Normal people say 'changed their minds. Media frames decisions like that as 'U turn' to insinuate the person cannot plan responsibly.

It's perfectly reasonable to change your stance on an issue, if new information has come to light that has a material impact on the reasoning behind that stance. I'd expect everyone to do that.

However, if you're only changing your stance because you've been called out on it, then it's perfectly reasonable to call it a u-turn

this. And to add, if everyone tells you it's a bad idea and xyz will happen, you do it, and xyz happens. This isn't new information of other people had it. It's poor analysis.

aha. I didn't know. Would have guessed that.

Interesting one. He's stopped pushing on a closed door. Finally. U turns imo are quicker and sharper. I'm guessing he has offered up a diet version of this?
