He's a good public speaker. As a man I find him interesting and I bet he's good fun. I wish him well. I'm not a Tory.

Poor little me. As Kenneth Williams said "infamy infamy they've all got it in for me".

Goodbye to one of the most corrupt and lying cheats that has ever held office. He has no one to blame other than himself for his downfall. Thought he was invincible but as with every other jod he previously had he has been sacked. Something of a theme with him really. Bye bye Boris

Agreed he might well be good fun to have a drink with but I don't think he was a great leader.

Johnson did many things that common sense would tell anyone would not make the electorate favour him, or his party, if the papers got hold of it. He should have learned this lesson about taking liberties after wallpaper gate...but he didn't.

He pretty much was sacked though because his party told him they didn't want him as leader anymore and he had to leave.

A self-pitying, narcissistic, amoral globule of lard who should never have been "leading" the country. Those who put him there should be fucking ashamed of themselves. It doesn't matter how much "fun" some delusional fools think he might be; politics is supposed to be a serious business, not some kind of idiotic "reality TV" show, and overgrown toddlers like him or teenagers like Truss should have no place in it.

He seems to wanna swoop back in and become pm again. At least at the moment. That means he'd need to stick around.

But once the money really starts rolling in for him, that may well change his mind.

Thought it was great and also sad, the best prime minister we’ve had since Churchill, got brexit done, really looked after the country during covid, who actually gives a fuck if his mates threw him a surprise party ! I mean after all he’s been in the building with them all day so what difference does a swift beer make none, if people actually look he would have completed his pledges if allowed to go the full term. England is a worse place today than yesterday. Been a Tory all my life and if that dumb ass liz truss is there at the next election I’ll be voting for the greens

Boris Johnson resigned as PM, and leader of the Conservative Party, this morning.

If he had resigned as PM.on July 7th, then the Queen would have has to appoint someone as PM.

There has to be a PM in place, no matter what the circumstances.

I'm not so sure. She would have to outdo some dumb policies, including send contagious people back to vulnerable care homes, plus send refugees to Rwanda.

Plus try and undo key manifesto policies.

Plus meet dodgy Russians without disclosing it.

Plus break laws she's put in place. And either not realise others were breaking this laws (generous) or lie about them in parliament

Plus appoint a suspected sex offender into a position of power.

Boris wasn't just great because he had a few worldies. But for the number and range of worldies and then consistent low class performance on a day to day basis.

It's not proven because you are completely wrong.

If Boris Johnson had resigned in July a caretaker PM usually from the cabinet would have had to have been made PM. Then it would have been the caretaker PM who resigned today with the Queen so the new leader of the Conservative Party is offered the role of PM by the Queen.

If you do not know the process I suggest you actually read up on it.

He did resign then took the post as caretaker honestly it's all on the conservative party's own website. The Prime Minister has to resign before a leadership race can start. This is no different to what happened with Theresa May.

England is a worse place today than yesterday. Been a Tory all my life and if that dumb ass liz truss is there at the next election I’ll be voting for the greens

Do you get any special benefits when you join the Johnson fan club? Priority tickets for his after dinner speeches? Cardboard cut out or dolly to cuddle up to?

Worst Prime Minister ever! Although he will only hold that crown a short while before Truss takes it. Boris will always be a number two!I'm not so sure.

What’s wrong with sending illegal immigrants to Rwanda, bloody great idea in my book, we live on a tiny island in the middle of the sea, it is not and never will be the whole worlds refuge. Sorry but that’s just my opinion and if that’s so terrible maybe they should pick a different country to take from "

how big is Rwanda ? What's it's population density ?

It's interesting that it's a good plan to send to a smaller, more densly populated country. So more full.

Even if we were in the same page wrt logistics before compassion for refugees, Rwanda is a shit solution other than they are port and so will be turned by money.

Unless the only thing that matters is to get them out of the country and who cares about them, or anyone else.

Or indeed any convention we have signed.

"Actually he has resigned today.

wrong .... he was forced to resign at 12.30pm on the 7th of july

Wrong.......he never actually resigned in that speech.

He has been PM up until today when he offered his resignation to the Queen. "

And thank god he stayed on for those weeks.....look what he got done, cracking stuff.

I'll miss people telling us how great he was. Presumably people who seemingly like be taken for idiots. Takes all sorts I suppose!

Wrong.......he never actually resigned in that speech.

He has been PM up until today when he offered his resignation to the Queen.

today he resigned as caretaker ... he resigned at 12.30pm on the 7th of july despite how much you stamp your feet.

Wrong...... He said on the 7th July he will be PM upon such time a new leader of the Conservative party is elected.

That means in plane English for you he will continue to be PM until a new leader of the Conservative party is elected.

A new leader of the Conservative Party was announced yesterday and Boris Johnson offered his resignation as PM to the Queen today.

it matters not how petulantly vociferous you are in your claims, the facts prove you wrong and that's irrefutable.

In order to formally resign as PM, Boris Johnson had to have an audience with the Queen to inform her of his resignation, with his replacement then invited to form a government by the Queen shortly afterward.

You can close your eyes and stick your fingers in your ears as much as you like, but this is the process that is followed in the UK.

Boris Johnson resigned as PM TODAY.

wrong as already irrefutably proven ... he resigned on the 7th of july ... today he resigned as caretaker

Agree it's the same as what happen with Theresa May.

What happened was Ms May announced she would step down as Conservative Party leader. This meant a new party leader vote was held. Exactly 2 months after Ms May had stepped down as Party leader she offered her resignation to the Queen and then minutes later Boris Johnson became PM.

Yes exactly the same as both May and Johnson remained as PM until there was a new Conservative Party leader and then offered their resignation to the Queen.

OK I have explained it to you and I have told you where you can find the information to backup what I have said but I don't think you will believe it regardless.

Grantham

Official records show that Boris Johnson was Leader of the Conservative Party until September 5th. Succeeded by Liz Truss.

He served 1139 days in office and resigned on September 6th.

There is no constitutional position of "caretaker Prime Minister". You are either PM, or you're not.

Boris's speech was typical Boris which was sad and quite funny.

I like Boris, After John Major, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Theresa May, it was good to have someone with a personality in charge.

The parties did it for him, he had no choice but should have resigned earlier this year.

You have my deepest sympathies for being a lifelong Tory but it’s good to see you have now seen the errors of your ways and will be voting green.

As for getting Brexit done if you think collectively shooting our selves in the foot for the sake of some ideological dogma and little Britain island nation mentality is a good thing I guess you are blind to the economic harm of it.

Always knew that a Boris premiership would end badly. He has a track record for getting sacked and acting the clown.

When a clown sits on a throne that doesn’t make him a king. He is still a clown.

I’m only surprised that he lasted that long…

So good riddance….

I am getting from that statement you are not to keen on Mr Johnson Mrs truss or the party members who anointed them as supreme leader. It is like they are only in it for themselves.
