Poll of people on Bojos constituency have him at 50% of the vote.

Might be a case of not being able to oust him. Then if hung parliament next time round.

Rishi dropped and Bojo elected for election again.

Labour ( SKS) probably need to win first time round.

It could happen... Although I suspect if the Tories manage any election success (and the controlling party is probably classed as success) I can't see them going back. He's an election winner but government destroyer.

Tbh the Tories would probably take a hung parliament if offered today.

I'm not sure the tories would particularly mind losing the next GE.

If you take a look at the UK landscape right now it is not one of harmony and clear direction. If I was in their shoes I would plan taking a 4 year break, regroup and plan for the following GE.

It will also help those that are close to fanatical when it comes to tory hatred, understand running the country is not as simple as they think it is.

Have a 4 year 'break' and then rally for the GE 1 year before that date. That's not difficult to comprehend.

It is relevant in terms of fact, which is he lost the confidence of his MP's for a number of issues, lying that he was not told of the allegations surrounding Chris Pincher, cost of living crisis and famously party gate. Those were the reasons on the surface, the real damage was done by Dominic Cummings, who in my opinion took out Johnson.

I agree he will not be able to come back, he tiptoed into the last leader contest and backed out sharpish.

All on Johnson’s watch...

https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm5803/cmselect/cmpubacc/1055/report.html

"Between March 2020 to December 2021, Government awarded 22 contracts to Randox (or its strategic partner Qnostics Ltd) for its testing services, worth a maximum total value of £776.9 million. The Committee’s inquiry into these contracts found numerous issues with the first contract – failures in basic record-keeping; gaps in conflict-of-interest declarations; and wider procurement issues, such as a lack of senior scrutiny and sign-off. The DHSC also marked supplier offers as ‘VIP’ if they had been referred from ministers, MPs, or Number 10. These priority suppliers received £6 billion of the £7.9 billion of testing contracts awarded between May 2020 to March 2021.27 .The PAC has been asked by Parliament to examine the papers relating to government contracts for the supply of PPE by PPE Medpro which secured two contracts worth a combined value of over £200 million and is now the subject of an investigation by the National Crime Agency into potential fraud."

In other news...

The Tories took the Royal College of Nursing to court. But not Michelle Mone!

and...

Matt Hancock gave a PPE contract to his sister’s company which he owned 20% of. Then denied it when confronted and covered up the evidence.

and...

It just goes on!

All on Johnson’s watch...

Victoria Aitken, daughter of the disgraced former Tory Cabinet Minister, Jonathan Aitken, threatened to sue a successful VIP PPE bidder for commission after she had referred it into the VIP lane. The exchange came after the Private Secretary of former health minister, Lord Agnew, wrote to Ms Aitken promising to “get our priority team to pick it up and expedite the offer to assure it, etc.”

In a private LinkedIn exchange with the Managing Director of Euthenia Investments, Victoria Aitken claimed that it was her introduction to Lord Agnew – former Cabinet Office Minister, Trustee of Policy Exchange and Conservative Peer, that secured the PPE contract for

She went on to claim “I had it fast-tracked” and demanded commission on “all the contracts that came via my connections”. She added “My lawyer will write to you and start litigation / If you do not settle.” Lawyers acting for Ms Aitken subsequently wrote to Euthenia.

Agnew is also named as the “Actual Referrer” for PPE Medpro. Michelle Mone was “incandescent with rage” and complaining to Michael Gove and Matt Hancock after being “fobbed off”. Lord Agnew is also named as the “Source of Referral” and “Actual Referrer” for Worldlink Resources who engaged disgraced former MP, Brooks Newmark, to lobby Matt Hancock, Michael Gove and Liz Truss on their behalf.

A single corrupt act does not make an individual or the government they run wholly or systemically corrupt. The problem with Boris Johnson is that these things keep happening. In Carriegate, the Johnson government and its cheerleaders look to be once more complicit in a tawdry ethical incident that lowers standards in public life and which until quite recently would have merited investigation and resignation.

