" After roe vs wade was undone on the basis that the 14th Amendment didn’t explicitly name abortion.. it was always going to be the religious right’s next target especially after Supreme Court Justice Thomas said they should…. You will still need 10 republicans in the senate for it to go to Bidens desk to sign it.. but the senate tends to be a more moderate place than the house | |||

In the meantime the house have done the same thing to try and protect the rights to contraception… again passed with Democratic Party votes!! So that is waiting for republicans senate support… or lack thereof!!! And if you didn’t know just how far the republican religious right would go… in the stat of Missouri the republican legislators have just banned divorce is the woman happens to be pregnant!! Apparently this is again a protective issue, no get outs even for violent relationships!!!  | |||

And abortion rights absolutely now became a midterm election issue! If they can get it on ballots it will drive people to go out and vote… " The second Roe was overturned I think it became the #1 midterm issue. that 60% is low compared to the average which I think is in the 70's. But don't worry Fabio, I have been reliably informed that unlike every other country on Earth it is impossible in the USA for the government to do something the people haven't voted for (except for everything they have). | |||

This is even more surprising as 'No' is a much harder thing to get people to vote for. In large scale votes, 'Yes' wins more often than not, because people like a positive message. It's a great victory for women's rights in Kansas, and I'm expecting it to be just the first of a whole load of such votes over the next few years. I expect that we'll come to consider the striking down of Roe v Wade as being rather a good thing. | |||

The really interesting thing is that the anti abortion side really… really tried to rig the vote as much as they could… They had the option of putting it on the ballot on primary night or midterms night… they chose primary night hoping for a smaller turnout and hiding it! They also wrote the question in a way to confuse people… yes to remove the right to remove the wording in the Kansas constitution The fact that they lost and the turnout was almost general election numbers is going to be a huge worry for the Republican Party…. If abortion is an issue that turns out people for the midterms.. the democrats will not do as badly in November as we thought! The economy, gas prices, and abortion rights and voting rights… SCOTUS May end up costing the republicans the house! | |||
