"Ah so the labour conference was left to get in with it but then apparently it’s ok for the lefties not to afford the same respect then Seems about par for the corse these days " Seems some folk are more concerned with the optics of a conference than with a scorched earth policy being followed by a bunch of incompetents.

Pretty much all those who voted Tory at the last election didn't vote for this idiot and her right wing puppet masters.. One of the most insipid speeches from any leader at any conference, purely sound bites and no substance .. I find myself in the very rare position of agreeing with mad nads..

"The voting population of England is 39000000, Truss was voted in by 81000 Tory members - that’s not what I would call a mandate. If the right wing libertarians in the con party let her run free then they will be out of power for years to come" Excellent

All political parties have them.

So she is taking a completely different path to Boris, introducing policies which were never in the Con’s manifesto which makes her illegitimate and part of a libertarian right wing coup. The public did not vote for these policies and she has no mandate to pursue them.

Queen died on the 8th… they were due to strike on the 14th but this day was the 1st day the Queen body was back in London (taken from Buckingham Palace to Westminster hall to then lie in state) They call off strike out of respect… government law states they have to give 21 days notice, the first Tuesday they could have taken industrial action was the 5th October I never said it was the queens fault, you need to take into consideration the fact of what happened…. Stop being rude and putting words in my mouth when all I did is I just gave you a legal explanation

"The public did not vote for these policies and she has no mandate to pursue them. " The public didn't vote for CoViD either, but it happened and now we have to deal with the results. I don't recall being asked to vote on whether Russia should invade Ukraine, but that happened too. No government has a mandate for any policy unless they go back to the public every time the global situation changes. I'll let you guess how well that would turn out.

"Assume you mean the public didn’t vote for the Govt response to Covid and the public didn’t vote for the Govt response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine." Half and half. I meant that the populace didn't get a view on whether those things happened, or whether we should respond, or what the nature of the response might be. I think we all agree that both of those things merited a response, and for someone to say that the government has no mandate for it is just finding reasons to complain. "Just checking and being pedantic " Pedantry is a good thing, especially when it helps to make a position clearer.