One of the features of the Johnson government has been to intimidate, discredit, remove or ignore the informal checks and balances within the system that are meant to deter corruption: the independent media, the Judiciary, the Ethics Advisor, the Anti-Corruption Champion, Parliament, the Committee on Standards in Public Life, to name but a few. As the checks and balances are downgraded, the risk of corruption rises.

Nah the simple fact that there was this OP shows how some people are hard of thinking in this country. There are actually low and middle income people in this country who even now still seem to think Johnson is just loveable harmless baffoon that has their best interests at heart and you could have a pint with down the pub.

Bit of irony in this

You were asked for proof of corruption. And you've proovided ongoing articles about people getting contracts awarded in tne vip Lane which was awarded by civil servants.

Where was the corruption sorry. Has a judge decided a tory mp has acted inappropriately in these contracts?

"After everything that happened and has come to light about Johnson, if anyone still votes for him, they are thick as mince!

There are people who would still support and would vote for Liz Truss. So nothing is out of the question.

The lying doesn't seem to be a issue for some, has long has it leads to their party winning.

Amazing isn’t it. There’s this clown on Twitter called Gully Foyle who is a vocal supporter of Truss! Saying that he only has c.7k followers so not much influence or credibility!

Again.

I asked you what has he got wrong so far?

I've asked this 3 times now.

What particular tweets are wrong?

Probably easier to list what he got right or we’d be here all year!

Please name something he's got wrong.

4th time asking now?

He’s an idiot. What’s worse than his faux economic commentary (no original thinking, all just borrowed from elsewhere) more concerning is some of the tweets on other threads and a clear bias with some worrying traits. Is he a hero of yours then? You seem quite defensive?"

5th time.

Without just falling him a name.

What does he get wrongm

"Having read this thread with interest,I can’t believe Morleymam is still defending Nohnson and his lying corrupt cronies,do you not read newspapers or watch any television at all ?"

He's not alone.

It's a testimony to the power of the Tory PR machine and their supporting media.

You can ask 100 times but I am not playing your game Morley. You derail threads by bogging down into semantic or tangential arguments focused around minutiae.

IMO Gully is an idiot. He is rude and abusive towards people. Has a clear bias and some quite concerning traits. A Tufton St acolyte. A nasty piece of work whose true colours aren’t being filtered due to Twitter being more relaxed on rules. Maybe you can’t see it? Same as you cannot see the blatant self serving corruption that is Johnson. Maybe you simply do not want to see it as it is all confirmation bias?

I don’t need to. Anyone interested enough can do their own research. Even spending just 10 mins on Twitter looking at Gully will reveal all you need to know. He doesn’t have any original thinking and just parrots what right wing think tanks push out. He lacks real credibility and his (assume Gully is a he, could be a she or a they) bias is quickly apparent. I hope you aren’t just parroting Gully as that then questions your credibility! You can do better!

As for Johnson...really! The pile of shit around that excuse of a man is growing ever larger. Even MI5 & MI6 believe Johnson is a security risk and compromised. Will he ever get done for corruption? Unlikely because he no doubt has shit dossiers on everyone else. For example, Sunak has now bottled it and agreed to Johnson’s honours list!

Of course I have read the pinned tweets. Very thought provoking (if biased rather than balanced) but that is not original thinking by him. He is parroting right wing think tanks. Doesn’t matter whether it is objectively (or subjectively) right or wrong, it still isn’t original thinking as he is standing on the shoulders of others.

You seem quite defensive?

5th time.

Without just falling him a name.

What does he get wrongm

You can ask 100 times but I am not playing your game Morley. You derail threads by bogging down into semantic or tangential arguments focused around minutiae.

IMO Gully is an idiot. He is rude and abusive towards people. Has a clear bias and some quite concerning traits. A Tufton St acolyte. A nasty piece of work whose true colours aren’t being filtered due to Twitter being more relaxed on rules. Maybe you can’t see it? Same as you cannot see the blatant self serving corruption that is Johnson. Maybe you simply do not want to see it as it is all confirmation bias?

So then you ststements up you can't back up.

Glad we got that cleared

Gully is a he. I knew him from his original profile.

No original thinking.

I take it you haven't read his pinned tweets then. They are all hisnorogonal thoughts.

Seems you don't know the man at all.

