"You OP appears to be sympathetic? Nobody is made to be PM and I have zero sympathy for anyone who chooses to go for the job. They are public servants and as such should be expected to be held to the highest standard, be utterly scrutinised, and face the consequences of any transgressions. " Bear this in mind when a Labour PM is under fire

"Where the fuck is Sunak anyway? Also, trying to rehabilitate the tory brand is like trying to polish a turd." What do you mean, where is he?

"I don't think its ever been as bad as it has been in the last 10yrs or so. The office has been turned into an absolute circus by a bunch of spoiled rich kids. They are primarily responsible for the circus, aided by their tabloid friends. That is the environment they are most comfortable in, as they have been completely unfit for an office of that stature. Sunak does appear to be trying to bring some professionalism and maturity to the position, of late." If Sunak can pull off the N Ireland protocol thing, he will simultaneously put the ERG and the DUP in their place. At that moment the Conservative Party will be able to start to rehabilitate itself. Unfortunately, I don’t see this happening for all his best intentions. The ERG can only be nullified within the Party when they are out of office and the DUP can be put in its place by allowing the people of N Ireland to vote on any proposed solutions with the EU. I do admire Sunak for trying to do what he is doing and I wish that I thought differently about the outcome but I just can’t see him facing down the extremists and winning.

"Where the fuck is Sunak anyway? Also, trying to rehabilitate the tory brand is like trying to polish a turd. What do you mean, where is he?" He’s rarely on TV and other outlets, or talking about his vision, it’s like he doesn’t want to face the nation. Probably because even he thinks the tories are a lost cause, what is the point of promoting them.

People got used to seeing the PM with their mug stuck in some tabloid or some nonsense story, just keeping everyone distracted, while they were doing very little. Sunaks silence is a breath of fresh air, surely?

Who said anything about not having a private life? The key point is “not breaking the law” to which you need to add “not breaking the ministerial code” and “not putting at risk national security” and “not financially benefitting yourself, your friends , cronies or family” ie utterly scrutinised! Johnson, for example, couldn’t tick any of those boxes! Nobody should care what they do in their private life as long as those actions do not compromise their integrity and ability to do the job. But if those actions result in you being open to influence then that isn’t acceptable in public office.

"You just have to love British democracy A PM who originally lost the leadership campaign No one voted for him as PM A PM with Non Dom status A PM who appears to be a part time worker A PM who he and his wife avoids paying tax A PM who's wife's income comes from Russian oligarchs How did this happen and why are we not having a Revolution " Plus he has yet to publish his tax affairs, which he promised to do.
