"So you're saying that, of all the people in this forum, only you know how to correctly present a proper argument." I am not sure how you meant what you said so I will respond to the scenarios that occur to me, and you can take on board whatever is applicable. 1) Yes, That would indeed be a perfect example of a strawman. 2) This is a politics forum, a lot of debate happens, I thought it might be interesting to mention some of the common logical fallacies people deliberately or accidentally use. How can learning more ever be a bad thing? 3) I don't think I am the only person who can present a proper argument. I fall into the pitfalls of logical fallacies just like anyone else. I try not to though.

"So you're saying that, of all the people in this forum, only you know how to correctly present a proper argument." I'm genuinely not sure if the irony here is intentional or not

"Yes, That would indeed be a perfect example of a strawman." Why thank you, I try my best. Sorry for not telegraphing my 'humour' sufficiently. In this place, it certainly can be hard to determine what's serious and what isn't.

"This thread is a good idea though. There are some here that use this tactic all the time, possibly without realising it. Anything that improves the level of debate in this forum is a positive." Maybe. I kind of enjoy the ridiculous nature of this part of the forums.

All things in moderation Even cheesecake? That doesn't sound right, I'm pretty sure you're wrong there

Seriously though, could do with some cherry and almond cheesecake right now.

"When you misrepresented someone's argument to make it easier to attack. By exaggerating, misrepresenting, or just completely fabricating someone's argument, it's much easier to present your own position as being reasonable, but this kind of dishonesty serves to undermine honest rational debate. Example: After Will said that we should put more money into health and education, Warren responded by saying that he was surprised that Will hates our country so much that he wants to leave it defenceless by cutting military spending." Fortunately it's all written and kept on the forums so anyone can simply scroll up and see what was actually said.
