Who do we really have to run the country?

A Man or Woman of the People?

Someone who will treat everybody equally?

Someone who clearly sees a race-to-the-top for everyone?

Someone who sees that suppressing division actually gets you votes and support.

Do we have a Nation of People who want to support each other through all levels of Society?

Is there such a Person? A Party? An Idea even?

You know what? Errrrrrr . . . . ?

What are you even talking about? Our PM lied over and over again + broke the law we were all expected to obey. He simply has to go.

The whole who will replace him thing is not a remotely valid excuse to let him off.

I always thought Rishi would have been a half decent PM at first. However I have gone off him big time.

It seems the Kingmaker behind the scenes also had the same idea hence the leak around his wife’s tax status suspiciously close to todays announcement. Been some dark arts fuckery going on lately.

So if Boris goes my guess would be…………………………….cometh the hour cometh the Mogg. (He has been quiet lately but I bet not behind the scenes).

Not quite answering your question OP but that’s who I think will make a play. Mogg V Gove.

I think Truss would go for it in a big way. She's already been taking lots of stupid Thatcher-like selfies for a while.

Sunak would have too. But Patygate + taxes mean he's out.

Actually, in the minds of Tories there is no clear successor. That's likely what has saved Johnson so far. If they reckoned thay had a PM in waiting in the wings, they'd have offed him by now.

I’m pretty certain I will be voting for Starmer at the next General election because even if he’s rubbish he will at least have the country’s interest in front of his own agenda and greed.

The Tory party have now become the party of the rich only. That is not a good thing for my country. Until they have a good clear out of the disgusting corruption and greed which surges through the very fabric of the party I cannot see why anyone would vote for them. The are the party for the support of extremely wealthy individuals and big business lobbyists not SMEs or small business . They are definitely not the party of the people or the worker.

Let’s be honest here...the Downing St Cat could do a better job. We all know cats switch loyalty at the drop of a hat depending on who gives them the best food and comforts. So you know where you stand with a cat. Not do the lying despicable cock womble that is Johnson.

Can’t take credit for that, it was a fellow Fabber (sorry cannot remember who).

I think he and Sunak are a word that is far worse beginning in C and ending in T but a couple of other Fabbers took umbrage at it (though not surprisingly at the things Cock Womble and Chums have done)

There's was an opportunity reported on a while back for escorts that work in Kent. All the horny lorry drivers waiting in those mega truck parks created extra work for them.

I wonder if Mogg has been investigating.

Seriously though, that guy is a horrendous homophobe and has no place as an MP nevermind as a PM. Sadly though, Conservative voters keep voting for him regardless.

The PM is at the the epicentre of an amoral black hole in government, whose centrifugal force is difficult to escape from. Those who think that supporting him does not come at a personal cost in the long run are very foolish. He is undermining democracy right in front of our eyes. We are better than this. He just wants to bring everyone down to his level. He just does’nt care about this country, he only thinks of himself.

"Who do we really have to run the country?

A Man or Woman of the People?

Someone who will treat everybody equally?

Someone who clearly sees a race-to-the-top for everyone?

Do we have a Nation of People who want to support each other through all levels of Society?

"

That would be a real breath of fresh air.

Imagine that: A government actually working for the greater good rather than the vested interests of the few - (this is a non Partisan comment as this (lobbying and Govt by patronage) has been the British way for decades or more - the only real difference is the degree to which they pretend to be otherwise and the pet projects they throw the public as tidbits.

As to whom would be best suited to lead such a vision. I’m sad to say that the current cohort of British politicians seem to lack a visionary who’s got a strong social agenda and the plan to realise it. We’ll get more half arsed tinkering around the edges.

Last leader who really shook things up - for better or worse - was a woman so maybe we need another female leader to drive real change. Hopefully next one will have a heart.

Ok well assuming Boris is still leading the conservative party in the next GE I would say I'm considering starmer. I would first like to hear his vision and some policies or direction. Also it would be nice to have a commitment that he would close all of the tax loopholes that have made people angry so there can be no excuse and a change to the PR voting system.

Absolutely no chance Starmer will close the tax loopholes. Labour have enough difficulty getting funding from the billionaire establishment as is.

Plus if he campaigns on that ticket he will get destroyed. Keeping the tax loopholes open was one of the main aims of brexit.

The right wing media will destroy him if he mentions tax avoidance before being elected.

The fact it would actually help most people won’t matter. Remember a lot of people still believe everything published in the Daily mail without question. They completely fail to see any connection between tax avoidance and the owner of the Daily Mail being a tax avoider. The scale of Lord Harmsworths avoidance makes Sunak’s wife seem like a minor benefit cheat. Hundreds of millions avoided by Harmsworth and his father.

They also fail to see the connection between the EU wanting to stop tax avoidance and the a daily Mail wanting to leave the EU.

It’s not hard but they just czn’t seem to join the dots. What hope does this country have if people fail to see what’s in front of their noses?

It might just be that members of the public have enough common sense to recognise that in certain cases blocking some of the avoidance measures just threw spite results in less tax being collected overall and is simply a pointless exercise . The Daily Mail is simply one national Newspaper amongst many and competes against many other sources of information. Reading your post you would think that people's lives were governed by the Daily Mail . With a circulation of circa 1 million , you attach incredible power to this Newspaper. What about the other members of the voting population of which there must be at least 30 million . If other parties had any credible policies they would be able to tap into these voters . It would seem to me that the success of the current government is due to their success and nothing to do with the Daily Mail. You can hardly claim that a newspaper with a circulation of one million influences 29 million who never read it and some have not even heard of it . That is pushing things to an extreme

That is pushing things to an extreme "

Our resident troll and his witty sarcasm .

190 individual online readers for the daily Mail.. feel free to try and see if that’s more than a million sales.

I’ve answered your ridiculous claims of Boris and his success on the other thread so won’t waste my time again.

"Who do we really have to run the country?

A Man or Woman of the People?

Someone who will treat everybody equally?

Someone who clearly sees a race-to-the-top for everyone?

Someone who sees that suppressing division actually gets you votes and support.

Do we have a Nation of People who want to support each other through all levels of Society?

Is there such a Person? A Party? An Idea even?

You know what? Errrrrrr . . . . ?

Are we looking for a Tory successor to Boris before the next GE or do you mean at the GE when it opens up to all parties?

We have no choice at the moment to choose anyone over Boris as only the Conservatives or Parliament can do that before the next GE.

So. From the next GE who do we have?.

. That is an interesting reply . You fail to address the issue of where the other 29 million electorates source their information . It is hardly going to be the Daily Mail if they do not read it .

What is it with the constant obsession with calling any mention of loophole closures an act of spite?

The spite was in creating these in the first place where profits made in those country can effectively be exported offshore tax free (near enough)

Do you think it is fair that 10 people earning 50k each pa have to pay all their PAYE tax - but one individual can earn 10x that via a company then via a web off offshore entities, IP, loans etc effectively pay next to fk all towards the upkeep of the country that affords them then opportunity to earn?

If you can explain that one to me I’ll concede that reversing that is in fact spite.

Weird that the “taking back control” crowd are actually against the UK actually taking back control of taxation of revenues made within its shores for the good of the nation.

Of course we know why. It had fk all to do with the greater good and all to do about the small

Minority “taking back control” of those who had their hands on the tax legislation.
