This sort of babble is not new yet a large proportion of the IS population and beyond think him to be a clever man and a great leader.

Trump is correct. Windpower is only 15/20 percent efficient, have a short life span, are not recyclable and the blades last at best 10 years. At the moment the blades are all going to landfill. The UK is green mad and frankly for the fart in the wind CO2 that we produce compared to Russia, USA, China and India, we should be focusing the cheapest energy possible, oil, gas and coal.

It doesn't matter if wind power is less efficient than gas if it costs less per Kw, which it now does typically. Significantly less than coal. Both without subsidy.

In fact, efficiency is 35% of rated capacity including wind variability, so your figures are way off.

You are also comparing a mature fossil fuel industry with a still growing wind turbine industry with huge annual gains.

Turbine blades are currently going to landfill, but recyclable composites are now being trialled and introduced. Blade life is now closer to 20 years than 10. Atmospheric pollution is significantly lower than that from fossil fuels.

The UK contributes 3% of global CO2, which is not insignificant, particularly as China is shifting rapidly to renewables despite its fossil fuel growth. That represents a huge market which the UK can exploit if it is developing technology ahead of the curve. Thinking long term, like China not short term.

We should be focusing as much on what comes next as what is happening now.

None of this has anything to do with the war in Ukraine, except that the main leverage that Russia has is in the supply of gas not the unrestricted supply of wind.

That's strange, when they were mounting the offshore turbines in North Wales, we were zipping around the pedestals and towers as they were putting the blades on with a big crane ship. Apart from being chased all over by security boats and visiting Rhyl regularly since.

Those blades are the same ones we saw go up in 2008. A good majority of our generation is wind when conditions are right. If it wasn't worth doing, then why so much investment?

It's in the mix, not a total solution. No, we should be focusing on reducing load at local level.

Energy independence is the goal, if we tie ourselves to imports like oil and gas forever, we just end up being someone’s bitch.

It’s funny that those who supported Brexit and wanted freedom don’t want freedom from reliance on others to meet our energy needs, total hypocrisy.
