How ironic it will be if the weak point in the whole Russian front line turns out to be Bakhmut.

Months and months of inch by inch advances by the Russians at the cost of tens of thousands of lives and in the space of two days the Ukrainians have started a two pronged flanking movement that could literally isolate the city in a matter of days.

I am visioning arrows moving back and forth over a map.

I would wait a few days to really make sure they can take it.

Not ironic at all, think about it. It is by nature a weak point, the question is how well is it defended. The problem Russians have in other places is that they have built defences, which may keep the Ukrainians away but also present a problem if the Russians need to advance over what they have in place.

The counter offensive will be unpredictable. Ukraine is very capable of thunder runs. The object of that is to find the defensive weaknesses and then to exploit it. At first you will see attacks on all the lines. From bakmut to Crimea. Then you find the weakest point and commit the reserve forces. What is shocking is the Russian defense line trench lines do not give the flexibility for rapid deployment. Your infantry is in a trench on foot.

To me. Russia didn't learn anything about blitzkrieg. The go back to the more the bodies the better. Modern warfare is fire and maneuver. If the terrain dictates. It's spring and summer...

Don't fall for the rubbish in our media. The Ukrainians are not having an easy time of it at all. That said, from what hubby has been hearing it sounds like those supplies all our governments have been talking about have started reaching the front lines in the last week.

well yes they needed the training in the vehicles first. Just can't jump out of a T 72 and jump straight into a leopard. It takes months of training.

It’s more the translated Russian Telegram channels that are broadcasting the info. Then there is Prigozhin’s escalating and very public spat with the Russian military.

I would say that the official media outlets are probably some way behind the developing situation.

Not referring to specifically that, was referring to the literal lack of light ammunition and artillery shells, which is what has been in exceedingly short supply up until a week ago.
