Some Universities in England and wales are calling for tuition fees to rise to up to £24,000,They are claiming that the "low" tuition fees that are currently paid makes it difficult to run some courses.

However every time tuition fees have risen most universities across England and Wales have raised their tuition fees to the max for all courses.

Do we need to have a talk about the place tertiary education should hold within our society?

The current government appear to wish for higher and further education only to be available for rich people.

It will just push higher education out of the range of working classes and more towards the upper wealthier classes both here and abroad.

Who decides the cost of tuition fees, the Government or Universities?

"Who decides the cost of tuition fees, the Government or Universities?"

The government places a cap on tuition fees and then the Universities chose up to that cap.Thats the argument the universities are using that all courses wouldn't be raised to the new cap

However both times tuition fees were raised Universities immediately raised fees right up to the cap.

Education is big business, of course places that sell courses want to be able to charge more.
