There’s a huge amount of disparity of investment and opportunity between the North and the south of the UK.

Allegedly a big driving factor for the Brexit vote was a large swathe of voters who’d been left behind in the economic wasteland that has become of the North of England.

Will post Brexit Britain reward the result and reverse decades of decline or will it be the same old same old? Does a modern Britain even need the North in any meaningful way to contribute to the economy? Has it had its day when muscle and resources were the drivers of the economy. But in the information age does it have a niche to build upon?

Not sure how they thought that ruining the economy would lead to more investment.

Weird.

Manchester

The city levelling up funds they trumpet are far less than the cuts imposed on local government over the last decade but it sounds good saying we are giving millions in extra funding.
