"More tory MP’s are seeing the writing is on the wall for the PM, privately and publicly his position now becoming untenable. Some Conservative MP’s are now looking at a full scale revolt after internal polling is showing the may elections are going to be disastrous, with multiple blue councils moving to NOC and majorities being wiped out in key council wards. One commentator mentioned that an MP said that it would be perfectly acceptable that removing the PM currently wouldn’t affect the current position on the situation in Ukraine. Guess there are some Tory MP’s who have some backbone after all….. " No it is not. We all make mistakes and overall he is doing fine.

He is doing well, Tory party donors made fucking billions during the pandemic, and can avoid paying tax because of brexit. However for the rest of us, he doesn't even pretend to care. Which is disappointing, even by the extremely low standards set by previous Tory PMs.

They know they can continue without him now, he is no longer the be all and end all. It was reported that even the associations are having briefings about this with their MP’s. Its looking very Grim to say the least!

"The whole “now’s not the time” argument is pathetic (and lacks “blitz spirit” this lot like to go on about). We changed PM during WWII when we were, you know, actually fighting a war not just on the sidelines. " and I've read we did the same in the great war Also, where is Boris at this important time. And his fellow MPs...

"I'm not excited by the prospect of the tide turning on Boris. What are the outcomes? He stays to the next GE and Conservative voters vote for him again. They oust him and bring in someone other self servicing narcissist like Gove or JRM. Then Conservative voters will vote them in again. Absolutely nothing will get better for British people from any of this." Oh imaging a term with JRM as PM. He’ll knock the plebs back to the workhouse. People will look back at Thatcher and think her a socialist by comparison. Could be worth a spin just for shits and giggles. It’d certainly give the non multimillionaire Tory voters what they’ve been craving it seems.

Looks like this isn't going away." Do you only like MPS, Tory or otherwise, when they agree with you?

What was once an 80 seat Majority is now a 77 Majority, it will continue to shrink. people talk about this "silent majority" doesn't necessarily mean its in their favour, its just that they need that idea to help support their worldview. I find that when someone mentions that its because they are part of a very vocal minority. But l guess some people need this comfort, especially if their world turns upside down, especially when they get older. But hey ho.

As the opposition parties do not appear to have any policies apart from criticising the current PM it is quite possible that Boris may have gained support, not lost it. The only vote that counts is that cast on election day .

Constantly criticising the current pm is hardly going to be an election winner . " True it has happened in the past, but in this world things are cyclic, its sheer hubris to believe there is no-one to stand against him. It's not criticising the PM, its the fundamental clash of the ages, what is right and what is wrong. It goes to very core of our collective being, do we let a liar and a rule breaker lead our country, what does it say about us as a society?. Many people are currently struggling with this, do we support him because he is a means to an end? or do we not support him because his very being is an affront to our democratic norms and values. We've learned over the past years, that these supposed "strongmen" have little regard for others, they are only concerned with themselves. They espouse they are the only ones who can save us, but they lurch from crisis to crisis, leaving collateral damage in their wake, not bearing any real responsibility for their actions. The tories are seriously thinking about the future from what I gather, they know if they continue with the PM, the prospects of them continuing to rule for many decades to come are going to be in real jeopardy. Of course you will hear support outwardly, but privately there are plans to remove him. The PM is getting more paranoid each day, and he is making desperate pronouncements which he cannot possibly deliver in a vain attempt to save his own hide. It reeks of desperation, and the Sharks in his party can smell it, waiting to polish him off.

"Asylum seekers should according to the Geneva Convention seek refuge in the first safe country they arrive in. Failure to do so invalidates their claim. " "can you quote the relevant section pls?" Article 13 of the Dublin II Regulations says "Where it is established ... that an applicant has irregularly crossed the border into a Member State by land, sea or air having come from a third country, the Member State thus entered shall be responsible for examining the application for international protection". This means that if it can be established that a person applying in the UK had previously irregularly entered, say France, then France becomes responsible for considering any application. Obviously if France could then prove that the person came from Italy, then Italy would become responsible. That's the basis of the 'first safe country' dictum. While the Dublin rules are recognised as 'best practice', they are an EU regulation, and so they don't apply to the UK

But as you day, it's an eu thing we voted to get out of. So academic to this discussion (and also is t the Geneva convention as was claimed) The irony is that being out of the Dublin conventiona may have increased the number of applications... And will encourage even more to come over as we can't whip them back to France !

It does make it best for the UK as we were benefiting from it loads. And imagine the fall out if someone does link brexit to more refugees being taken in ... Makes sense to try and join it.

"No it is not. The plot is for remoaners to rejoin the EU. These Tory plotters and Labour will do anything to go against a democratic decision to leave the EU. Boris’ only failing is he has not pushed through quick enough a UK bill of rights, scrap the ECHR, and stop pandering to illegals. We should take the bold step that Australia did - DO NOT RESCUE THEM. They will soon stop coming. The RNLI should be fined for ever illegal they bring into the country and must pay for all costs until they are deported. Refugees are not illegals! Asylum seekers should according to the Geneva Convention seek refuge in the first safe country they arrive in. Failure to do so invalidates their claim. "The Conservatives are polling 20% down in Wakefield and are likely to lose the seat by a huge margin. This is the Johnson factor. He is now an electoral liability and the Tory red wall MP’s will stab in the back if they sense that under Johnson’s leadership they will lose their seats. The vote of confidence is inevitable and even if he wins it (just as Theresa May did), the vultures will start circling and the Conservative Party will once again start navel gazing as infighting and squabbling evolves as subtle, and not so subtle leadership challenges start to emerge."
