It's 'you're' and I'm just trying to keep it decent.

All senses of this word are vulgar slang and are very strongly tabooed and censored....there are many words used to refer to people in sexual terms. However, to call a person that especially a woman, is one of the most hateful and powerful examples of verbal abuse in the English language and seeing that another woman could be elected leader, it was disgraceful to use it and deserves a ban.

I suspect calling people 'snowflake' who object, will see many couples and women block you. Not thought through!

Of course but I'm allowed an opinion especially as it offended me! The fact that it's for Tory MPs to decide on the next leader doesn't stop you!

And I'm not 'old chap' to you any more than you're 'my dear' to me. How patronising!

My money is on her as well. I think she's the only one that various factions of the tories can tolerate.

However, that's because she's a bit of a blank slate as she's not had much of a powerful job especially at a time of crisis. Could end up as being a Truss-lite, depending on who's in the cabinet.

Not really. In the East End of London the C word is a term of endearment. It’s all in the delivery. But if the Mods decide then I will take my porridge.

BTW if you are so offended by a word, perhaps it is best not to keep quoting it, especially if it was deleted.

I’d say there are far bigger things to be offended about such as foodbanks, rising mortgage rates, energy company profiteering, Tory party corruption etc etc but get, that’s just me

You can call me My Dear if you want. Doesn’t offend me. I suppose it might offend my wife but suspect not, she’d just laugh it off.

Quite.

That particular word has a long English history. And in my view, no words are bad words, there are just places and times for their appropriate use.

I'm not sure why profanity is so objectionable on a site like this. It seems like the appropriate venue.

"i thought this was adult site "

I’m limiting it to my sessions in the local tap room, and of course to the lads in the golf club. It’s legendary. It’s wasted on here as I have to compete with trolls that think deporting people is funny, as is giving inappropriate names to members of parliament.

This country is going rapidly downhill if you ask me. The level of debate has sunk. I blame the internet, companies that deliver food ordered by an app to lazy bastards who can’t be bothered to cook or even make a sandwich. And, Oil rich states investing in English football clubs. I’m off to France - they like a good debate out there . Au revoir!

There are over 750 days until the next general election in January 2025 … unless one is called earlier.

That give all current conservative MP’s a chance at having a go at being PM for a couple of days…. All take it in turns like being on a rota.

What could possibly go wrong….

Date-wise, good post as many seem to think it's May 2024!

It's January 2025, which represents five years from the day the current Parliament first met (17 December 2019), plus the time required for an election campaign, so late January.

After stabilisation from the Truss turbulence, the party will want to build as much support back as possible.

Thanks to Brexit it’s not as easy as it used to be. I’m a good honest citizen so I will apply through the proper procedures. Tempting as it is to get a dingy to Calais, and request a flat in Paris and a Porsche on arrival. Also have a house to sell.

Dear, dear.

Boys and girls.

Take a second and be nice to each other.

If in doubt, nip to the pub and repeat a few of your posts to the man, you have never met, standing at the bar.

I'm sure he would listen long and hard before responding.

Try to be nice, it's so much more attractive, especially for those of you looking for meets.

The thought that someone may call me a cunt on a first meet doesn't flutter my fanny.

Go on make your next post a nice one, you know you really want to.

Will have to agree to disagree as sometimes certain words are necessary to truly sum up the mood or identify traits/behaviours/ethics or individuals. If Shakespeare can use the C word then so can others. Context is everything and some good old Anglo-Saxon vernacular is anything other than childish.

Dear oh lord? For the geographical record - Spoons is 100 yards ( or a good wedge) from my penthouse apartment. The tap room is 300 yards ( a huge drive with the wind behind) away in a different direction. The golf club is a 15 minute walk away. A nice walk mind you as it’s along the river. Sometimes spot a seal, Herons, and if really lucky - a Kingfisher.

All happy now?

Not in my tap room or golf club they wouldn’t.

Across the road in Spoons perhaps ? But I don’t go in there.

Your golf club can’t be very posh if there is a spoons across the road

Blimey - it’s not across the road from my golf club. I don’t like ‘posh’ golf clubs anyway. I’m a sport for all kind of guy.

I think it was the childish use of the C word, and, for the record, referring to the Home Secretary as a ‘ghoul’. Odd, unless I’ve missed something?

Will have to agree to disagree as sometimes certain words are necessary to truly sum up the mood or identify traits/behaviours/ethics or individuals. If Shakespeare can use the C word then so can others. Context is everything and some good old Anglo-Saxon vernacular is anything other than childish."

I’m far from a saint so I kind of agree. When driving I often use the C word. All the time actually! Typing though - come on, we are better than that?

