The other really annoying thing is that these people are (like me) outraged by the Public Order Bill but are playing directly into the reasons given for why it is needed. It is a self fulfilling prophecy. They truly are idiots doing themselves, and those more moderate people who may want to protest on occasion, no favours (although I still maintain there will be Agent Provocateurs).

I go to a festival every year where JSO banners etc. are very prominent because they think they're preaching to the converted (it's that kind of festival). I'm planning to go again this year but this time I'm going over (or under) the fence with a packed lunch, no spending money and a few pots of orange powder. Karma. The biggest bitch you'll ever know

The first problem is we can't simply stop oil usage tomorrow.

Second problem is, JSO can't grasp that industry is working hard to reduce oil consumption in all of the places oil is being consumed or being used for consumables.

Third problem, literally everybody is onboard but refer to problem 1&2.

Which means we know the issues, but we don't like to see vandalism and disruption, it loses them support.

The participants in these environmental protests seem to be overwhelmingly white, female, and middle class.

They are clearly being radicalised somewhere, presumably at posh schools and universities. The authorities should respond to the problem in the same way as they would radicalised Muslims or the radicalised "Far Right", and look to the source of the radicalisation.

They are looking for maximum publicity, sporting events gives them this, I don’t particularly agree with this approach , no idea what the orange paint signifies

I have seen the organisers selecting the elderly and disabled to glue themselves to the road as they know they will get a small fine if anything. Even though the worst that could happen could be they get run over ! Yet the organisers drive diesel 4x4 cars ! Just hypocrites

The media should lower the prominence and reach of their vandalism, you don't see other vandals who use paint in the news.

The eco warrior oneupmanship that drives them would soon dissipate. It wont stop them, they will resurface at the next headline thing, much like the XR vandal who threw orange paint at the Chelsea flower show.

We do need to migrate away from oil as an energy source, but it needs a joined-up plan. Latest fiasco is the National Grid not being ready to connect to green energy generation. Security of generation also needs consideration as we move to EVs. What if our grid was knocked out by a hostile enemy? Then our transport system is down.

The National Grid would cope as it can cope with industrial and commercial load as for the UKPN network supply to you house that's aa diferant mater I have been trying to get an up grade for months but looks like the cable in the road is to old to take extra load.
