"If you were SKS would you want Boris to go now? "

Yes and no. Yes because Johnson is trashing this country and its reputation every day he remains in office. No because Johnson is likely electoral poison for the Tories if he survives till the next election.

From a tory perspective, getting him out is probably the best option to keep the party lights on at no10. Can SKS play a part in keeping him in?

It depends who they replace him with, most of the front runners are tarnished by defending Boris, this will be used against them

Hunt will make a run for next leader. He's been mostly keeping his head down for a while. Javid + Sunak will likely try too. Part of the reason they jumped ship so publicly. Javid's statement in the Commons was basically him setting out his stall.

All the likely runners I can think of are tainted in some way. Either by association with Johnson's rancid gov or by their own failings.

Wouldn't that be a worry for Labour? A new PM, curve ball candidate bringing fresh life into the party that washes away the Boris effect.

Princes Risborough, Luasanne, Alderney

this isn't about labour ... it's about an institutionally corrupt conservative and unionist government and their supporters who appear to think that the majority haven't noticed that they were very vocal in supporting them until today.

Not really. The image of the Tories is basically mud now for many voters. It's been scandal after scandal. And we saw em all defending Johnson for far too long.

They should have booted him out at the time Partygate came out + distanced themselves from his wrongdoing as much as possible then. Far too late to repair enough trust now.

I'd argue sooner than that, but yeah the fact they didn't then was pretty strange for career politicians. Gonna take some gymnastics to extricate themselves from him now.

[this has been an opinion]

Oh he should have gone before Partygate. Hell, he never shoulda been PM. They all knew what sort of man he was. But Partygate really should have been the tipping point for the Tories. It's astonishing to me they didn't act then.

I think covid kept him in post. I was expecting a brexit backlash and a quick out as he had served his purpose.
