If so, I guess he didn't get the numbers when it comes to MPs.

(Notice,I didn't say he might pull out. Based on ample evidence, he has never pulled out in his life.)

It'd be nice. But drains + sewers deserve better than him.

There's a rumour him + Sunak had some sort of meeting too. Stinks of them making some sort of agreement...

Conservatives- the conservation is their own sad backsides..

Pile em up on the streets.

Boris will try to get what he wants at the cost of the economy, energy support and 7% plus, mortgages.

Small price to pay.. to him

I hope he does pull out. The last thing either the country or the conservative party needs now is Johnson. I'm beginning to wonder whether the conservative party has a serious, collective case of Lesch-Nyhan Syndrome.

There is zero chance he will put himself up unless he has the 100 votes as he would not want any of the humiliation….

If he does not have the votes then expect the phrase “decide not to run for the unity of the party “ to be used a lot…

I think that Rishi told him that if he stood and won, then all the Rishi MPs would walk away from Government.

Surely given the amount of kids he is supposed to have this will be the first time on record he’s pulled out.

Bad experience in India once on a demonstration. "

Fucking grim comments and totally unnecessary.

It does not matter which one gets in as it’s become yet another’s boys club again psst! They never wanted a woman in the job

I think by their actions they have lost any credibility as a party and no I’m not a labour supporter

It’s supposed to be about the country as a whole and all either side can talk about is winning the NEXT election

It was a bit distasteful to be honest

I imagine it's Boris saying he'll go quietly if the Privileges Committee investigation "goes away" and their is a peerage for him in the future.

To which Sunak will agree for short-term gain, but if this happens it will play very badly for the party.

The only way the investigation goes away would be for Johnson to quit as an MP…..

a peerage would mean he'd have to... Or would the investigation still continue if he was still in Parliament?

Pretty much, Boris's only priority is Boris Boris Boris, with someone else picking up the tab

He's part time at best anyway so not so much of a sacrifice (plus he gets to stand down rather than get voted out) especially if it gets him some ermine

How the Torys can seriously be considering putting this liar / charlatan / clown back into the top job is beyond me, they hounded him out 6 weeks ago, quite rightly, and now they want him back.

They are taking the p### now.

Would they be better with a different liar / charlatan / clown?

In fairness to the Tories, Boris made the party donors even richer, lined their own pockets, and got them re-elected. Why would they care about his lack of empathy or morals?

I'm not convinced he will run, I think if he gets the 100 he will win if it goes to the members but him and Mourdant are essentially splitting the fight wing vote..

If Boris doesn't get the numbers he won't enter the race but support Mourdant and hope the members go with her and him on the ticket..

If they are splitting the right wing vote then either neither of them will make 100 and Rishi gets his coronation… or they will bulk and choose.. Rishi probably beats penny, but boris beats Rishi with the membership…

I really thought that he might be mad enough to run and that the Party might be mad enough to appoint him.

We would have had some short term pain but we would likely have seen the end of the Conservative Party.

Such a shame.
