What would be lovely of course is instead of career politicians and multimillionaires working for the benefit of their chums, we had people in roles with relevant experience.

Why is it acceptable to have ministers who know fuck all about the job they're doing rather than the relevant subject matter expert's that you'd get in your average multinational business?

Odd that no business leaders seem to want to quit their high paying roles to become MP's on £85k salaries yet those with millions in family money but little real world experience want to jump into vacant positions.

What could possibly be motivating them? Because they're not in it for the good of the public.......

My partner and I have always said the same. I’m sure he’ll agree when he sees the thread. For example, why is someone who has no idea what it takes to for the NHS to run deciding policy? Why is someone who has never worked in education, the education sec? Makes no sense at all

This is the way the system works. Billionaires and corporations donate to the party that they think will best serve their needs. It's been the Tories for the last 12 years.

This gives them the budget for a much slicker PR machine and it gives them the support of then press.

The majority of people aren't engaged in politics, and vote based in headlines and slogans.

Liz Truss can beat that. If she goes before Christmas she'll be the shortest-serving UK Prime Minister ever.

I would expect it to be dealt with on a party level rather than it reaching the point where a a successful confidence vote in the HoC would trigger a GE.

So the question is, if this was a failing business being led by a nincompoop would it be right to let it carry on until it bankrupted itself and in that case should the directors be sacked (and hopefully banned from being directors for a few years)

Business logic (which is what the Tories pride themselves on) would suggest that would be the case but this bunch of low rent shysters are so desperate to cling to power that public humiliation seems to wash off them as if they are covered in goose fat

I don't like politicians full stop. I don't trust any of them and I believe they're all in it for themselves. Before any Tories, and until recently I voted predominantly Tory, try to tell me they got into politics to do their best for the country and all that pony, let me ask why they won't countenance a GE. For the good of themselves and their party, not for the good of county. Whether you're a Labour supporter or not, they have no record in govt over the last 12 years whereas the Tories do and it doesn't make pretty reading. Time for a change, a complete reset and a clear out of the deadwood MPs in blue.
