Have you read the ruling as reported in the Guardian? The electoral commission found no laws or rules broken by Banks but the reason she won was because that the judge said she felt she had a case at the time of the Ted Talk despite the fact we know different now. Codswallop has a history of making things up. Her huge breakout case was found to be a major lie. Plus, if Banks was an asset then his funds would have been frozen like everyone else connected the Russian state duento the ongoing conflict. Think critically and you would avoid the libel you posted here. FYI a reliable friend of mine who works in a specialised area of banking used to act on behalf of said person but extricated himself from the arrangement as there were questions about their financial arrangements that could not easily be answered. Now I don’t think I have libelled Mr Banks if you read my words with due care and I doubt the opinion of a random person on a swinging site will be as of much interest to him as a serious and widely published journalist but I could be wrong  | |||

It is interested why it was the Ted talk and not the many many other articles mentioned in the evidence he took umbridge with. We will never know why. | |||

Those poor bastards are actually drowning and hounded as you say because we’ve closed the safe path but that’s kept quiet. They are just “illegal” which is a lie. Patel wanted to push them back with naval boats remember. Risk them being drowned rather than just open an immigration office in Calais. People are worse off because Arron Banks knowingly funded repeated lies ( allegedly ) . So it can hardly be described as sensitive territory for him can it?
You are however correct in that the journalist agreed one element was untrue to him personally and submitted an apology before the legal action commenced .
The allegations around Russian funds within the Tory party was justified as being in the public interest. Despite requests to disclose proof otherwise in regards to the allegations of his funding this remained in the judges words “opaque”.
Here’s a quote from a commons report included in evidence. . “ Arron Banks and Andy Wigmore ( a prolific and admitted liar) have misled the Committee on the number of meetings that took place with the Russian Embassy and walked out of the Committee’s evidence session to avoid scrutiny of the content of the discussions with the Russian Embassy.”
Why hide if there’s nothing to hide? The information doesn’t have to be made public.
He also failed to deny he was using his mining interests for money laundering. He responded to these allegations under questioning by laughing saying you can’t prove that. Not “it isn’t true”. Only, “you can’t prove that”.
He claimed international reputation also damage but the court head the tweets were mostly restricted to the U.K. once they had been tracked. His existing reputation was also questioned.
In regards to the case he received an apology and correction but chose the rich man’s bullying tactic.
It failed. The actual judgment is interesting reading and it confirms the £9m he filtered through various routes to the Brexit leave campaign . He also comes over as most unpleasant as an individual in my opinion. | |||
