P.E.I. MLA removed from committees after suggesting female paramedics can't lift as much weight

"I just notice a lot more females in the profession now and we get a lot of calls for lift assist because — don't get me wrong, they're great, some of the women that are doing it are unbelievable — but I went to a lift assist the other day because both the females that were working the bus were 105 pounds and the man was 300 pounds and there was no way they were going to get him up."

Thoughts?

It's simply a reality the majority of men will be stronger. Even then 300 lbs is heavy and a man may struggle

I dont see the problem is acknowledging that both sees clearly have biological differences.

So was thef suggestion more male recruits as stronger ?

Had he fallen when you lifted him your could have been sued

It’s becoming more of a problem as there are more obese people, not just men.

As a carer, I would never lift anyone without a hoist. Poor paramedics don’t have hoists on board. They probably should though!

Industrial size.

20+ stone is plenty of weight even for a fit guy (crew) to lift.. Old skool just used to do it because they didn't have the equipment for it and was seen as part of the job. Now we have things/equipment and training like T. I. L. E.. Just because some female and males might not be strong enough don't risk your back and ruin your career cause ole fatty doesn't even think about his own health...

They do... But that's oy for static lift, not for carrying down stairs or outof houses/flats
