"Sounds like Braverman deliberately did not book alternate accomodation, resulting in a serious worsening of conditions @ Manston. Also unlawful detention." That will please the right wing racists,

"I doubt whether anyone aside from the usual suspects is going to care about conditions at Manston. They have come of their own volition for economic advantage. If they don't like it then they should return to France." Some people are indeed too shockingly ignorant to care.

If she stopped the booking hotels policy knowing it would back up the facility, then she is deliberately breaking the law!

Everyone who entered the UK illegally on a small boat is, by definition, a criminal therefore should be locked up not put in a hotel. As for the conditions at Manston, why should we care? Expand the facility and keep everyone there. Their asylum applications should be assessed (and rejected) quickly so that they can be deported.

"It's worth noting there are apparently young kids in what is now effectively an overcrowded prison." Kids! Oh my god we can’t have that can we. Are you sure these ‘kids’ are not the grown men (early 20’s) that make false claims of being 15? With daily stabbings and now running street gun battles on a frequent basis, how terrible to have kids who are here uninvited held up in an illegal immigrant processing centre.

They weren’t coming here to help rebuild the UK. They came as there were jobs and a better chance to make a living rather than being unemployed at home. They came to help themselves. Nothing wrong with that as the rules at the time allowed it. They did both, great people , helping a notion in a time of great need, they choose to come here, they should be admired They were not helping a nation in need and you know it. They did, and you know it. They choose to help, such an amazing gesture Now you are just being deliberately confrontational for some strange reason. Not at all, are we not allowed a difference of opinion on here? Amazing people who helped rebuild out a nation in our time of great need " No doubt a few were amazing, most were probably ordinary or mediocre, and some we'd have been better without. I'm sure they came with a multitude of motivations, some selfish and some altruistic.

Not at all, like you said earlier, we have a proud tradition of helping asylum seekers, we need them as much as they need us , they can help rebuild this broken country . Why do you say that the Windrush immigrants were ‘amazing’? They are, brave hard working people, choosing to help rebuild a broken nation, You know that’s rubbish, we’ve covered it before. They weren’t coming here to help rebuild the UK. They came as there were jobs and a better chance to make a living rather than being unemployed at home. They came to help themselves. In fact, you are the only person that I have ever encountered to express this view, yet for some reason you are convinced that you are correct. It is genuinely odd. Wasting my time I know. Do you think the UK sent the Windrush to ask people from the Caribbean- as lovely as they are, to come and help us rebuild after the war? Yes, which made a welcome change at the time because they used to order them " Wrong again.

Once again you provide no information to verify your statement other than your own assertion. In fact, you change the topic. I noticed. Did you? Why did you do that, do you think? Why would the UK have sent it? They don't send planes to collect skilled migrants now. What is the "gotcha" that you were aiming for?

"Sounds like Braverman deliberately did not book alternate accomodation, resulting in a serious worsening of conditions @ Manston. Also unlawful detention." Nearly all young men don’t forget. Do they get a room each or share?

"Leaky Sue's notorious leaking is not the only reason she has to go. The situation @ Manston looks awful. And that's within the purview of Braverman." Suella being criticised for her language can you believe? It is an invasion, it is a myth that they are genuine asylum seekers. Why do we criticise our politicians when they call it out as it is . We should support politicians more.

Uninvited of course. Taking advantage of our proud history of helping genuine refugees, taking advantage of British values. Funny that only now because Manston has been overwhelmed by the numbers has it returned to mainstream reporting. Early in the year the daily crossings were being downplayed.

I posted the reasons on another thread. In a nutshell: useless IT systems, poor staff performance, lax laws so anyone can claim to be "trafficked", lack of will to deal with the problem (political and from staff and unions), too many lefty lawyers with an agenda clogging up the system with spurious appeals. The asylum system should be for those few people in genuine need of protection because they have done something good which has marked them out for persecution in their home country. So Afghan interpreters, middle east LGBT activists, opposition parties in totalitarian regimes etc. It is not there to take anyone and everyone who is slightly struggling or thinks life is better elsewhere. It would be expected that people would bring their families so the normal cross section of the population would arrive. I can't believe that all the single men of working age are at risk of persecution in any country.

