Tories Blocking a No confidence vote

Well the tories are blocking a labour led debate and a vote of no confidence in the Slob.

The tories are terrified for being called out for continuing to support him, proving this party is only interested power and not principals.

So what do you lot think? Should a vote of no confidence be tabled before the summer recess?

Anything that brings this awful Union to an end. Scotland and England will benefit. Just imagine, a written constitution and a better voting system. What's not to like?

You mean a better voting system that agrees with you? The people had their "once in a lifetime" vote and it is settled.

Would the Opposition win a vote of no confidence?

Or is it just political posturing?

Maybe, if the numbers are there, but we will never know now, it’s an affront to parliamentary process, as traditionally the opposition are given the right to table it if a PM is ousted.

Traditionally it’s not precedent to table a vote of no confidence after a pm has resigned and a leadership process is underway.

The opposition have been given the opportunity to amend the motion, and the government will provide the time for it to be debated.

Well not surprising and hardly worth the few column inches it made.

Labour being just a bit rubbish for a change…..

Amend the motion? What to? A vote of confidence in the government?

They stand a better chance of a "No Confidence In This Goverment"

motion, rather than the one proposed.

For those that haven't read it, the proposed motion was "This House has no confidence in Her Majesty's Government while the Rt Hon Member for Uxbridge and South Ruislip remains Prime Minister."

Given that Boris has already admitted defeat, and that we have a timetable for a replacement, and that most of the time between now and then will be a parliamentary recess, the motion seems rather pointless.

Agreed. So the Government has tabled a vote of no confidence in itself. That's convention in these circumstances, not the bid Labour tried to make.

Amend it and they can have the debate

Actually it isn’t… if the opposition table the no confidence motion, the government are duty bound to call a general election! If the government table the motion… they don’t have to do anything! It’s just an advisory … and those Tory mps who feel strongly can just abstain

That’s why the government won’t let labour do it, which is the convention

The government have said they will allow the motion and the debate … the motion needs to be changed so it doesn’t break the convention of tabling a vonc in the PM after the Pm has resigned and a new leadership process is underway.

Political posturing on labours part and a total waste of parliamentary business time

That’s why the government haven’t allowed it.

So…. Change the wording, debate will be allowed

Are you afraid that Scotland might vote to go it's own way?

If so, why?

For one thing, because the debt burden and lack of an internationally recognised currency will lead to huge increases in Tax and an exodus of people and companies from the country.

That is why, when the SNP are asked to comment on post independence fiscal policy, they rabbit on about how horrible the conservative led government is in Westminister and try to point to Finland as an equivalent.
