"People's views on how Boris Johnson is handling it ?"

Extremely well. Supportive and resolute, he received several standing ovations yesterday from the Ukraine Parliament, much to the dismay of remainers, Labourites and Putrid in the Kremlin.

In the olden days, proxy wars were fought on the QT.

He's bragging a little too much and seems a Tsunami is weapon of choice for Blighty. Too much bragging, too much info being released for me.

He is hoping for the Thatcher post Falklands war bounce to get him out of the trouble he is in. All politicians lie and are deeply self interested, BoJo is no different.

That’s highly unlikely. Maybe you’re not following what’s actually happening. U.K. government is supporting Ukraine, not fighting for its own territory. Unlike France supported Argentina supplying weapons to them. The falklands war was about U.K. and Argentina control nothing to do with Russia. It would be a nato decision to attack Russia Not U.K. governments.

One thing for many years, recently and further back is that I'm sick of hearing that the West "Won the Cold War".

We didn't win at all, the Soviet Union collapsed. For many years Russia has had this term rubbed in their faces.

He’s upped his PR game and has dealt with it seemingly well. But lacking on the Visa issue for Ukraine refugees.

It’s almost like there are elections coming up or summat

Sorry you missed my point. Thatcher had a revitalisation of her approval rating after the Falklands war. Johnson is hoping by supporting Ukraine he can be better judged because the populus in general supports Ukraine. Nothing more than that. It is not our war; yet.

France did not support Argentina. They actually supported the UK. They had previously sold Exocet misiles to South Africa who secretly sold them to Argentina for massive profit. The French told the British how to sabotage the Exocet missiles. But I was not suggesting we are at war simply politicians support popular ideas when their ratings are down.

Hopefully, although that comes with it's own risks. Collapsing the German economy and strangulation after WW1, didn't work out too well when Hitler picked up the gauntlet and wanted revenge in WW2.

To keep banging on that the West Won is factually inaccurate and inflammatory and with someone as deranged and paranoid at Putin, not best policy.

Great post. Revolting some people think BJ would be using this awful conflict to boost their UK poll ratings. The dreadful Lib Dem party are saying cynical ploy in election week to give Ukraine £300 million! Last week, they were asking for more foreign aid! Giving £300 million to another country isn't an election winning move - but it's the right thing to do.

But the remainers, rejoiners and ridiculous left will find a way to denounce it!

I thought there was always a Russian and Chinese nuclear threat. Hence the RN nuclear submarine fleet.

Putin poses an existential threat to Britain.

The real and present threat to the populace is embodied by Johnson and his ghastly government.

Let's just keep bragging Putin's younger generation are being killed by intelligence, weapons and other logistic support and see what response it draws.

To announce thar Putin's General's in Ukraine are actively being sought out by Western Intelligence in or for Ukraine Forces to actively target and kill, is fuel on the fire.

I'm not saying we shouldn't, but there will be revenge for it, sabotage, isolated assassinations or declaration of War. Putin's Little Green men could pop up anywhere.

The claims and boasts by the US and UK government, intelligence services and the press could cause serious issues to our security here.

If roles were reversed, we wouldn't accept it. Too much information being put out. If done quietly as Russia do, at least we're in a position to deny any involvement.

"I thought there was always a Russian and Chinese nuclear threat. Hence the RN nuclear submarine fleet. "

Yep. This. All the other bollocks being talked is irrelevant.

Nukes will either be used, or they won't.

Boris isn't "handling" anything. He's made his decision, written his letter for the captains of the Trident submarines - and that's all he can do.

Other than order a first strike - which he's not mental enough to do.

Putin might be - but there's no "handling" of that, by anyone not close enough to stop him.

Don't think signing a security pact with Sweden or Finland is in our better interests.

This Global Britain or just lining us up for trouble down the road. Did Sweden and Finland come running here when we needed them 75 years ago?
