Many things seem to conspire against it - Brexit, cost of fuel, environmental concerns etc. Shame as it was a real eye opener for me - my first ever trip abroad at the grand old age of 27, I thought it an incredible thrill to drive through most of the night and suddenly be in a Mediterranean climate. I loved it and thought at the time, everyone should do it. Easier these days for a fly & flop holiday, all inclusive, avoid the foreigners and their dodgy food. Not for me. A rail trip in September- France & Spain for 26 nights. I’m halfway through the planning & bookings and loving it. Kick off with Champagne at St Pancras, late lunch at Le Train Blue, gourmet restaurant at Gare de Lyon before heading to Marseille. | |||
