"Are predicting civil unrest due to escalating food and heating costs.. Is this going to be a breakdown of civilisation as we know it?" The IMF may actually have caused civil unrest in many of the poorest countries in the world in the way it has managed their debts. Remember that the IMF represents the richest nations. For example: 'The IMF has drawn vocal criticism over the years. In his 2002 book, Globalization and Its Discontents, Nobel Prize–winning economist Joseph Stiglitz denounced the fund as a primary culprit in the failed development policies implemented in some of the world’s poorest countries. He argues that many of the economic reforms the IMF required as conditions for its lending—fiscal austerity, high interest rates, trade liberalization, privatization, and open capital markets—have often been counterproductive for target economies and devastating for local populations.' They didn't get Greece right at all either, did they? Greece hasn't yet come back to full GDP (-25%) since the European Bailout Programme. They are also accused of wielding 'power at the point of a gun' to developing nations. So much so that developing nations are now seeking support and loans from other markets, countries and financial organisations. They say they are changing - watch their space.

"Food prices are crazy - I mean yesterday milk was cheaper in M&S than the co-op - what the fuck is that all about! " This is just more project fear, the price of food has surely dropped all across the UK. "Brexit will REDUCE food, wine and clothes costs by 20%" - Jacob Rees Mogg

"Brexit will REDUCE food, wine and clothes costs by 20%" - Jacob Rees Mogg " For the sake of fairness (and I strongly against Brexit) a significant factor in food prices is down to the war in Ukraine and sanctions against Russia. The majority of fertiliser comes from Russia. Substantial volumes of grain also from Ukraine and Russia. Most sunflower oil from Ukraine. Increased fuel prices impacting on both farmers and supply chain. So while we can certainly lay a lot at the door of Brexit, not everything is Leave’s fault.
