbc article about vaping ( as per the usa epidemic and the Irish one currently in tbe news)

Something illegal is always happening.

A 9 year old shouldn't be vaping. I question whether she was buying legitimate oils for the vape. I also questionnaire not using her inhaler. Her story on the radio had a lot of plotholes.

The stories from America are also the same. Every time its always illegal under tbe counter cbd vapes that destroy the lungs.

I'm all for destroying the blackmarket of vaping liquids.

But you don't have a right ( for me) to cripple the free market on vapes when as far as I can tell there is F all evidence of the damage of vaping long term on lungs of approved suppliers.

Not sure what this story relates to... However I am a fan of consistent legislation on legal/illegal substances based on personal and secondary harm. I start with the principals and then extend to the specific cases.

Probably relating to this article;

The mother is an absolute idiot. No way did she try hard enough to discipline her child.

I personally find the smell of vapes as obnoxious as cigarette smoke and would happily see them banned just on the grounds of being anti social but I accept that others will see it as their right to pollute the air.

I do find it strange that people seem to be able to convince themselves that inhaling weird combinations of gases into their lungs on a regular basis is causing them no harm at all when pretty much every other combination of man made gases (cigarettes, air pollution etc) are proven to be detrimental.

I will lose relatively little sleep over those individuals when their “safe” habit turns out to have caused them serious problems in 30 or 40 years time.

outside your bedroom window ;-)

Apparently the nicotine is almost pure going into your system therfore far better at getting you addicted than cigarettes, also whilst there is no conclusive proof that they actually harm, there are signs that harm is being done. Much like smoking in the 40s and 50s where they waited till the horse has bolted before closing the stable door.

Like the above I do find them anti-social and apparently not only are single use causing massive pollution they are also causing a lot of fires and potential deaths.

We all certainly though have every right to put the health of our children before some wired ideology of the thing they call the free market.

All disposable vapes should be banned.

Others should be on prescription only, and the only flavours available should be tobacco.

Vapes should only be used as an alternative to smoking as they may be less harmful.

Long term effects of vaping are not known and I believe that evidence will be found in 10 or 20 years that they aren't much better than smoking.

Not only do disposable vapes harm the user they also harm the wider environment as they are rarely recycled.

I would like to see the science of this.

I think government decisions on these things need to be science based.

There's a lot of emotive wording on this topic to simply ban. But I have never come across science journals and evaluations as being worse than cigs etc. Happy to read anything people have come across.

The thing is. Vapea have been around for 20 years. So thenlogn term evidence should be presenting itself now. But I am just not able to find any study.

Longer than that. The main ingredient of vape juice is glycerine, and people have been inhaling that since the 70s when smoke machines started turning up at discos. Any one that has ever been to a night club will have spent all night inhaling the stuff.

Commercial vape juice is just water, glycerine, flavouring, and a tiny amount of nicotine (since nicotine is incredibly poisonous).

What's causing problems is people trying to use a vape to inhale cannabis oils. Inhaling oil can be extremely bad for you, and can cause massive lung damage.
