"Come on trump 2024 .. he will end what's happening in Ukraine in 48 hours .. the attack on Russia from NATO will be stopped " Putin riding a chariot pulled by unicorns more likely me thinks I’m wondering if any on-line bookies will give odds that Trump ends his days in a jail cell, either for war crimes assuming the rank and file Americans vote him back into power (not a ridiculous notion) or he eventually just boxes himself in with his own bullshit! He makes Nixon look civilised

"Boris really has adopted a disgracefully cavalier attitude to his classical studies . . . Boris sometimes seems affronted when criticised for what amounts to a gross failure of responsibility (and surprised at the same time that he was not appointed Captain of the School for next half): I think he honestly believes that it is churlish of us not to regard him as an exception, one who should be free of the network of obligation which binds everyone else." "Blames others for him having to resign as an MP, rather than taking reponsibility for his own actions. In his resignation letter, he states "They have still not produced a shred of evidence that I knowingly or recklessly misled the Commons." However, he has declined the opportunity to appeal the Privileges Committee's findings. The man protest too much, methinks !" Exactly…. He had everything on his favour and he knew it. The investigating committee had a Conservative majority. If by chance the committee voted against him, they could still only make recommendations to Parliament and the Conservatives have an 80 seat majority. If perchance he was let down by the above, his own Constituency was (obviously) a Conservative majority and everyone loves Boris right??? Then just to make absolutely sure, he gets top quality legal advice…. FOR FREE. The guy needs to disappear up his own arsehole for the rest of his life and never be allowed anywhere near politics again.

" Just for the sake of variety, it was Cameron who eventually caved to Tory infighting over Europe, Boris just rode the train in the direction he wanted to get the PM role he’d always coveted. Cameron bailed when the vote went Leave, then May tried several times in vain to get a deal with Boris in her side with the knives and then Boris bullshitted his way over the line. Brexit got almost no scrutiny as the UK was knees deep in Covid and he knew it, smoke and mirrors and the UK is now a very small seat at a very large table. I can bore you all day about EU legislation being transferred as UK laws come Jan 1st 2024 whilst the Tories are infighting over Rees Mogg and his Knighthood or Boris and bullshit; us regular folk are carrying on in the real world! Can’t get a tomato in Asda, it’s Brexit and don’t let anyone else tell you different; poor crops in random location is more Tory bullshit! I agree, BJ will be back, millions the richer and clean as white shirt when Sunak gets trounced at the general; not on my watch with be the Boris opening salvo

As was shown in one of these threads small swings in voter share can create huge swings in seats. What matters is where the swing happens. "Boris will be back at some point. Possibly to rescue and unite the country. He has been ousted for now by people with an Agenda.. I think he very ably trashed and ousted himself, whilst trashing the country. The Covid disaster was his own making and he's trounced off, rather than being accountable, as he's seen the report, before anyone else. He doesn't do truth or accountabilty. As demonstrated by some of the Tories in this thread, none of that matters to people. They vote for the worst possible humans to be our MPs and leaders regardless of how self serving and narcissistic they are. Bizarrely...now that Boris has gone and the chances of a Tory General election win increase.. As they say. A week is a long time in politics Tories would have won the next GE regardless. In my opinion. Really ?. Bold prediction to forecast a Tory win at the next election " Really, it's definitely my opinion. I can't see why they wouldn't win again.

" No, because (and this is something that’s gone largely missed since first reported in 2019) even had Labour backed leave - they’d still have lost those seats because lab-leavers were the minority in every single labour constituency. In simple terms - Labour could have backed leave, lost their remain voters and lost the seats. Or they could have backed remain, lost the leave voters and lost the seats. The defining factor in the 2019 labour performance was Corbyn - this isn’t just my opinion, this is electoral data released after the GE.

