Nuclear Accident

Worrying article in The Guardian yesterday from an ex US nuclear weapon operator.

Mistakes do happen. Spanners dropped into silos. Operators cheating in proficiency exams and drug use in officers. One nuke was blasted in a fire but fortunately didn’t go off.

What a crazy world? But enjoy the weekend.

I'm more worried about the cooling systems of Ukraine's nuclear reactors.

Less dramatic than weapons - still not good.

Could be classed as another accident, except for the station to be disconnected from the grid.

India ( accidentally or so they say ) fired a missile into Pakistan a few days ago. Could have escalated badly.

Apparently something went wrong during routine maintenance.

Same here. The war's bad enough without that getting out of control!

I hope the Russians aren't stupid enough

I agree..

We should be more worried about the diesel powered cooling of Chernobyl other reactors as we already know the consequences of failure.

There are other plants where staff can easily make a mistake due to fatigue.