When you say you know him. As in real life “know” him or as in followed his twitter account for a few years know him?

As in real life.

I have met about 100 people I interact with regularly on there.

Actually everything on his lists are his original thoughts.

Where do you think then for example he got his breakdown of tbe nffo fishing report. Where did he copy that from

Or his list kof brexit benefits.

Or his animal welfare fta thread.

I'm curious to see if you can post Where he copied the info from?

Even her name is taken from Alfred Bester book, ironical a book about fantasy and fiction "

Why do you keep referring to 'her' when you've been told he's a 'he'?

It seems that it's proof that Fab thinks that it's acceptable to misgender and misname someone if you find that person objectionable.

I do hope that attitude won't come back to bite him at some later date.

Gully is a he. I knew him from his original profile.

No original thinking.

I take it you haven't read his pinned tweets then. They are all hisnorogonal thoughts.

Seems you don't know the man at all.

You have met about 100 people you interact with on Twitter! I don’t believe you. Prove it?

And when you say meet? You know each of them by name or was it some kind of Tufton St drinks party/conference type thing? Nah sorry Morley that claim gets filed with your over 10,000 followers claim. Pure and utter fantasy.

You can tell yourself what you want. It's no skin off my nose.

Some I meet when working in London for drinks.

Others are from Leeds and surrounding areas.

Not really too dissimilar to a swinging site. You dm one another on subjects etc then just say I am in "Birmingham on 4th" for example. If you fancy a few beers etc.

Not really difficult. I've had twitter for coming up to 12 years on my perosnal one and my political commentary.

But I guess for those less inclined they feel something like this would be too far for them...no different to the types on here that organise meets and then cancel last minute when it becomes real.

About 100 though? Really? Nah don’t believe you. Does that equate to having significant followers?

I dont really care if you believe me or not.

I'm sat here enjoying you catching yourself between a rock and a hard place."

That’s an odd take. A little delusional? I just see someone with a very inflated opinion of them-self who is last few days has claimed to have over 10k followers on Twitter and met around 100 of them.

It seems that people like Dilip Shah and Gully should be listening to you lol!!!

"Poll of people on Bojos constituency have him at 50% of the vote.

Might be a case of not being able to oust him. Then if hung parliament next time round.

Rishi dropped and Bojo elected for election again.

Labour ( SKS) probably need to win first time round."

Boris' constituents must be delighted that after living in another borough since leaving office, he's now dumped them completely.

How's your prediction looking of Boris Johnson returning in glory looking?

Boris would have gotten a 90 day suspension… and remember that it’s a majority tory mp committee!

Wow… that’s a lot lot worse than I think anyone would have imagined

Boris is going full scorched earth in his reply….

Remember the 90 days would have been 90 sitting days… remember they only really sit 3 1/2 to 4 days each week

And revoking all passes and privileges and ex mp would get to step into the houses of Westminster…

The other thing is that you are going to see another push to get his resignation honours list revoked…

The ego he has will always drive his reactions and being publicly shamed by people he feels are of no importance is going to sting..... Everything he does for the rest of the year will be extra salty.

To some extent Johnson has been hoisted by his own petard.

There were a whole load of stupid rules the government created that we were all expected to have intimate knowledge of on a daily basis, as part of a total overreaction to what was a minor ailment for the vast majority of the population.

There is a certain degree of schadenfreude seeing these people suffering for their own stupidity.

However, the breach that Johnson is accused of seems mind bogglingly trivial. That so much time and effort can be spent on something like this at taxpayer's expense just shows how insular and generally pointless our "representatives" have become.

And the fact that a democratically elected MP can be effectively removed from Parliament by people who don't like him is quite chilling.

But expect more of it. The Establishment has responded to Brexit through bitter recriminations, a crackdown on dissent and increased authoritarianism. It's just going to get worse.

he wasn't removed because of the breach.

But misleading HoC. As well as misleading the committee.

And also refering the findings before published.

And impugning the committee.

If you say his offense was only minor then that's suggest you believe he committed an event. Which would suggest you also would agree that he did not tell the truth when he said he committed an offense. If that is the case you agree with the findings for stop so the next question is how happy are you with a prime minister misleading parliament?

