If he is still there by the end of summer he wont be going anywhere, and more than likley win again if the labour party dont start letting people know what there plans are, they wont win with just boris is bad as there only argument, will be entertaining watching the next year or two

Johnson will not go until he is forced out. Even if he had lost yesterdays vote, he still would not have resigned. When the tories lose their seats at the forthcoming by-elections, he will refuse to accept the slightest bit of responsibility. Oh he will _say_ that he takes full responsibility and that he has learned lessons and that he is sorry for the loss, but it is just words to him, he doesn't in fact have the slightest concept of what responsibility means. Johnson puts himself ahead of every single other person in his party, ahead of the well being of every single person in the country. As far as he is concerned, every single one of those that voted for him yesterday are disposable.

He has changed the ministerial guidelines to make being dishonest and corrupt part of the job description. When it gets to 2024 don't be surprised if he announces that elections are cancelled, there will be something about "the country cannot possibly have the disruption of elections while it is in dispute with the EU over brexit, we must complete the brexit before elections can be allowed".

The entire parliamentary code relies on the prime minister being a decent person who will obey unwritten rules. He is not a decent person and does not obey even written rules!

The only way that Johnson will be evicted before the next general election (if there _is_ a next general election) is if enough of the tory MPs find themselves a collective backbone, cross the floor to become independent, and unite with the other parties to force dissolution of the current parliament.

Johnson will not go until the Conservative and Unionist Party is ruined beyond any possibility of recovery. Short of him actually dying before 2024, there will be no change of prime minister.

There is no way he could have stayed on if he had lost last night's vote and there is no way he can cancel a GE, which he can call any time, but no later than 24th January 2025. I understand your frustration at the PM's integrity, but this is a law not even he would, or could, cancel or ignore.

The Dissolution and Calling of Parliament Act 2022 received Royal Assent on the 24th March 2022 and entered into force the same day. So, the Prime Minister can request the Queen, or new monarch, to dissolve Parliament and call an early GE with 25 working days' notice. Section 4 of the Act provides: “If it has not been dissolved earlier, a Parliament dissolves at the beginning of the day that is the fifth anniversary of the day on which it first met”. For the present Parliament elected at the 2019 United Kingdom GE, which first met on 17th December 2019, this means the fifth anniversary date of 17th December 2024 and the latest possible polling day 25 working days later, 24th January 2025.

Say they change the rules and oust the PM this year. Put say Sunak, Wallace or Truss in charge and we are still going to be faced with a cost of living crisis. Inflation is still going to be around 9%; energy bills are still going to go up again by 50% or more in October – and there is nothing another Tory leader could do about it. Those are the biggest threats to the government.

As a PM, Sunak's difficulties would be intense because people would remember him as the Chancellor who presided over rising inflation, who failed to remind the Bank of England of its duty to keep the Consumer Prices Index at or close to 2%. While Sunak may have cleverly skipped telling the House of Commons that National Insurance rates would be going up by 1.25% – a fiscal announcement which, unusually, was made by the PM – that is unlikely to impress the public as reduced pay slips continue to land this year. Sunak was still Chancellor at the time the decision was made.

Sunak at least possesses good communication skills and is TV-friendly. The same is not true of Liz Truss, who has qualities more likely to put off the voters. Michael Gove? The public made its mind up about him long ago. Jeremy Hunt? He has already been rejected once. Sajid Javid? He can claim his hands were clean throughout Covid because he was out of office, but you are not likely to get an exciting conference speech out of him.

And that assumes, of course, that all these candidates obeyed Covid restrictions to the letter. There's no evidence to the contrary, yet as soon as any of these candidates were to declare, there would be intense efforts to sniff out the smallest of breaches. If they are found to have gone out for a 2nd walk of the day or sat at a table of 7, they are going to be toast. That is the atmosphere we are in, whether we like it or not.

Boris Johnson might be a maverick when it comes to rules of any kind – and he has exposed the stupidity of passing such nannying rules in the first place. But he does have a connection with people who don't usually vote Tory. Rishi Sunak despite his swimming pool might just about be able to claim that, too, but it is difficult to see any other candidate who could even remotely ensure that the red wall doesn't return to Labour.

How anyone can vote for the man he cant define a women and think some have a penis ,don't know how many people with him in Durham depending what interview you watch any thing from 6 upwards and try finding Labour policy's.
