Wow!

I’ve never seen the Daily Fail write so many articles on one thing in such as concerted effort to whip up anti Harry and Meghan feeling.

It’s pure hatred like I’ve never seen before.

Is it’s the right wings way of burying bad news?

Yes a few articles here and there, but this has been a figurative article blitz! And the comments, it’s like some massive hate campaign by the DM.

Why are the DM so angry for? Its like they want to ignore how shit the tories are doing for some strange reason :-/

Because its a shit stirring, hate mongering newspaper. You are not its target audience.

It would be good if it could just be ignored. But unfortunately it influences a lot of people into becoming intolerant.

Those two are full of crap. She is only happy if she is the centre of attention and he just whines. Think their latest ego boosting series on netflix is failing on them. Although the first episode had a lot of viewers, the numbers who have watched the second and third episodes are a long way down... No sympathy of either of them. They both need to get a life

I am sure America has its traditions, like the 4th of July, or thanksgiving. There are usually parades they are expensive also.

It’s culture again, everyone has it.

It’s mind boggling on our side when we think that you give thanks to native Americans who’s land you stole, but hey ho.

We don't need a monarchy to justify our existence. England and later the United kingdom has a history of one monarch going back over 1000 years (Athelstan I think was the name of the first ). Before that it was made up of individual kingdoms each with their own monarch, a tribal system if you like. It's traditional, historic but we would continue to exist without it.

As above its pomp and circumstance that has grown over many centuries, it gives a sense of place and national identify which can be very grounding and valuable

From replies. In UK yes we have a head of state . Which is King Charles . Yet he only signs off the government of the time documents . Yet really is there to be ‘ symbolic ‘ . He has no power . If say America . The President had more powers . Instance King Charles cannot authorise say a nuclear attack . Yet an American President can .

The sovereign grant pays for some but they also have private means. It's unclear how much they bring in via tourism and if that's more than they receive. Whatever the truth of that it still doesn't mean Britain is a dictator ship

That's not how it works. The royals do get a sovereign Grant but that money comes from the monarch in the first place via the crown estate. The amount paid to the government by the monarch is roughly 4 times the amount they receive back in the sovereign grant.

Like it or not the Daily Mail simply reports the facts and the various different columnists will have different opinions on issues . They usually publish both sides of an argument and readers can form their own judgement. As far as I am aware there is no law that stipulates that anyone must accept the opinion of the Daily Mail.

An indication of the Daily Mails success is that they have sales of at least one million copies in a declining market. They must be doing most things ( if not all ) correctly in order to maintain their circulation.

If people agree with your opinion their sales would plummet

It’s true, the amount of sales is important for them, I’ve just never seen so many articles about one topic in one day. It was like they wanted to shove their opinion hard down its readers throats.

Whereas other papers didn’t really care much about it.

I think the DM protests too much, which in my view means they are looking more guilty about their behaviour, and the article blizzard was their way of justifying their behaviour.

Of course the DM is going to convince its readership its right, it needs the support of its readers to make the conversation about Harry and Meghan being hypocrites, or about Meghan being an aggressive person, or Meghan emasculating Harry.

But what has come out of this, is that it shows the UK media has a real unhealthy obsession with the Royal family in general.

Part fawning spectator, part psychopathic nanny.

It adores them on one hand, but one false step by them and it goes all murderous axe killer rage to destroy them.
