Far too much emphasis being put on this. Some people are academically minded, some aren't but are far better in other areas that are every bit as positive in all aspects.

Ao ok. Title waa confusing. Should maybe have been “Vocational vs. Academic” to better fit your topic?

Agree 100% that there is far too much pressure to go to Uni for many courses that end up in low paid work. Completely unnecessary. And there is not enough invested in practical skills based education which the country has a big shortage and that many are more suited to. Both education paths are equally valid and vital for the success of the country/economy.

This is true.

We need British people to back fill all the unskilled jobs that no one is doing, picking fruit, cleaning, etc.

The UK needs to move to a less educated/ambitious population.

So is education lacking or spot on in the is? I’m confused. In one thread people think basic maths are no longer essential, yet in another there’s a big fuss about the number of people going to Uni rather than vocational training.

What use is a carpenter who can’t calculate angles?

What use is a Brickie who can’t count to a 1000 or calculate areas and ratios?

Anyway Labour are back in power now are they not? Free everything for everyone. The world will soon be a better place.

You can guaran-fookin-tee they all know how to cut the bill by a percentage of a cash payment! Or what 20% is to add VAT!

Oh hold on. Fk all has or will change other than who manages the bin rota and how many potholes get ignored. As you were.

The rich private school oinks go to university and rule the waves.

The poor working class trolls become trades people or unskilled labour regardless of academic skills.

Then the rich people ger thier taps fixed and the working class people id they are really good can get a detached house in the suburbs with a strangling mortage.

This has been a trend for past couple of decades. Hopefully one that will be reversed out of necessity in the near future. The social compact has been broken. Profit, profit, profit is not all about one generation at the expense of the next.