Even if Johnson misled Parliament over this issue, it is so utterly trivial that I really don't care.

There are much bigger things for our elected representatives to be concerned about than this trivial navel gazing.

But of course that isn't what it is. It's just the means by which Johnson's enemies can remove him. If this didn't work they'd be on to something else tomorrow.

Johnson has never been popular with MP's. Probably because they are envious of his connection to a large part of the public. There is simply nobody else in Parliament who can connect with a large part of the electorate in the way that Johnson can.

That makes a lot of people envious. We shouldn't assume what goes on in Parliament is all about high ideas. Much of it is about petty rivalry and ambition.

Do you think all previous Prime Ministers have not misled Parliament?

Even if Johnson misled Parliament over this issue, it is so utterly trivial that I really don't care.

There are much bigger things for our elected representatives to be concerned about than this trivial navel gazing.

But of course that isn't what it is. It's just the means by which Johnson's enemies can remove him. If this didn't work they'd be on to something else tomorrow.

I can't think of the extent he. Not can I thi know any who have broke rules they put in place.

Imo of you keep knowing lie, then it's right to be investigated. Integrity isn't trivial.

If he hadn't have resigned, what are the next steps? Debate in the house and a vote I think.

He has an 80 majority. How many enemies does he have in the conservative party... And why ?

Johnson has never been popular with MP's. Probably because they are envious of his connection to a large part of the public. There is simply nobody else in Parliament who can connect with a large part of the electorate in the way that Johnson can.

That makes a lot of people envious. We shouldn't assume what goes on in Parliament is all about high ideas. Much of it is about petty rivalry and ambition.

so many are signing their P45 by not backing him then? "

Who knows? I'm no more able than anyone else to be able to predict what will happen at the next election. Labour is polling very well but I sense no great enthusiasm for Starmer. He seems to have very few policies and whenever he does come out with some they seem to fall apart under scrutiny.

"To some extent Johnson has been hoisted by his own petard.

It's just going to get worse.he wasn't removed because of the breach.

But misleading HoC. As well as misleading the committee.

Nah he is a liar who misled parliament and committees...

“There is no precedent for a prime minister having been found to have deliberately misled the House.

“He misled the House on an issue of the greatest importance to the House and to the public, and did so repeatedly.

“He declined our invitation to reconsider his assertions that what he said to the House was truthful.

“His defence to the allegation that he misled was an ex post facto justification and no more than an artifice. He misled the committee in the presentation of his evidence.”

Johnson denies lying. He says this is a kangaroo court made up of people who don't like him. I can see why he would think that. Would you be able to be impartial if you were on the committee? I doubt it.

That makes a lot of people envious. We shouldn't assume what goes on in Parliament is all about high ideas. Much of it is about petty rivalry and ambition.

And lying. Don’t forget how easy it is to get people on your side and “connect” with them when you can lie to them as easily you breathe.

In a leader, I would personally prefer, honesty, integrity and sincerity over over insincere waffle (lies).

But each to their own. I get it that some people just like to be lied to.

More BDS. I think it's perfectly possible that people with a different upbringing to me, a different life experience, different aspirations and personality, can simply form a different opinion than me on the same information.

I don't assume that they must have some kind of character flaw or that they must be thick.

So lying in public office is ok then?

What a remarkably low bar you aspire to.

Johnson denies lying. He says this is a kangaroo court made up of people who don't like him. I can see why he would think that. Would you be able to be impartial if you were on the committee? I doubt it."

Tiresome Trumpisms!

It wasn't a Kangaroo Court. It was a long standing committee, with members elected by MPs, a majority of Brexiteer Tory members, and overseen by a retired high court judge. And he was represented by one of the countries top KCs at a cost (to taxpayers) of £225,000

"To some extent Johnson has been hoisted by his own petard.

It's just going to get worse.he wasn't removed because of the breach.

But misleading HoC. As well as misleading the committee.

What does BDS mean?

The “Westminster Blob” didn't plot to remove him. 41% of his own MPs voted against him in a vote of confidence, and 65 Ministers resigned in 2022 to drive him from office because his lies and incompetence were a disaster for the country.

