Victoria Derby is pummelling him verbally on Sunday with LK. She's discussing HS2, and considering he was transport secretary, he hasn't a leg to stand on.

Very humorous.

Ed Davy is a poor political leader, although idea of community rather than developer led housing seems to have merit

The entire problem with HS2 is how it was rolled out with such nonsensical fanfare and focus on speed. The reality is that the WCML is well over-capacity and the only effective way of fixing it is to lay new track, and use new trains. And if you are going to build a new track and trains, why not get the best and most modern available?

Talk of “improving the existing WCML by extending platforms and shortening sequencing is the same argument as was made for building “smart motorways” instead of building more capacity through new roads.

The WCML capacity issue needs fixing by long-term investment. Tampering with it will (like smart motorways) just not work in the long run.

Govt spokesman yesterday referred to the Manchester branch as “the bit above Birmingham”. So much for the Northern Powerhouse

However, that assumes that people want to go to London.

I can't see any reason to go there at all. Horrible dirty polluted place full of people.
