Is it just me or has BBC news lost its way since the appointment of an ex GB News journalist as its director. I think it has been running scared for months now and this is the latest example of its collapse under the Tories.

I think it’s running scared of the present Tory threats to its funding which is a shame. The government don’t like its independent ability to actually call them out on the truth of our situation as a nation. Although I don’t think the BBC does anywhere near enough fact telling and exposing of lies. They should expose all party untruths both left and right. After all it is our, the fee payer’s broadcaster.

I personally think it should bare its teeth more often.

When you consider the amazing output it produces both in this country and globally it’s an amazing organisation.

Yes it’s not perfect I agree however, a lot of people go on about the need for soft power. Well having probably the most respected broadcaster in the world as our voice must surely add huge weight to this country’s soft power.

Yes I totally agree that it produces amazingly good Tv but the political appointments (and self confessed bias) of the director general and head of news are undermining its credibility and damaging its output. I am not a great fan of Emily Maitlis but I can see that her speech in Edinburgh a few months ago about the BBC and it’s false equivalence undermining its own position was very relevant

The BBC always has been a government propaganda arm. The only thing with it is that occasionally disagrees with other establishment branches over certain things.

That said, it does appear to pretty much run the same stories as the DailyFail these days of maybe the DailyFail isncopying the BBC?

I’d like the BBC to piss off all the political parties, as I think it would then being doing a proper job of exposing how truly bad they have been at running the country.

I’m not getting into Brexit but they now admit they had 40 economists saying Brexit will be a disaster to every 1 economist saying it will be good but they gave equal airtime so as not to be provocative . I want provocative and truth not political expedience .

40 to one is a memory so I’m not quoting but it was a big number gap .

Anyway the point is they weren’t truthful in reporting the weight of evidence for one side over the other. Why is that?? Who was controlling that decision and how can anyone have that control? It’s not good for any of us if the truth is avoided.

Look at the mess left by Boris and his lies about virtually everything.

I've not seen any change as yet myself. I read the BBC more than other outlets but do find the BBC don't always highlight things in the same way. For instance when Paris stock market overtook London on one measurement the BBC gave this its own story. When it turned out to be a very short lived event and blonde retook the lead they did not give that it's own story. Instead the detail had to be found in the possible bank rules changing story.