At a push "statesmanship" may extend to his backing of Ukraine, but that may well have been as a distraction from his own problems. He lied and broke many of his own rules. He is the result of politics as entertainment and charisma, sound bites and put-downs rather than serious and earnest. People also want to believe that there are easy solutions to difficult problems. They have throughout history. It usually involves blaming some group or other for all of society's ills. There is a scene in Outnumbered where the German exchange student thinks BoJo is a comedian. Truss caused bond yields to spike because the market did not accept her unfunded tax cuts to the wealthy. They did not want UK national debt because it was viewed as too risky. Instant spike in bond yields requiring the BoE to buy back debt and reduce supply to raise the price. Crisis. The bond market is now functioning normally. High inflation is making Gilts, with a fixed surrender value, unattractive. Pension funds are also now less keen to purchase them due to Truss. At the same time, interest rates rise to try to control inflation, making cash deposits more attractive. This is in the control of the BoE. The Treasury has taken the conventional path of reducing public sector wages in the belief that this will reduce demand and therefore inflation. As an aside, as inflation is primarily supply driven due to fuel restrictions they would be better off actually collecting the windfall tax and using it to subsidise company energy prices rather than giving the oil industry huge get out clauses.

Just state that someone is "wrong" repeatedly and hope that it sticks? You can carry on trying to massage your ego claiming "original thinking" as you wish, I'm really not bothered. The BoE did not "offer protection". To what? Gilt prices? When? With Truss or now? By doing what? What are you trying to explain? How is the BoE's activities controlled by the Treasury anyway? You are repeating what someone else is saying, as usual. Much quicker if you say whom so we know what opinion you are regurgitating. It is not that of the markets and their analysts. It's much easier to see what reconstruction of economics is going on to fit what political narrative. Other than accusations you have been and will be unable to refute anything that I have written about the spike in Gilt yields following the Truss fiscal event and why they have been rising now. Feel free to try though. ...and at the end you ask for links after criticising me for doing so. You are a complete hypocrite. Schroeders

Unless anyone can state some useful things they have done or even kept their pledges, policies, not have record number on waiting lists, record number of child poverty, worst performance in G7, not lying about Brexit, not supporting bullies, then …..demonstrably that are useless. No one really needs to. You're entitled to think they're useless, that doesn't actually mean it's true " They are useless though. We can argue through our respective coloured lenses, but even ardent tories I know have little faith in this mob. Not that they’ll switch to labour, but nobody I speak to thinks the current government is close to competent.

"Well it is great entertainment looking in from across the water. Lis Truss was great fun. It is the ordinary people who loose out all the time, with so called politicians getting elected. Maybe the Lib Dem might hold balance of power at next election. Boris, get Brexit done! Ironic about truss given today yields went above her budget yields and sunak and hunt are nowhere near the headlines. Truss was useless, how long did she last? It doesn't matter. Yields breached her ( bad budget) impact. Where are the headlines? Truss was a pathetic and useless PM, how long did she last? She was ousted on her economic policy the disaster budget. The current sunak budget has now led to bond yields being higher...was it the level, or the speed (combined with the vicous cycle she had created). There was no cycle. The bofe intervened. As it should have done earlier. The bofe can intervene now. It's choosing not to. The growth in yield started before the budget was even announced. So we are still at the impasse. Why the headlines for truss budget but not hunts?I meant the cycle with the pension schemes. I agree growth has started. But you can pick out the the Truss spike on a graph. That was rapid and not online with the underlying rate. It's taken six months to create the increase she managed in her six weeks. You can and you can see when tne bank intervened. Which it should have done by raising the rates higher which the market expected. They grew 1.3% I tje month before hand and spiked 1% afterbudget. As I said at the time. This was the bofe disaster. And bow the bofe has put itself I this position again. But hey ho it cant ossibly be Jeremy fault Who's website or tweet is this coming from? It's much easier if you just tell us the source. We went over this last time. You don't understand this stuff. You can't even read about trade dea.impact assessments without getting them wrong. Let alone discuss bond markets. And thisnis from me. I saw a tweet they'd reached the levels of truss budget. It's probably says more about you. That you think copy other people's words. Because you're not an original.thinker yourself. You come on and always have to ask for links. Then your end them wrong. Because you do no original reading up yourself The ban of England inaction caused the bond problem because they didn't offer protection, that's what they are there to do. Because they didn't match the usa rate rise. Again, what they are there to do. I would like to see your evidence of pension funds not buying bonds now in June because of a possibly budget put out in September. This is your best? Schroeders" You realise the bofe purchased those gilts where the institutions couldn't afford the interest tastes right? You know. When people on here were talking about it being a decision that cost 60bn? So youw ere quoting numbers you had no idea of the relevance of This is so unlike you easy. Talking about things you don't comprehend.
