"Flew to Cologne a few days ago, first flight post Covid and of course Brexit. I knew I couldn’t go through the EU passport section so queued in the non EU Lane. A women with a German passport with her young son who only had a British one realised she was in the wrong queue, she asked if she could get under the tape and go in front of me. No problem of course. Then a group of six Brits on way to a Rhine cruise , suddenly twigged they were in the wrong queue and just assumed they could push in front of us all. That irritated me a little. I was ‘stamped in after they asked me why I was visiting Germany and how long would I stay. Anyway, coming back to Stansted, I assumed there would be a British passport only section and other nationalities would have an EU section or non UK. None of it, we all queued together for the electronic section. Do I assume that while we get stamped (and questioned) and can only total 90 days in 180, there is no such reciprocal procedure?" No, there is no equally reciprocal arrangement. Border Force occasionally pick on people to make a headline, but the policy is not joined up and is not fully implemented just like the Brexit import checks are not yet fully implemented. In both cases, to implement the rules fully would only the words of Jacob Rees Mogg be BBC an act of self harm. Ergo… we accept the EU placing restrictions on us and our trade into the EU because that is what Brexit was all about. And we just shrug glumly when it comes to implementing reciprocal arrangements because we know that it will cause us more harm to do so. Still. Brexit win eh? Somehow.., | |||