He isn't uniquely popular. He left office the most unpopular PM for a century, and when he tried to return after Truss resigned, he couldn't find enough MPs to support his candidacy - Penny Mordaunt got more - so he gave up.

I doubt it.

Erm.

Sorry but no.

3 tory leave mps. 3 non tory mps 1 remain tory mp.

What I said was correct. Majority Tory MPs. Of the Tory MPs 3 of 4 voted leave.

We all know what this is about. Trying to pretend that this is some impartial committee is fooling nobody.

Regrettably the political weaponisation of administrative apparatus by the Democrats in the US, and by Remainers in the UK for short term political advantage is going to have serious implications for societal cohesion, for the future of democracy, and trust in government.

It's totally shameful. But those who sew the wind etc....

Alexander lost, he is a proven liar, get over it , stop crying etc etc "

I am sure we all appreciate your sophisticated and nuanced input.

"To some extent Johnson has been hoisted by his own petard.

It's just going to get worse.he wasn't removed because of the breach.

But misleading HoC. As well as misleading the committee.

Do you think all previous Prime Ministers have not misled Parliament?

Even if Johnson misled Parliament over this issue, it is so utterly trivial that I really don't care.

There are much bigger things for our elected representatives to be concerned about than this trivial navel gazing.

I am not "defending Johnson". I am simply pointing out that in a highly divided society, taking excessive administrative action such as this which can easily be seen by one half of the population as biased and unfair, is unlikely to yield positive results for society as a whole.

In the hearing he was specifically asking by conservatives mp Charles walker “some of your supporters in parliament are spinning to the press that this is a kangaroo court. Do you agree with this assertion?”

Johnson…. “No I don’t”

Walker….. “would you then condemn your colleagues for doing this, and the vicious behaviour of some towards the members of this committee?”

Johnson….. “yes I do”

Walker… will you then honour the findings of this committee?

Johnson….. yes

How will Leave voters see this?

How would Trump supporters (of which there are clearly tens of millions) see his imprisonment?

Those pursuing these administrative measures are being extremely short sighted, and very careless as to the consequences of their actions.

Ealing

Most people are totally envious of the success of Boris Johnson . His achievements are self explanatory. Elected mayor of London , winning an 80 seat election majority, a world leading covid vaccination campaign and a world leader when it came to helping Ukraine .

I cannot think of any pms in recent times who have been as successfull as this ..David Cameron , Teressa May and Liz Truss were all great leaders . With the benefit of hindsight Liz Truss was correct in all her actions and the country is now poorer for abandoning her policies .

The good news is that the earnings of Boris now vastly exceed those which he earned as PM

The opinions of Boris are far more important than those of the narrow minded so called libertarian metropolitan elite who turn their noses down at anyone with whom they disagree

.

Imagine having nothing better to do with your life than being on a privileges committee.

It is results that count , not opinions . Boris achieved results on everything that he did .

Well obviously Johnson doesn't accept the findings of the Committee, so I'm not sure the premise of your question is correct.

But in any case are you suggesting that minor infractions of rules should be enforced regardless of the consequences for society? If a minor rule infringement enforcement caused a civil war resulting in the deaths of millions, would you still enforce it?

What about people who pull down statues of slav ers, or JSO protestors, suffragettes, illegal immigrants? Lock them all up?

What about people who pull down statues of slav ers, or JSO protestors, suffragettes, illegal immigrants? Lock them all up?"

The committee made a recommendation, it isn’t a court of law and doesnt enforce any rules , they haven’t stopped Alexander from being an MP, he did that when he resigned

"Most people are totally envious of the success of Boris Johnson .

Alexander is a proven liar,

He has very little support in the Tory party

He was a terrible PM

He is not longer an MP

Stop crying and get over it

Johnson…. “No I don’t”

Walker….. “would you then condemn your colleagues for doing this, and the vicious behaviour of some towards the members of this committee?”

Johnson….. “yes I do”

Walker… will you then honour the findings of this committee?

Johnson….. yes

…….. fast forward to Friday and today….. blah blah blah kangaroo court!!!

How will Leave voters see this?

How would Trump supporters (of which there are clearly tens of millions) see his imprisonment?