It is hard to believe when you see these young men with designer clothes & trainers waving & smiling as they come ashore. Others with heads down & hoods up of course. We have no idea who they are. we don't. But i would expect any asylum processing to identify them. Why do you fear that the system can be gamed ? Is everyone's system being gamed or as a poster above suggests, is this a UK issue ? Ps do you have a video title I can Google to see vids of designer goods and waving ? Just a quick look at the news reports of the guys getting off boats. The level of abuse is much higher than reported. I can't believe that all the single men of working age are at risk of persecution in any country." Some of your points are perfectly valid. Some are some sort of a fever dream. There are not hordes of "lefty lawyers". The law is applied as it exists. We have had an anti-immigration Government in place for over a decade. Legislation could have been changed by now but it hasn't because what has been proposed to replace it would cause a problem to your rights as much as anyone else's. However, do provide some evidence of "spurious appeals clogging up the system". Just thinking something is so, or reading a newspaper article doesn't make it so. Where's the actual data? There is, allegedly, a political will to stop illegal immigration, but it has been focused on closing all legal routes for refugees, this making the only method of them getting here on small boats with illegal gangs. This enables a route for those who are economic migrants and a small number of criminals. If legal routes for refugees were available it is very straightforward to return everyone who does not apply this way to be sent back to close to where they originated and excluded from applying having to apply but with a mark against them. How can you say that single men if working age aren't at risk anywhere? They are the ones most likely to rise up and fight against a cruel regime. Who do you thing was doing the fighting against Assad and Daiesh in Syria, old women and pregnant women?

Why characterise Albanians as enemies and vilify an entire people to the point where their Prime Minister an President have to comment on our country's rhetoric? Are the majority of these Albanians actually claiming asylum or benefits? Doubling down on the failed UK immigration policy that is fsiling. The Home Secretary has said as much in Parliament. The policy that has been focused on eliminating legal routes for refugees but cannot return non-refugees to a country that will take them back and France and Germany seem able to manage to do. Doubling down on that failed policy.

Suella being criticised for her language can you believe? It is an invasion, it is a myth that they are genuine asylum seekers. Why do we criticise our politicians when they call it out as it is . We should support politicians more. You do know that the majority of Albanians coming here illegally are not claiming asylum, don't you? Did that fact pass you by? There is no "invasion". Are they trying to take anything from us? Land, property? This language just brands all Albanians as an enemy, even if they have been here for years. Just as Brexit did. A distraction from things going wrong. Again, are you able to explain how doubling down on the system that caused this problem will improve the situation? What do you mean ‘doubling down on the system that caused this problem’ They are uninvited and arrive by illegal means. Why do we not send them straight back and invoice them or Albania for our time and inconvenience? Once again, skip the parts that are tricky to answer What are these Albanians taking from us that makes them invaders? Why characterise Albanians as enemies and vilify an entire people to the point where their Prime Minister an President have to comment on our country's rhetoric? Are the majority of these Albanians actually claiming asylum or benefits? Doubling down on the failed UK immigration policy that is fsiling. The Home Secretary has said as much in Parliament. Her own party's decade long approach has failed. The policy that has been focused on eliminating legal routes for refugees but cannot return non-refugees to a country that will take them back and France and Germany seem able to manage to do. Doubling down on that failed policy." It’s not failing. It’s been overwhelmed by unwanted uninvited people taking advantage

And really started escalating about 2015. Over 10 years it went from about 5k to 60k. Sure the 40k we have seen this year has added it to it more than previous years. But it's simoly added more gas onto a raging fire. The idea that this "invasion" was the cause of the fire is false. That people think the sytsme was okay until now shows some of tej media sleight of hand is working.

The majority of your posts are pushing a white British Faragist agenda and I think that you’re more than clever enough to know that your disingenuous posts are designed to trigger and disrupt the flow on here. As for your previous assertion that there are a pack of us who gather and share information on how to attack and pick on you well frankly that just sounds paranoid and as well you know you have your own tribe on here who are more than willing to join in with you

I'm still waiting for you, or anyone else, to explain how stopping all legitimate routes for refugees to travel to seek asylum or removing people granted asylum to Rwanda helps prevent economic migrants or some number of "criminals" from coming to the UK.