Consider myself pretty eloquent (typos aside) but sometimes there are certain words that just sum things up nicely. If the cap fits and all that!

How often do you drink in spoons?"

If you check back I said I don’t go in there. Actually I did last Wednesday as a few friends wanted to meet to discuss how we can help the owner of our favourite bar who has a few problems. Fuck me it’s cheap in there , two large G&Ts for under a tenner. It was heaving - on a Wednesday night!

"Dear, dear.

It’s just a bit of banter, nobody is forced to read or comment on here, things get heated, we are not all on here to make your fanny flutter "

Oh dear, I thought it was a swingers site, all about fanny flutters, I stand corrected.

Anyway, no more time for your interesting, hilarious banter, off into Chester, something to eat and a couple of drinks.

Have fun, you naughty forumites, notice a few of you live close, why don't you arrange a meet up and have banter in the pub face to face.

Have fun, be nice, I know it's difficult but you'll find you become a better person...in time.

"Cunt (as a preface for whoever gets the job)

Be careful...you could end up with a week's suspension, just like a certain news anchor!

Outrageous and I see it's been removed. Deserves a ban like that foul mouthed C4 presenter!

Your being a bit of a snowflake

It's 'you're' and I'm just trying to keep it decent.

All senses of this word are vulgar slang and are very strongly tabooed and censored....there are many words used to refer to people in sexual terms. However, to call a person that especially a woman, is one of the most hateful and powerful examples of verbal abuse in the English language and seeing that another woman could be elected leader, it was disgraceful to use it and deserves a ban.

I suspect calling people 'snowflake' who object, will see many couples and women block you. Not thought through! "

oh give your head a wobble mate its a great word with many different ways of using it, being on a site like this i would of thought you would be a bit more openminded

How often do you drink in spoons?

What's spoons?"

An affectionate name for Wetherspoons

"Russia about to get hammered at Kherson. Putin will be forced to use tactical nuclear within a fortnight

This means a USA/Uk response (Hungary will veto nato action, and Macron already said no ) so whoever gets PM job will be making some very big decisions.

At this point, putting Albo in charge of the nukes would be less crackers than a lot of what's happened

The worst thing the Tories could do for the country now is to bring back Johnson. Since they have excelled in making awful choices, they may well do it.

Anyone not called Johnson or Sunuk who makes the last 2 effectively has two-thirds of MPs on their side given if it comes down to them v Johnson/Sunak all the Johnson/Sunak supporters will vote to oppose each other

I really doubt people will block either the swearer or the person calling you a snowflake.

Stop getting so worked up and right on lol

An analogy isn't necessary nor appropriate, it's simply the machinations of one of the main political parties..

It's one that has many people critical but for those people who are members it's down to them to change if they so desire..

Perhaps contact Conservative home..?

There will be horse trading by Tory MPs to ensure at least one person gets to that limit. The key players will have blocks of votes that they can trade with other people to ensure they get a good cabinet position.

Are you saying that because of personal opinion or because you think the Tory mp’s believe that one of the other candidates would be a better electoral chance?

This vote is not about what any of us in this thread think it is right - it is about what Tory MPs think will give the greatest chance of avoiding an electoral wipeout. The reality is that Boris is the only one who has resonated with the public and a lot of people didn’t want him removed. Many MPs can’t stand him but they can stand being ex- MPs even less.

..again,I'm only quoting the 10pm radio 4 news broadcasts, where a political correspondent stated it gets down to two people..then a debate !!.

I personally think it'll be between R. Sunak and Penny Mordant..

Guido Fawkes blog has Boris on 49, Rishi on 35 and Penny on 16 nominations. The betting markets are also favouring Boris being in the running.

Boris has no chance of being the next PM but I do hope he tries

Are you saying that because of personal opinion or because you think the Tory mp’s believe that one of the other candidates would be a better electoral chance?

This vote is not about what any of us in this thread think it is right - it is about what Tory MPs think will give the greatest chance of avoiding an electoral wipeout. The reality is that Boris is the only one who has resonated with the public and a lot of people didn’t want him removed. Many MPs can’t stand him but they can stand being ex- MPs even less."

Bit of a dilemma and no mistake

Only a few thousand members did ..not the conservative MPs ..same final say again next week..a few thousand members..

They'll make sure it's solely the decision of the parliamentary party and doesn't go to the membership again

It’s because he was removed for lying, he is under investigation for lying and the majority of Tory MPs can’t stand him, he is currently on holiday (when he is supposed to be an MP) and he isn’t popular with the public , but I really hope he gives it a try