"To some extent Johnson has been hoisted by his own petard.

It's just going to get worse.he wasn't removed because of the breach.

But misleading HoC. As well as misleading the committee.

I doubt it.

Erm.

Sorry but no.

3 tory leave mps. 3 non tory mps 1 remain tory mp.

If this is the straw we are now clutching the only disagreement within the committee was that 5 of them agreed on the 90 day suspension.. 2 of the mps (1 labour and 1 snp) thought he should be expelled completely……

Which means your 3 lovely Tory leave mps still found his so guilty they agreed to the 90 days!!!"

The straw clutching really is pathetic. You beat me to my next point Fabio but thanks.

Oh Pat good to have you back with some truly vicious Tory trolling. It has been dull and oh too serious here lately.

I need to respond though in case the Boris Koolaid Drinkers think you are being serious...

He didn't Get Brexit Done. His Oven Ready Deal went right in the toilet.

——

He didn't Get All The Big Decisions Right during Covid. We ended up with the worst economy in the OECD and one of the highest mortality rates worldwide.

——

He isn't/didn’t offering unique leadership on Ukraine. He just went there a lot to avoid troubles at home.

I say let the Johnson supporters march and protest (I think Civil War is a bit far fetched). The police have the power now through the POB to shut down all that protest and take them all into custody. Happy days

I don't see everything through that prism. As before I am simply acknowledging that in the US and UK we have become highly polarised societies along fairly binary lines, and I wonder how that ends, and also how we can step back from it.

I actually don't see anything in the US or UK that suggests politicians are trying to smooth over that division, in fact everything they are doing is quite the opposite.

this is why I believe in PR. ATM everything is binary by and large. It creates an echo chamber of endowment effects because it becomes increasingly hard to say "I like labours policy on x, but Tory on y". Or "there are some benefits of brexit but also some costs".

And once in, a party feels like it has a mandate from the public on everything it stood on ... Which also imo means ppl can't vote for some parties. Eg a leaver may struggle to vote lib Dems, because while they agree on most other things, they disagree on brexit.

PR helps create some shades to better understand what people want.

I actually don't see anything in the US or UK that suggests politicians are trying to smooth over that division, in fact everything they are doing is quite the opposite."

The sitting Government is a Government dominated by Brexit supporting Conservatives that still hold the best part of an 80 seat majority.

Everything that has happened since 2019 has happened via a Government with a huge majority of people who think just like you.

Just who do you think then can enact laws and push agendas to smooth over divisions of not a Government with a huge majority?

Well we can all try to smooth division can't we.

Your way of smoothing division seems to be to talk about nothing but Brexit and blame every problem on the "Brexit supporting Conservatives". You seem to be totally obsessed with it.

You are 100% the problem. Seek help.

In fairness, while I agree with you about division being a big problem here.

You are captain division, anyone a micron to the left of Hitler is a crazy socialist loony left (insert all the long list of insults you've used over your various profiles here). You seem to lap up all the divisive tactics used, IE "immigrants cause all your problems" or "anyone who threatens the profits of the oil companies are your enemy" etc etc.

I have never mentioned oil companies ever. It's not a conspiracy theory I subscribe to. It's totally inane, when the exact same companies will be providing the EV infrastructure that you so desperately want.

The only person around here who talks about oil companies is you. Try taking your tin foil hat off.

The reason you think I am divisive is because you inhabit a little lefty bubble and never come across anyone with different opinions.

Too Hot and others like them are definitely part of the problem. Failure to accept that and just blaming the Tories because they're the ones in power does nothing but keep the division.

Blame the Tories for a myriad of things but this discussion was about division.

If you have a society that is divided along binary lines, both sides need to make the effort to reconcile.

If one side simply blames the other endlessly then there can be no reconciliation. Anyone with a pea for a brain can see that.

Fine, blame the Tories, Brexiteers all you like, it's an unbelievably simplistic view of the world. But it certainly isn't going to help with any reconciliation.

There you go.

Lol. I'm not sure if you deliberately set out to prove me right or not. But bravo, that was good.

In any case. Insulting anyone who has any view not in alignment with yours, is hardly a unifying act.
